I think we stopped when we were all still downstairs, since no one could decide what we were doing. Everyone besides Winthrop went upstairs. Winthrop remained behind to rifle through the dead giant's belongings. Perrin considered remaining with him, but left when everyone else went upstairs.

While you're down there, get me that sword. My new assassin henchman needs a weapon. And the unconscious evil cleric buried under bugbear corpses. Who could possibly be a rehabilitable evil half-orc cleric/assassin henchmen.

Yeah, I'm sure we can rehabilitate him. Just leave him with Raven downstairs and he'll take care of it.

A simple charm spell is all we need for rehabiliation. Once we do that we have a great guide to take us the the main temple. Once charmed we can us ESP to see if what he tells us is true or not.

Um, have we forgotten that this is a priest of Tharizdun??? I would not advise using ESP on a person who's mind is under the direct control of a god. Your head would probably explode.

Has Dell tried casting ESP before donning the circlet? That might yield interesting results.

Evil cleric got away. Third naga probably too.
Can we "divine" or "augur" to any useful effect?

Evil cleric got away. Third naga probably too. Can we "divine" or "augur" to any useful effect? Perhaps we "can." There are several "actions" which will allow us to follow those who've "escaped."

In all seriousness, our powers in that regard are quite limited. Augury will allow us to determine what will happen in a 30 minute period. It's almost always useless. For example, if you want to open a door and enter the room, but augur beforehand, your god will probably say "If you enter and die, you'll probably be dead." Never something like "The dragon in there is not too tough for you, but the chest with the poison trap will get you."
Divination is usually used to detect something exhibiting a general characteristic. "In which direction is the largest treasure in the forest?" or "In which direction is the most powerful beast in the forest?"

I expect that the Nage and sidekick would have left through the tunnel. We could do a Augury to see that if we went that way would we be able to find their trail. We have a pack of Jasper friendly weasels that might be able to sniff out the trail alond with Fido. Let alone the tracking ability of Otto who is also known as "The Bloodhound."

It's a moot point anyway, since we're stuck here for at least a week. I highly doubt Otto is looking to go out on our next adventure until he's had enough natural rest to get to full HP. Perrin can be trained for 3rd level spells, which will be a big help for our team. We've got a ton of stuff to identify, and there's still a lot more loot we haven't examined. And, in case we've forgotten, there are still more rooms to explore down here. Perhaps we can interrogate the naga corpses to find where the other one is going. Maybe they're the hags referenced in the notes? I could see a giant thinking that a naga is a half-giant, since it's huge and has a humanoid head.
To get back on topic, it'll be basically impossible to track anything two weeks after it fled. Our best bet would be to gather clues about where the naga's came from and where they'd go.

Sam needs one too.
Isn't there a large town nearby to which we can bring these refugees?

Looking at the map of Geoff on the wiki the closest towns are Preston, Orlane and Ravonnar. Roughly 2 or 3 days away. I have no idea how big they are.
I also noticed that Castle Crag is on the edge of the Rushmoors - a large swamp. One of the notes from the giant mentioned recruiting giants from the swamp. Coincidence? Anyone want to kill some giants?
BTW, Otto will need at least 2 weeks to get back to full. He is down 20 points from the sword of wounding. We don't need to wait that long since wherever we travel he will continue to heal as we go and he does have the ring.
Does anyone know how much damage we did to the naga? Isn't there a restriction on flying creatures after taking a certain percentage of their hit points? I guess the cleric will be able to heal it but he will need to rest like we did. So they may not be that far away. I say we try to catch them if possible immediately. Doesn't Hugh have some special abilities to hunting people down?

The naga flew away from the room in which we were fighting, so I think he should still be able to fly. Since it's a giant snake which magically flies, and not a bird which uses wing muscles, I'd imagine that it can fly just fine.
Can we get the text of the three notes we found in the castle posted to the board?
I think the larger point is that we have a treasure trove of information here, lots of dead bodies to interrogate and more stuff to explore in the castle. There is no reason to dash off. I'd assume that there are mercenary camps within a day of Castle Crag, so it's highly possible that one of the lesser groups will try to take the castle for itself.
We have at least 2 weeks of stuff to do here, so let's stay put until we've trained, healed and identified stuff. Maybe we can write some scrolls too.

We should send a message to the elves to let them know we've taken the place. They can send a force to hold the fort, escort the slaves freed prisoners to safety, bring us supplies, crap like that. But we shouldn't leave until they get here.

Since Hugh found naga tracks, it doesn't seem like the naga was flying. The naga probably had to slither in order to carry the priest.
Nonetheless, they have up to a 20 hour headstart, given how long we rested. I don't really think it's worth the time to chase them. Better to fortify the castle and get some training done. Along with my 3rd level spells, I know Antonus and I could use some bind wounds and horsemanship training, time permitting.

I sure all of our level capped demi-humans would like to know how exactly you worded the wish to make this happen. Pfiffwin still has a while until he reaches his cap in illusionist but getting to 4th level spells would be really nice.

Has he already commissioned a chest to be made? If not, he should have Cedrus get started on one. He was a great chestmaker, my father. And when the six-fingered wizard appeared and requested a special chest, my father took the job. He slaved a year before he was done. The six-fingered man returned and demanded it, but at one-tenth his promised price. My father refused. Without a word, the six-fingered man Magic Missiled him through the heart. I loved my father, so, naturally, I challenged his murderer to a duel ... I failed. The six-fingered wizard did leave me alive, but he gave me these scars. I was eleven years old. When I was strong enough, I dedicated my life to the study of magic. So the next time we meet, I will not fail. I will go up to the six-fingered Wizard and say, "Hello, my name is Dell Morningstar. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Anyway, we should stay here in the castle until we're good and ready to leave. Once we've thoroughly searched the place and determined it's safe, we'll call Arden Prindive. We'll stay on to prevent a counter-assault for a few weeks until Diego can get the place up and running. Maybe we can send to Oaklock and he'll move in too!

Don't we have some pressing business with the Great Druid and/or saving the world?

I can't imagine finding anyone that would be willing to teach Dell. He is such a willful student. I'm sure it would be also very expensive. After all there is a war going on and time is money. I'm sure the training would take four weeks and I might have to help Hugh cast a new bell so I might have to consider it. It would give me enough time to zip off and get Cedrus and perhaps raise a henchwoman. I might also try some clairvoyance on the naga and priest. Look in on Serrin, Liato, Dred, San and Raven's other helmet.

Two weeks?? Don't we have some pressing business with the Great Druid and/or saving the world? Yes, we have to go save the world. That's why we shouldn't run off unprepared and get killed. If company members need training, then we'll stay to train them. Our magical items need to get identified. These things take time.

Crumpled note found on dead giant reads:
Greetings Jarl Gungir!
I send good news! I have doled the tithe and body servants out among our new allies, both mystical and not. I have swayed the giants of the swamp, along with their brethren, to our cause. One of the green-skinned hags has even gifted you with a greatsword that cries out for blood! I bring it to you at the earliest opportunity. I have followed the directions given me, but ...
Other note found in giant's stuff:
Tindamir-
The defeat of cousin Grugnir has been a boon and a loss to our people. His mammoth-sized ego is gone, and his foolhardy notions of tactics cease to slay our best warriors. But with him have gone the ice of the warrior caste. We must buy time to augment our strength. I go to rally the clans at the ruin, where I plan to excavate a new stronghold. You, brother, must reach out to our other giant kin – even those of only half-giantish blood.
The giantess Olganni argues against us, but many will follow the lead of our elder brethren, who she has not yet convinced. Perhaps you can use their inaction to your advantage. I provide you with these body servants and the coins they bring. Use them well and return with strong allies ready to do my bidding.
Thyrm’s icy hand hold you. Gungir, Jarl of the Ice Lands
With respect to training, I don't believe that Perrin can be trained by Adrienne or Hugh. Phaulkon's priesthood overlaps with the Divine Seven and with several of the elven gods, but not with Lydia the Seer or Trithereon the Avenger. While he was able, with much effort and delay, to understand the simple 2nd level prayers following instruction by Hugh, the 3rd level prayers require intercession through minor functionaries of the specific god.
I'd also point out that, as of the end of last week, you had found the connecting secret passage, and the winches that seem to lever free the block that seals you in, but you have not left the area of the chained creatures.
Also, all of the small dots on the map are generally towns no bigger than Burle, about four times the size of Saltmarsh. Only the places marked with the large circles on the map can be thought of as cities. Hochoch is the nearest city.
