Let's determine if you even finish that 19 days of training first. What is preventing this? Mostly I wanted to account for the time already committed before we started adding more days. Also there was some question in my mind whether the actions of the rest of the party in those 19 days would require "in session" resolution prior to the completion of Colby's training. Finnious, for instance, is pursuing the murder investigation more zealously than I thought you guys would. If you had an opportunity to apprehend the culprits, how long could Paavo and the rest wait for Colby until they felt morally obligated to act? Would you pass the buck to the NPC authorities? I can stall some plotlines indefinitely for your training convenience, others not so much.

Trommer: Being a ranger. Doing stuff. Danakes: Collect bind wound treatments, go to Fenhold Friedrich: To Fenhold Marcus: To Fenhold Mary: fail to read book, go to Fenhold Dan: Training, helping out at the Church. Has days to spend. Paavo: How is he spending the rest of his time??? Sherlane's stableboy indicates that Shokki is restless. Bolo: Redistribute skills, travel to Cinderham and various errands. Still has a lot of time left to use. Finnious: Training, snooping around, identifying leather glove. Still has time to allocate. Are you guys picking up Stringer Bell's delivery? Ingrid: Casting remove curses, creating light stones and dark stones... Colby: Training.

That is why I put "Investigate ritualistic killings happening around town?" at the very end of the list of things to do in town. Also without Trommer, Friedrich, Colby and Marcus we have little chance against the vampires. So I figured we would wait until we were all reassembled.
I don't know if I should assume that Finn has introduced the good doctor to everyone else.
Dan, Ingrid and Paavo spend time wandering about Devonshire. Paavo uses his Detect Evil in a methodical way to find anything that ranks above societal evil. Dan and Ingrid will use Locate Object to see if they can find any coffins in unlikely locations. They can take turns riding behind Paavo on Shokki to cover more ground. If the Sheriff can provide a map they will mark possible locations on it. Otherwise they will draw their own and take notes.
Does Devonshire have a sewer system? Are there any underground constructions? Old ruins on which the city was built? We will consult with the Sheriff (or anyone he recommends) for any places that denizens of the night could harbor during the day.
We will pass word to the city guards to let them know what we will be doing. Let them know to tell us of anymore disappearances. We will stop in at the various bars and inns to ask the innkeepers to keep an ear out for the same. We give them 10 gp each and then check back every couple of days. I am sure they understand that people not going out at night is particularly bad for their business.
Banking on his goodwill with the Church, Paavo will ask if the Abbot could perform a Divination to help locate the perpetrators of these foul murders. Or if he knows of any ritual forms of locate object/person/creature that can cover move ground that Dan could use with some of the acolytes.
When not exploring Devonshire, Paavo will ride out with the courtier and knights who accompanied the Baron. I am sure some hunts have been scheduled. He will practice his sword fighting against anyone who is interested. See if anyone is more skilled than himself.
He will stop by and see Rodrigo. He will see how Rodrigo made out with the ultralight chainmail we sold him.
He will check in with Epi and Danaus to see how they are doing.

Aw heck, Bolo will do the package pickup, with or without Fin. My impression was that Fin has already said he's doing it, but either way, Bolo is in.
In his other spare time, Bolo will see if he can borrow a suitably sized pony somewhere, or rent one if necessary and not too expensive. He will ask Paavo to teach him to ride. Failing that, he will ask the same of Sherlane's stable hand.

If a pony can be procured, Paavo will teach Bolo the basics of riding. If he wants to learn to shoot from horseback he will need to ask one of the rangers to teach him.

I don't know if I should assume that Finn has introduced the good doctor to everyone else. He'll find you once you start your investigation in earnest. These efforts are unsuccessful but do take up a lot of time. Paavo is pleased to find the inhabitants of Devonshire are generally wholesome and decent folk. Does Devonshire have a sewer system? There are some streets that slope downhill. Otherwise no. Are there any underground constructions? Old ruins on which the city was built? We will consult with the Sheriff (or anyone he recommends) for any places that denizens of the night could harbor during the day. There are dungeons under the monastery. The cemetary would have catacombs, but that's all consecrated. Every inn has a cellar or basement, many homes probably as well. We will pass word to the city guards to let them know what we will be doing. Let them know to tell us of anymore disappearances. The guards are supportive. Though "detecting evil" might start to become a euphemism for tavern-hopping. We will stop in at the various bars and inns to ask the innkeepers to keep an ear out for the same. We give them 10 gp each and then check back every couple of days. I am sure they understand that people not going out at night is particularly bad for their business. That's 110GP for all the inns/taverns you know of, plus 50GP as there's a few more dives around town that you discover. This makes the party very popular. Banking on his goodwill with the Church, Paavo will ask if the Abbot could perform a Divination to help locate the perpetrators of these foul murders. Or if he knows of any ritual forms of locate object/person/creature that can cover move ground that Dan could use with some of the acolytes. Divinations have proven inconclusive. The spell gives information regarding the relative strength of creatures in the area; whether a rich, moderate or poor treasure is there; and the relative chances for incurring the wrath of evil or good supernatural, super powerful beings if the area is invaded and attacked. A ritual version of Locate Object would only increase the range by 4". When not exploring Devonshire, Paavo will ride out with the courtier and knights who accompanied the Baron. I am sure some hunts have been scheduled. The Baron is busy with war planning, rallying the populace, fund-raising, etc., but yes there is a hunt or two.. unfortunately, despite his good standing in the land, Paavo is not a knight and is not invited along. He will practice his sword fighting against anyone who is interested. See if anyone is more skilled than himself. Paavo doesn't find many knights willing to spar him and those that do are of lesser quality. He will stop by and see Rodrigo. He will see how Rodrigo made out with the ultralight chainmail we sold him. He's still fascinated by it. He hasn't been able to heat the metal to high enough temperature to recast it. If you have more he might be interested. He will check in with Epi and Danaus to see how they are doing. They're trying to find a role in this strange society. Danaus is anxious to pursue the legacy of his lost civilization. Epicaste less so.

While visiting the various inns around town, we had an odd occurrence at the Snakespit Tavern.
Paavo and his two companions (the tall thin Dan Danbury and the short squat Ingrid Stoneback) enter into the smoke-filled cantina. The murky, moldy den is filled with a startling array of unsavory characters at the long bar. At first the sight is horrifying. A huge, rough-looking bartender stops Paavo.
Bartender: We don't serve their kind here!
Paavo still recovering from the shock of seeing so many outlandish characters, doesn't quite catch the bartender's drift.
Paavo: What?
Bartender: Your druids. They'll have to wait outside. We don't want them here.
After a short pause, Paavo explained that they weren't druids but clerics. Of course if the bartender was attempting to use synecdoche (since druids are a subclass of cleric) Paavo would allow him the literary device. But that didn't help, so they waited outside while Paavo quickly concluded his business.
Weird, huh?

Post Mortem (no pun intended): We agreed that treasure found would be split 50/50 between the company and members. Training costs would be split 50/50 as well. Any shortfalls would have to be IOU's between party members. Pearls for identification of magic items are a party expense. Spell ink was a party expense this time. It was not clear if it would always be so. All magic items were identified. The phase spider was released from the quantum box. Here is how the magic items from the dragon and the castle of the silver princess were divided. As expected, it was not very equitable. Paavo: -nothing Friedrich: -nothing Trommer: -a glowing ring on a chain: spell storing: cure critical wounds, cure serious wounds Danakes: -a silver sword brooch: summons an enchanted sword. Wear it, touch it with an empty hand. Once a day. Release the sword. -chalky white potion. potion of strength. -belt of the bear Dan: -colorful beads. prayer beads. needs individual beads identified. Ingrid: -book of wise sayings and proverbs: increases wisdom by one -cleric scroll {Loviatar}: Cause Serious Wounds x3, Harm x1 Colby: -a plain gold ring: provides benefits of an Armor spell -a wand with an ivory tip: polymorph. command word - Muto. -a large glowing orange gem (Arcadius). teaches all magic. -peacock feather fan: summons the wind; once/day -a fine black robe: Deep Pockets robe* Finnious: -silver unicorn ring: dimension door up to 36" once/day -the (long)sword of Sylaire: Dragon Slayer -6 pouches of violet dust. detect magic. Bolo: -a leather glove - ignites in magical flames 2/day when the wearer wills it to burn -wooden wand. detect secret doors. command word - Detecto. -a cord belt. bind spell 2/day. -3 vials of rose-colored liquid: healing* -a red syrupy potion: cure poison Marcus: -ruby (broad)sword of Spartusia -a soulgem -anti-magic shield* -a shield-shaped brooch: summons an enchanted shield. Wear it, touch it with an empty hand. Once a day. Release the shield.* *currently on character sheet. willing to part with some or all of. please let me know who took these. - a perfume bottle. protection from good.
- red coral ring: ring of swimming
spell library: - a silver-bound book: some of the Silver Princess's musings on the nature of magic. libram of silver magic
- a scroll tied with a red ribbon (Enchant an Item)
- a scroll tied with a blue ribbon (recipe for a potion of water-breathing)
- a scroll tied with a green ribbon (Wall of Bone, Scry)
- a scroll tied with a white ribbon (Beckon)
- a scroll tied with a black ribbon (Magic Jar)
- a scroll (Invisible Stalker)
- "Entry-Level Enchanting," a spellbook
- "Introduction to the Dark Arts," a necromancer's spellbook
- "Invocation for Idiots," a spellbook
- "Mastering the Elements," a spellbook
- "The Art of Conjuration," a spellbook
- Animunculi, Creation of, a miscellaneous tome detailing the creation of gargoyles and lesser automatons.
- The Book of Shadows, a miscellaneous tome detailing the steps necessary to infuse a being with the essence of shadow, i.e. shades, shadow goblins, shadow demons, shadow dragons. Also contains the spell Summon Shadow.
- The Demonomicon, a large desk reference book
unclaimed I believe - a lightstone: sheds light in a 60' radius
- silver dreamstone pendant: makes dreams come true. It is very powerful and can be used but once per week. Also it must be recharged after each use and this can potentially be dangerous for the dreamer...
- wooden box with dancing bear: plays enchanted music when opened
- a fine saucer & teacup: sings when removed from saucer, knows over 100 songs!
- a vial of pale blue liquid: lethal poison
- golden puzzle box. opens gate to another dimension.
- a bag of beans. as expected
- a large ornate shield: cursed, missile attractor
- a large faceted green emerald. cursed. attracts monsters.
destroyed: - demon sack [evil]
- a broken black candle [evil]
- 3 silver-lidded jars [evil]

Marcus stakes no claim to either shield brooch or shield. He got his $$$.
*He took the anti-magic shield from the tomb of the Immortal King and carried it for a while until you guys traded his +1 armor for the ultra-light armor and gave the shield to Trommer. Trommer gave the shield back to Marcus when you found the large ornate shield.

Did we identify the ornate shield as +1? Who needs an upgrade? Paavo and Friedrich clearly got shafted on the magic item lottery, but Paavo doesn't use shields and Friedrich might already have a magic one. Ingrid could use it.

Bolo is carrying the three vials of rose-colored liquid (healing) and the red syrupy potion (cure disease). But IIRC the postit for the latter says cure poison, not cure disease.
If someone else would like to carry two of the three healing potions, Bolo would be happy to hand them over. He figured we shouldn't be leaving them behind in Devonshire, and no one else was taking them, but he likes to travel light and has no particular urge to be the one charged for their encumbrance.

The old arrangements HAVE to be changed drastically AND immediately to keep Friedrich in the party. The PHB on pg. 24 states Even if Paavo is willing to tolerate this, Friedrich won't. And the grand total of Friedrich cut of the treasure: Magic Axe Shield(deflect arrows) Armor Luck potion Potion of Growth (which saved a TPK AND subsequently almost got Friedrich killed as he was unable to leave the area but the party took off once they were safe EXCEPT Danakes) some gold END/LISTThis arrangement is NO longer acceptable.

That's fine, what does Friedrich want? He should obviously get one or two of the potions of healing, but I can't think of much else applicable. The fan that casts gust of wind? If something strikes his fancy, speak up! Basically we have items that no one wants, so Bolo says he'll take them and he gets them.
I'm pretty sure Bolo didn't actually take the green gem. He's crazy, but not that crazy.

Bolo will freely admit that a valuable emerald that always comes back, no matter how often you sell it, is a very tempting idea. But he did say he left it in the little white room until it disappeared, and he will say so again, if anyone asks. He is used to being doubted and will not take offense. Basically we have items that no one wants, so Bolo says he'll take them and he gets them. This is exactly correct.

We left town in a relative hurry. We were supposed to review all of the magic items (not just the most recently obtained ones) and redistribute them.
In general I will say that the pickings have been slim for the fighters through out the campaign. We have five 6th level fighters, one 5/5 cleric/fighter and one 5th level cleric, none of them have a shield with any bonuses (though 2 of them offer some protection), only three of them have magic armor, one of them has to use a cursed sword, one uses a weapon with no bonuses, one has a sword that only works for one combat each day. At the same time it seems like the magic users have been showered with wands, spell books, books to raise their level, etc. Also I think we end up with a number of magic items that we don't use or are expendable.
Of the new items, I think the unicorn ring should go to either Friedrich or Trommer. The ring will give them the extra mobility that they may need at some point. Finn has access to his magic, thief skills and 15" movement to get himself around.
I agree Friedrich should get some of the healing potions.
Trommer should reclaim the anti-magic shield.
BTW, Paavo has +3 two-handed sword, +1 plate mail, the crown of the kings (which has a side effect when used) and a potion of invulnerability. He will give up the last two if anyone wants them. He only holds onto the crown because he has the best saves.
Dan has shield breaker, the dinosaur figurine, the unidentified prayer beads and some healing water. I don't think anyone would claim he is dripping in magic items.

If/when we find ourselves with a peaceful moment, alive and free of hasted involuntary dancing, Bolo will happily let Friedrich carry two of the healing potions. We can discuss other items too, if Friedrich insists, though it seems odd that he's raising this issue now, when we just spent most of a session on divvying up loot and he didn't speak up for anything then.
Bolo's main issue with the loot at this point is that he doesn't like leaving a bunch of valuable stuff in Sherlane's basement just collecting dust. Half of us are writing IOUs to the other half, and when we get the chance to turn our accumulated monster parts into potions or cool magic cloaks, or when we want to resurrect a dead henchwoman, we don't have the dough. If we have a bunch of stuff that's not of any practical value, why aren't we converting it to cash and announcing a bigger dividend? Bolo would much rather have some more cash than a hypothetical share in a singing teacup.
In any case, Bolo thinks that right now we should focus on not dying from the hasted involuntary dancing. Any ideas?

Colby has the luckblade. After using the wish, I think it's just a regular +1 short sword. Maybe it still grants the save bonuses, but I'm unsure. I have no idea what the Heartseeker is. I can't even find it in the DMG or UA, so I can't even guess. Now that Colby is well stocked with spells, I could give it up if someone else can make a case for using it better. I still get a x3 backstab which is useful in a pinch.
