On the Street of Magicians, Paavo finds a young apprentice down-on-his-luck. So tell me about this apprentice (who I am calling Youssef Farhi). Does he come with any equipment? What about a spell book? If so, what spells does he have? Do I need to discuss terms with his master?

Here's everything the party owns. Is this before or after the 150 dinar distribution to each individual that we agreed to on Sunday? I believe that was marked on the party sheet as -150gp times 8, but I don't believe we marked it as +150gp on each of the individual PC sheets. (At least I didn't.) I will leave the accounting to Dan/Josh/Dave. In that case, please transfer 240gp from Friedrich's list to the party's, and delete the 240gp IOU. Everyone but Nordel (who wasn't on the island) should claim a silver or gold apple. Bolo claims a silver apple. Then he gives it to Nordel, as Bolo doesn't want the extra encumbrance. Nordel could then choose to keep the +3 studded leather (AC 4) or take one of the +1 ultralight plate (AC 2). I know I suggested Nordel take the splint but I think it would serve one of the front line fighters better. Not to beat a dead horse, but please help me understand the tradeoffs here so I can discuss them with the player concerned. AIUI, "moderately enchanted" splint is likely to be the same AC as +1 ultralight plate, so that's a wash, but the splint would give a better saving throw bonus, and the ultralight would be less encumbering. And for the next several sessions, this is all likely to be irrelevant anyway, as we can't wear any of the three options in this heat. Is that all correct? If so, I will inquire about Nordel's reactions. Betting is regulated in the Fighting Pits Is all betting on a cash basis, or can one place a bet with gems at the usual 80% of value? If gems are an option, then does a winning bet return the original gems, plus profit in cash, or does it return the 80% value in cash, plus profit in cash? If you can't bet with gems and get them back when you win, then Bolo inquires at the Merchant Houses about short term loans secured by gems. If he put up, say, 1000gp in gem value as collateral, how much cash could he borrow, and how much cash would he have to pay to redeem his gems the following day? Dan asks to borrow Bolo's talisman of sustenance to see if it is effective in reducing the amount of sleep needed to regain his spells. Dan will need to wear the talisman for a week before any benefit will be realized. Let me know if Bolo acquiesces. Isn't this a one-time-use item? That was my understanding, but I could be wrong.

Trommer is fine with Paavo's suggestions. He will also purchase local attire. Perhaps sporting a turban to cover the heavy iron helm from the sun. Is it possible to get goggles with darken lenses? Who will have the best used of the Boots of Jumping? Is the Stormcaller Horn class specific? If not then maybe someone not on the front lines should carry it. That way it could be blown in a battle a bit easier. I believe the dessert halfling wear darkened goggles. Maybe they would sell you a pair. I think Trommer should have the Boots since they give him better mobility. Friedrich has the unicorn ring. Colby can Fly. Nordel stands in the back and shoots. I think Stormcaller is a single use item. It will summon storm giants to our aid. We haven't Identified it yet. It may have further powers. Paavo asks Mary to spend a day Identifying it. Depending on its function it may make sense to either leave in the vault or give to a back row person.

Does Friedrich's specialization include bardiches? They seem to be related to axes. If not, could he be trained to extend his axe skills to it? The bardiche with its moderate enchantment we have may be a better weapon than the black iron axe. It would have to be used two-handed though.
A fauchard fork is listed as 8' long. It should just fit along the diagonal in a 5' vault. Is the tuning fork functionality limited to class? If not, it might be cool to have Mary use it. Do we know how often it can be used? What the range is? What the effect is? If not, Paavo will enlist the help of Youssef to test this item. They will purchase some bales of hay, go out into the dessert, set the bales up and use the tuning fork at various distances on the bales to see how it works.

I am not sure if moderate enchantment means +2 or +3. +2 splint is the same AC as +1 plate. +3 splint is obviously better. Magic armor gives bonuses to certain saving throws. The better the enchantment, the easier the save. +3 studded is not as good an AC but has the savings throw bonuses. Since Nordel is a bow specialist he may want to stick with that. The logic being that he may experience more spell attacks when not in the front rank.
As indicated by the DM's spreadsheet, currently no one is in possession of the splint mail.
As far as I know the talisman works like the ring of sustenance. See UA page 93 for a description of the ring. You may be thinking of the dispel illusion charm that was a one-time shot.

BTW, Colby is in possession of 3 rings now: +1 protection, armoring, shooting stars. He should give one of them to Mary or Bolo since he can only wear 2 at a time.

To clarify, this is a single-use item that works as the Ring of Sustenance. Once activated the bearer does not require food/drink for 7 days and can operate on 2 hours of sleep as if it were 6. At the end of 7 days the talisman crumbles to dust. Responses forthcoming to all these other posts.

this is a single-use item ... At the end of 7 days the talisman crumbles to dust. When we're out in the field, if a mage or cleric needs it for urgent spell replenishment, then I expect Bolo will be happy to give it up. For now, he'll hang on to it. I didn't know about the sleep compression feature. That's cool.

Actions: Dan exchanges his chain mail for the electrum ring mail. I just moved that razza-frazzin armor into the box. Paavo exchanges his plate mail for the damage reduction chain mail. Plate in the quantum box? Paavo attempts to sell his fine cloak. At one point it was valued at 150 gp. It is a fine cloak, totally unsuited to this clime, but very fine. Paavo can get 120 dinars for it. I understand it gets cold at night in the dessert. if that dessert is ice cream.. :) couldn't help it.. Paavo asks the magician he is dealing with what he could get for a wand of metal detection. Would depend on the number of charges which there is probably a way to ascertain, but up to 2000 dinars in trade value, less in cash. Paavo purchase two wooden shields. He can find woven shields which are statistically identical and cost the same, but no wooden shields like back home. If he wants them they're 1 dinar each. Paavo takes some of the goblin paste to an alchemist. He describes its effects at warding off scorpions and snakes. Is the alchemist interested in purchasing it? Sure, he'll give Paavo 60 dinars. If Paavo has the recipe or the ingredients, he'd pay 10x that amount. Paavo places the flask with the rainbird tear back into party possession. Dan places the flanged mace back into party possession. Paavo claims a golden apple. Dan claims a silver apple. Dan claims the 6 lapis lazuli inlaid sticks (augury). Noted. Offers (require other party members to agree): Dan offers to exchange his shield with Trommer. Trommer should exchange his plate mail for the green-lacquered splint-mail. Trommer is fine with Paavo's suggestions. Done and done. Anti-magic shield traded for shield w/tower +1 2nd set of platemail in the box? He will also purchase local attire. Perhaps sporting a turban to cover the heavy iron helm from the sun. I will make the necessary deductions and additions. Turban included. Is it possible to get goggles with darken lenses? He'll have to trade something with the reclusive desert halflings, who only operate through barter and don't use dinars or particularly value gems. Is the Stormcaller Horn class specific? If not then maybe someone not on the front lines should carry it. That way it could be blown in a battle a bit easier. It is not class specific, but it's a large, encumbering (200) horn. Paavo and Dan are interested in selling their healing and curing powers while in the city. :o :o :o They will first check with the Temple to make sure that is allowed. Of course that's not allowed, the Lamas tell him. 100%* of all monies/donations/profits from the use of clerical powers go to the Temple to glorify the One God and build more temples. To do otherwise is tantamount to stealing. Stealing from God! Of course they forgive him his ignorant barbarism. (*this is standard everywhere. in the Forest Kingdom, unlike here, the abbots & bishops who run the centers of worship use the money to glorify/enrich themselves in addition to the Church. Dan would need to build his own temple/church in order to charge for healing like that. Paavo knows that he is never allowed to charge money for the use of his gifts, lest he lose them.) If Paavo or Dan are low on funds, the Temple will welcome them with open arms. Both are offered free room & board for the duration of their stay in Barb-el-Shay. Assuming they wish to assist in the activities of the temple and considering they're on a holy quest for the Sainted Fizzi Finiini, they're offered unlimited holy water (free), healing potions at minimum cost (100GP) and any clerical scrolls desired at ink costs (100GP/spell level) with spells up to 4th level. They can also teach Dan new spells: 2nd level: Anti-Vermin Barrier (a barrier to vermin) Call Upon Faith (cleric in good standing casts before a difficult endeavor to allow a better chance at success) Draw Upon Holy Might (increases cleric's constitution, strength or dexterity but leaves him weakened afterward) Log of Ever-Burning (burn wood longer) 3rd Level: Castigate (a powerful, damaging rebuke) Zone of Sweet Air (cleanses bad air, poison gas, etc. - specifically not dragon breath) 4th level: Lesser Orison of Healing (when he's ready) What are the going rates for cure light wounds, cure serious wounds, cure disease and cure blindness? All healing outside the temples is free, a gift from the One God. But the priests rarely heal outside the Temple, which seems slightly hypocritical, and charge DMG prices: 100, 350, 1000, 1000 dinars for those respective services at the temple. Of course no one pays the exorbitant Temple fees unless they're rich/impious, and this is by design, as everyone so afflicted must walk the righteous path to Holy Entioch. How about laying on of hands? What does Paavo think the going rate should be for the divine gift bestowed on him by the One God as a paladin? That is a trick question, btw. Dan will of course continue to provide his Create Waters while in the city. That's a 6 hour time commitment every day. He can also assist with Precipitation and Cloudburst spells if he wants. So tell me about this apprentice (who I am calling Youssef Farhi). Saves me the trouble of naming him. He's an aspiring elemancer, his element of specialty is Air. Does he come with any equipment? What about a spell book? If so, what spells does he have? Do I need to discuss terms with his master? He has a patchy robe and scuffed sandals. He has a copper tablet with 3 spells (Feather Fall, Lasting Breath & Write Magic) on it. It can hold 12 spell levels and has an encumbrance value of 100. He had a falling out with his master and cannot afford the College tuition to continue studies on his own. Is this before or after the 150 dinar distribution to each individual that we agreed to on Sunday? I believe that was marked on the party sheet as -150gp times 8, but I don't believe we marked it as +150gp on each of the individual PC sheets. (At least I didn't.) I was wondering what that notation meant. I'll fix it. In that case, please transfer 240gp from Friedrich's list to the party's, and delete the 240gp IOU. Done. Bolo claims a silver apple. Then he gives it to Nordel, as Bolo doesn't want the extra encumbrance. OK. And for the next several sessions, this is all likely to be irrelevant anyway, as we can't wear any of the three options in this heat. Is that all correct? If so, I will inquire about Nordel's reactions. Ultralight magical platemail won't be a factor in the heat. Is all betting on a cash basis, or can one place a bet with gems... Cash only. then Bolo inquires at the Merchant Houses about short term loans secured by gems. If he put up, say, 1000gp in gem value as collateral, how much cash could he borrow, and how much cash would he have to pay to redeem his gems the following day? They will lend Bolo 1500 dinars at a rate of 25 dinars per day, assuming the gems appraise at the value he says they do and they can verify his place of residence. I think Stormcaller is a single use item. It will summon storm giants to our aid. The party was informed that they could sound th Stormcaller horn and summon the storm giants to their aid. It was implied that this aid would be rendered only once. Do you want to use a pearl Identifying the horn and is Colby doing it or is Mary? Shoot, I hadn't thought of that. I guess I'll put the ring of shooting stars back into the unassigned list. Moving it back to the pool. Does Friedrich's specialization include bardiches? They seem to be related to axes. If not, could he be trained to extend his axe skills to it? The bardiche with its moderate enchantment we have may be a better weapon than the black iron axe. It would have to be used two-handed though. *It's a pole-arm so he can't have double specialization (+3/+3) but I'll let him have regular specialization because the UA says it's a great axe. A fauchard fork is listed as 8' long. It should just fit along the diagonal in a 5' vault. Agree. Is the tuning fork functionality limited to class? Yes, the class has to be able to wield the weapon. Do we know how often it can be used? What the range is? What the effect is? 1"x3" cone of sound. It blasts the bales of hay to smithereens. He can accomplish this twice before the fork stops working.

If Trommer is taking the moderately enchanted splint (which it appears he is) then Nordel will take Trommer's +1 ultralight plate. The +3 studded can go back in the pool.
Nordel is interested in purchasing a hawk and learning how to use it for hunting and sport. Are hawks available for purchase here? Are hawk-handling lessons available?
Nordel has also heard of a fascinating object known as a boomerang. Can these be bought? Are lessons available?
On the day of Friedrich's fight, Bolo will borrow 1500 dinars (on collateral of 1000gp in gems) and will bet it on Friedrich. Nordel will come along to help carry and guard. Will Friedrich (or anyone else) also help with that? If Friedrich wins, Bolo will definitely need additional assistance carrying his winnings.
Bolo inquires in advance about the proof of residence. Will a letter from the proprietor of the Seven Silks be sufficient?
Bolo also checks on the timing of the fight and the loan. He makes sure that the loan proceeds will be ready to collect on the day of the fight. Will the Merchant Houses be open on the morning after the fight, so that Bolo can pay off the loan with only 1 day interest?

If Trommer is taking the moderately enchanted splint (which it appears he is) then Nordel will take Trommer's +1 ultralight plate. The +3 studded can go back in the pool. OK. Nordel is interested in purchasing a hawk and learning how to use it for hunting and sport. Are hawks available for purchase here? Are hawk-handling lessons available? Sure, rare beasts and monsters are sold in the Bazaar, Nordel sees: an adult lion for 500 dinars, 2 yellow blink dog pups for 2000 dinars each, a couple speckled basilisk eggs for 5000 dinars each and a fledgling gryphon with white feathers for 5000 dinars. A hawk is easy to find at PHB prices. For a trained one, that will fly out and return to him, it will cost 60 dinars. Nordel is a ranger with animal husbandry. A trained hawk would be no difficulty for him to control. Nordel has also heard of a fascinating object known as a boomerang. Can these be bought? Are lessons available? He should go ask at the Fighting Pits, if there is such a thing, the Pitmaster would know of it. He looks like a hardy fellow, maybe he can win a few dinars in the pit. On the day of Friedrich's fight, Bolo will borrow 1500 dinars (on collateral of 1000gp in gems) and will bet it on Friedrich. Excellent. Bolo inquires in advance about the proof of residence. Will a letter from the proprietor of the Seven Silks be sufficient? He needs another one of these: He also gives Paavo a strip of colored paper with some strange writing on it, which he says Paavo should keep in case he becomes lost or if the guards question him. Which Farouk will give him if the party's bill is current. Bolo also checks on the timing of the fight and the loan. He makes sure that the loan proceeds will be ready to collect on the day of the fight. Will the Merchant Houses be open on the morning after the fight, so that Bolo can pay off the loan with only 1 day interest? Yes, all that is no problem, Bolo has until the end of the week to make his first payment on the loan. As far as the actual timing of the fight, it'll be at the start of next session unless Friedrich wusses out. Doing it on the board is so anti-climactic. (Can you tell that we are in the middle of refinancing our mortgage?) If you want a second opinion let me know, I got a guy.

Nordel buys a trained hawk for 60gp and spends a little time each day practicing with it. Unless advised otherwise, I will assume that the hawk finds its own food and therefore does not add to our room and board expenses.
Nordel has Friedrich introduce him to the Pitmaster and inquires about boomerangs.
Bolo obtains the requisite slip of colored paper from Farouk. Is Gabul literate? Can he tell Bolo what it says?
Any time Bolo encounters those weird desert halflings, he greets them politely in Halfling and asks whether they are hungry, or perhaps thirsty. If they say yes, he purchases something inexpensive for them from a nearby food stall or cafe. He wishes them well and advises them to be careful around the city guards, who appear to have a thing against halflings.

Nordel buys a trained hawk for 60gp and spends a little time each day practicing with it. Done and done. Nordel spends time on the roof of the Inn of the Seven Silks while his hawk is out hunting in the desert. The hawk is named Prince Nimar [Nim-MAR] and only answers to that. It is quite fierce and Nordel must purchase a heavy leather gauntlet for an additional half dinar or take damage. Nordel has Friedrich introduce him to the Pitmaster and inquires about boomerangs. The Pitmaster calls it an odd weapon that he's only ever seen on the Isle of Zothay. Bolo obtains the requisite slip of colored paper from Farouk. Is Gabul literate? Can he tell Bolo what it says? It says the Inn of the Seven Silks and it has the date, which appears to be the Day of Fasting, in the Month of Kar'hat the Lion, in the Year of the Djinn... Any time Bolo encounters those weird desert halflings, he greets them politely in Halfling and asks whether they are hungry, or perhaps thirsty... They have their own waterskins and rations, some kind of dried fruit and spicy jerky, that they insist Bolo accept in exchange. He notes a few who have slings concealed in their ragged shrouds. Anything in particular he's trying to find out about them? They live in the hot desert to the north, in the Ovens of Ar-Gar, and their leaders are shamans or desert druids of some kind. They come to the city to collect "treasures."

@ the party: 1. Mary has can research for having gained 5th level and 6th level. This translates into a pair of 3rd level spells. One of them will be haste. Any suggestions on the second one?
2. So is there any items that are available for MT to have for protection? How about getting her trained once we are done identifying items?
1. Friedrich will buy some goggles to shield his eyes from sand.
2. Friedrich will also watch Umad fight or otherwise ask his comrades in the Order of the Eternal Axe (basically I want to get an idea as to what I will be facing so I can form a strategy/counter-strategy)
3. When Friedrich equips the Bull Helmet does it glow or hum or otherwise give away that it is a magic item? I am considering having Friedrich wearing it during the fight against Umad.
4. Friedrich and Mary will take a gold apple each. How much are they worth when it comes to selling them?
5. MT will also buy some clothes...good suggestion Josh. HA!

1. Friedrich will buy some goggles to shield his eyes from sand. The only creatures that seem to have goggles are the desert halflings. They are difficult to track down and they do not accept dinars or gems/jewelry in trade. If Friedrich wants a face-mask or a veiled helmet he can find that in the Fighting Pit armory free before the fight. 2. Friedrich will also watch Umad fight or otherwise ask his comrades in the Order of the Eternal Axe (basically I want to get an idea as to what I will be facing so I can form a strategy/counter-strategy) The veterans at the Eternal Axe warn Friedrich about Umad, he's an expert with the knife, both thrown and in close quarters combat - fast, deadly. 1/2 dinar cost to see the fight, Umad vs Tokkata. Umad hypes the crowd with a feat of knife juggling which they seem to enjoy. Umad keeps his distance as best he can from melee, frustrating his opponent. Umad carries a ton of knives and riddles his opponent with flashing daggers. He walks away with barely a scratch. 3. When Friedrich equips the Bull Helmet does it glow or hum or otherwise give away that it is a magic item? No, not obviously magic. Friedrich has been previously warned of the consequences of cheating in the arena. 4. Friedrich and Mary will take a gold apple each. How much are they worth when it comes to selling them? They appraise for about 50GP each. How much they're worth due to their magical properties (Cure Critical Wounds) Friedrich doesn't know. 5. MT will also buy some clothes... The deeppockets robe is actually fitted for a female, one of the witches from the Palace of the Silver Princess. If Colby really wants to wear it he can.

Bolo claims 1 dose of violet dust (magic detection) and asks to be reminded how it works. Only a pinch is needed for an object of any size; there are 1d10+10 pinches in each pouch.

Plate in the quantum box? I suggest Trommer carries it. If he does not want to then put any surplus plate in the quantum box. We will want it while traveling in the desert. We can change out at night or when going underground. It is a fine cloak, totally unsuited to this clime, but very fine. Paavo can get 120 dinars for it. Sold. Would depend on the number of charges which there is probably a way to ascertain, but up to 2000 dinars in trade value, less in cash. Paavo will offer the figurine, the wand and the ever smoking hookah (an improvement to the ever smoking bottle) in exchange for the ring of fire resistance. He can find woven shields which are statistically identical and cost the same, but no wooden shields like back home. If he wants them they're 1 dinar each. Purchase 2 woven shield. Sure, he'll give Paavo 60 dinars. If Paavo has the recipe or the ingredients, he'd pay 10x that amount. If no one has objections, Paavo will sell the 8 units and place the 480 gp in the party funds. If Paavo or Dan are low on funds, the Temple will welcome them with open arms. Both are offered free room & board for the duration of their stay in Barb-el-Shay. Paavo and Dan will take up residence in the Temple during their stay in Barb-el-Shay. Anyone want potions or scrolls? These should come out of party funds since healing benefits the party. Note we are down to 1 cleric to provide healing. We do have a fair number of healing magics: 7 healing waters, 6 rose colored potions of healing, 4 golden apples of cure critical wounds, 3 silver apples of neutralize poison, a ring of spell storing with cure serious wounds, a prayer bead of curing with cure disease, blindness or serious wounds (1/day), 51 bind wound treatments. I would suggest investing in a couple of PfE 10' Radius scrolls (800 gp). Not everyone can fit in Paavo's. And the spells will last 7 turns. And 8 more potions of healing (800 gp). If no one objects, then deduct the costs from the party funds. - specifically not dragon breath) 4th level: Lesser Orison of Healing (when he's ready) He will learn these spells in case he needs them later. That's a 6 hour time commitment every day. He can also assist with Precipitation and Cloudburst spells if he wants. Will do. He's an aspiring elemancer, his element of specialty is Air. How do you place new spells on the copper tablet? Is it still 100 gp of spell ink per level of spell? Can someone remind me how much a traveling spell book costs, how many spell levels it will hold and what its encumbrance is? I know we vary from what is in the UA. How much do the copper tablets cost? Can you add Lasting Breath to the Spellbooks thread? Are there spells he is uncomfortable learning? Are any of his spells increased by being an elemancer? The party was informed that they could sound the Stormcaller horn and summon the storm giants to their aid. It was implied that this aid would be rendered only once. Do you want to use a pearl Identifying the horn and is Colby doing it or is Mary? No.

Colby was trying to purchase Fireball, Invisibility 10" and Water Breathing. It would be cheaper if Mary researched one of those. I suggest Fireball. We have no additional protections for Mary. There is a ring of protection +1 and bracers of defense (AC 8) available to purchase (2000 gp each or equivalent in magic items). I suggested she be given the bronze bear belt. If she is in melee then she can put it on and become a bear. Brown bears have AC 6, and continue to fight into negative hit points. You would have to negotiate with Danakes (or rather Nordel) for its use. But he never uses it. She may however be reticent about turning into animals given her past experiences. Mary should claim the ring of shooting stars. BTW, I would not suggest using the magic helm in the arena. There could be a permanent detect magic on the entrance to the arena which would give you away.

BTW, deduct 150 gp from Paavo and Dan. It was used to pay for Paavo's scimitar training.

Paavo suggests to Nordel and Trommer that they find someone who can teach them about desert rangering - tracking in the desert, finding water and shelter, conserving resources.
Paavo asks at the Temple for help finding a guide who would help the party navigate the desert - making sure the party is equipped for the desert conditions, leading them to the Tower of Forbidden gods, tracking down bandits, etc. How much does such a guide cost to hire by the month? What does he suggest the party purchase for going into the desert?

Paavo claims the quantum box. Dan will purchase 4 water skins and fills them with Holy Water. These will be placed in the quantum box. The thinking is that a large amount of holy water may be useful to destroy the altars of the forbidden gods.
The heavy flanged mace will also go into the quantum box. Never know when we may need another magic blunt weapon.
Henceforth, Paavo will refer to the quantum box as the q-box.

Zuhiyeh the Apothecary offers a reward of 50 dinars for each intact giant scorpion stinger brought to him. Colby may want to see if Zuhiyeh will purchase the aerial ray stingers he has. Unless he has some other plans for using poison.

Done. Paavo will offer the figurine, the wand and the ever smoking hookah (an improvement to the ever smoking bottle) in exchange for the ring of fire resistance. Ring of Fire Resistance successfully bartered for. Done. If no one has objections, Paavo will sell the 8 units and place the 480 gp in the party funds. Done. Paavo and Dan will take up residence in the Temple during their stay in Barb-el-Shay. Mary, Trommer, Nordel, Bolo and Colby still require 2 rooms at the Inn of the Seven Silks. I would suggest investing in a couple of PfE 10' Radius scrolls (800 gp). Not everyone can fit in Paavo's. And the spells will last 7 turns. And 8 more potions of healing (800 gp). If no one objects, then deduct the costs from the party funds. Done. -1600GP , +scroll & +potions He will learn these spells in case he needs them later. Done How do you place new spells on the copper tablet? Is it still 100 gp of spell ink per level of spell? Instead of a quill one uses an engraver's burin and Write Magic. It's mechanically the same. Can someone remind me how much a traveling spell book costs, how many spell levels it will hold and what its encumbrance is? I know we vary from what is in the UA. Per the House Rules: Travelling spellbooks have 30gp encumbrance value and hold 12 spell levels. Standard spellbooks have an encumbrance value of 150 and hold 36 spell levels. They don't deviate from what's listed in the Unearthed Arcana as far as cost, so 1000GP for a standard and 500GP for a travelling. That said: Spellbook costs in Barb-el-Shay: Parchment Codex: 150GP (30enc) (save as paper/parchment) (12lvls) Copper Tablets: 150GP (100enc) (save as metal, soft) (12lvls) Clay Ostracon: 375GP (60enc) (save as ceramic) (12lvls) Bronze Tablets: 375GP (100enc) (save as metal, hard) (12lvls) Travelling spellbooks: 375GP (30enc) (save as book/leather) (12lvls) Standard spellbooks: 750GP (150enc) (save as book/leather) (36lvls) (The "themed" spellbooks taken from the Palace of the Silver Princess all have a 300gp encumbrance value, they should hold 48 spell levels. I think I overlooked that.) How much do the copper tablets cost? See above. Can you add Lasting Breath to the Spellbooks thread? Done. Are there spells he is uncomfortable learning? Are any of his spells increased by being an elemancer? Air Elementalist: +25% bonus chance to learn elemental Air - 25% chance to learn non-elemental spells Memorize 1 extra spell level per level from element of specialty +2 saves vs element (Air) Cannot learn elemental Earth spells BTW, deduct 150 gp from Paavo and Dan. It was used to pay for Paavo's scimitar training. Thanks. Paavo asks at the Temple for help finding a guide who would help the party navigate the desert - making sure the party is equipped for the desert conditions, leading them to the Tower of Forbidden gods, tracking down bandits, etc. They introduce him to Khaddil, a ghul-hunter, an acquaintance of the Temples. How much does such a guide cost to hire by the month? For 300 dinars he will lead the party to the very gates of Hell. What does he suggest the party purchase for going into the desert? Hardy camels. Paavo claims the quantum box. Done. Dan will purchase 4 water skins and fills them with Holy Water. These will be placed in the quantum box. Done. 16 units of holy water in 4 waterskins. The heavy flanged mace will also go into the quantum box. Done.

Ring of Fire Resistance successfully bartered for. Paavo will wear armor in the full sun to verify that the ring of fire resistance protects him from any effects of the heat. Dan will wear the ring going forward. Instead of a quill one uses an engraver's burin and Write Magic. It's mechanically the same. Does he need to purchase a burin? If so, how much? Paavo will purchse it for him. Air Elementalist: +25% bonus chance to learn elemental Air -25% chance to learn non-elemental spells Memorize 1 extra spell level per level from element of specialty +2 saves vs element (Air) Cannot learn elemental Earth spells Does he understand Common? Can he attempt to learn the spells in Colby's spell books? If his Common is not great, does he need a Comprehend Languages before attempting a Read Magic? They introduce him to Khaddil, a ghul-hunter, an acquaintance of the Temples. For 300 dinars he will lead the party to the very gates of Hell. Hardy camels. Questions: How much do camels cost? Do we need one for each person? Do camels have the same aversion to Friedrich that other animals do? Does he not recommend walking and have the camels act as pack animals? Do we need tents?
Can I get spell descriptions for the new cleric spells as well as Lasting Breath? Paavo worries that the q-box with the additional magic items it holds would push him over his maximum number of magic items. He gives it to Trommer to carry. The anti-magic shield should protect the q-box and its contents from most anything. Paavo will claim the potion of flying. Paavo will purchase the following for Youssef: backpack 4 daggers beeswax suitable adventuring clothing and footwear waterskin Paavo will instruct Youssef on how and when to use the beeswax. Dan will purchase a backpack. Dan will purchase a leather scroll tube for the cleric scrolls. Dan will purchase clothing appropriate to the desert. Dan will create 4 light stones and give 2 of them to Youssef. Dan will give Youssef the peacock fan. Youssef should be good with it as an Air Elemancer. Dan will give 2 potions of healing to Youssef and instruct him how and when to use. If Mary does not claim the ring of shooting stars then Paavo claims it for Youssef. It will give him something useful to do. Every day, Dan will attempt a remove curse on the skull shaped bruises on Paavo and Trommer. He will enlist the aid of some of the junior clerics and use Combine to increase his effective level. He will consult the Lamas for any additional suggestions on how to remove the curse. Are there special chambers in the Temple that improve his chances? Are there intersections of ley lines that will help? Dan will ask if the Temple can create a rope or strap embedded with holy salts that can act as a re-usable barrier to ghouls. Sprinkling holy salts directly on the sand would not be very effective given the shifting sands and wind in the desert. Paavo will ask his weapons instructor whether it is possible to become proficient at fighting blind. Would such ability allow someone to gain their specialization bonuses in such circumstances? Would it be easier to hit an invisible opponent? How much would such training cost?

Paavo is on his game.
Is Trommer able to learn what local ingredients are used for bind wound treatments? Did he learn that with the advance herbolgy training?
If there is time, funds and those willing to use a language slot, Trommer is willing to teach advance first aid which heals 6 hp. How many bind wound treatments does the party have?

I counted 51 bind wound treatments among the party members.
