We think the Efreet has the princess but do we have any idea where he would have taken her? Maybe the Sheik knows where the Efreet is based.
If the Sheik won't let us complete the search of the ruins then we will have to sneak back in. We can tell him that we need to rest from the previous night excursions and that we will leave the following morning to find the Efreet. Then we can do another late night operation. Not exactly lawful but finding the Star Gem is for the greater good.

If necessary I'm sure we can bribe him. That seems to be the local custom.
There's no reason to contravene the Sheikh's will and risk the ire of the lawful sovereign of the land.
Besides, we can always go get the other Star Gem from the Tomb of Al-Badr(?) and when we come back maybe the Efreet's undead army will have wiped out the oasis and we can search for the last gem without issue.

Nice job everyone. The only thing that stumped us was the giant statue of Set. Also I am still not sure what to make of the room that was fireballed. Do we think the wizards three got there first and wanted to destroy any evidence that they were there? Reminder: Before we leave the warehouse Basil and Morvan should stow their dark elf items. Things to do before we head to the Crypt (order to be determined): - rest
- find out what the Sheik, Hasan and Nadron(?) are doing about the rest of the cultists
- buy supplies for the trip
- tents
- green insect repellent cloth
- more sacks
- feed for the camels
- additional camels
- Have Basil recheck the statue of Horus
- try locate object in the ruins
- ask Hasan to provide us with a guide to the Crypt (someone who can watch the camels while we are exploring the Crypt)
- see about leaving some items of value in the custody of Hasan/Sheik. or exchanging for easier to carry item.
- Speak with Dead on Corga Kazan. Others?
- See if Zomora knows anything about the fireballed room.
- Take out the giant statue?
- Get reward from Hasan and/or Sheik
- Get a weapon Zinc is proficient in
- talk to Kerina while Korus is unconscious
- check the tents belonging to the cultists (if the Sheik has not already done so)

Basil can recheck every unidentified item once he gets to 12th level. Casting detect magic in the fireballed room seems like a good idea. Also a locate object for the star gem.

Also we need to distribute the magic items. I don't remember them all. This is pretty much done already. - Corga's mace - Zinc?
- Corga's chain - Basil?
- incense of meditation - Zinc, Morvan, Rennslaer
- incense of obsession - to be destroyed (TBD)
- necklace of strangulation - TBD
- phylactery of monstrous attention - TBD?
- periapt of foul rotting - TBD
- skull of Garath - requires more study, Rennslaer for now
- statue of Horus - requires more study, Basil for now
- dark elf cloak and boots - Morvan, Basil
- Zomora's chain - Basil
- Thurnas's plate - Rennslaer
- Thurnas's tulwar - Zinc
- Wand of Paralyzation - Morvan
- Spell book - Kazan
- Spell ink, vellum, quills - Kazan
- Rennslaer's plate - Alfred
- Alfred's chain - Rennslaer
- other dark elf items - ?
What is missing? Other people to speak with dead: magic user in warehouse, Barus Broadblade. Should we recover the weird brazier? We can get Rolando to do legend lore on the items as well if we don't mind him finding out about them. Maybe his knowledge of dessert lore will be helpful.

I'm not sure what Korga's chain was, I didn't have it down as magical. Only a +1 mace.
Doesn't matter either way about the platemail, considering they're both +1, they're interchangeable. And I'm only holding Hjortor's +2 scalemail because Alfred really can't carry it. I have no interest in it.
Basil should have a suit of regular elven chainmail he can wear worst case scenario.
I'll hold onto the skull but I'm sure we'll end up destroying it.
I think all the cursed items should be destroyed immediately.
I think we should detect magic/legend lore on those Eyes of Set.

And I think we need a current party-wide magic item tally because I'm tired of getting flak.
Rensslaer: platemail +1 shield +2/+4 vs lower planar (PFE 1x a day) bastard sword +1 star gem of mo-pilar (gem of seeing) staff of smiting
Zinc: platemail +1 scimitar +2 ring of warmth scroll protection from acid scroll neutralize poison shield +3 horn of goodness (pfe 10' radius) staff of rulership (snake, thunder, lightning)
Kazan: spear +2/+3 vs giants (giantslayer!) shield +2 dagger +1 ring protection +1 bracers AC 5 scroll of protection from magic spell library
Basil: bastard sword +1
flametongue shortsword
chainmail +2 shortsword +1? rope of climbing drow chainmail +3 drow cloak & boots amulet of fire shield sling bullets +1 periapt of wound closure Flam
Morvan: mace +1 shield +2 elven chainmail ring of protection +2 wand of paralyzation drow cloak & boots horn of the wilderness (call woodland animal) amber wasp ring 3 scrolls of magic user spells, 1 of cleric spells
Alfred: platemail +1 shield +2 teodor's dagger +1/+4 vs undead dagger +1

Kazan has a +1 dagger. He loaned another to Alfred. Only one magic spear, the giant slayer. I think he has a scroll of protection from magic. The other scrolls were destroyed or transcribed. Numerous spell books.
The dark elf cloak and boots should be added to Basil and Morvan. Morvan also has the horn of wilderness.

Post by Ginger on May 10, 2010 9:59:39 GMT -5
Morvan also has the wasp ring. Zinc's 2 scrolls are a Protection from Acid and a Neutralize Poison at 10th level. He's more than happy to give them to Morvan or Rennslaer, since he's able to neutralize poison magically and they cannot. We should definitely cast detect evil on the skull (and everything else) and destroy anything that's evil.
I don't think I need any of the incense of meditation, since my healing spells already go for 8 points. It would be most useful once I can cast Flamestrike :)
We should try to recover the weird brazier if possible. Ideally, Winthrop could legend lore it before going to sleep, so he'd get 2 tries.

We're not destroying the skull until we know exactly what it does and that it can safely be destroyed. I recall Dana's use of the word "artifact" in its description.

"The Star of Khan-pelar is a clear crystal gem most valued by seers and sages, for it provided magical invigoration. The crystal has since passed out of living memory although it was once rumored to be in the area of the White Palm." Any idea what this means? Maybe that could help us search? The guildmaster of sandvoyagers, Tolnus Granicus, has not been seen for many days. His personal guard, Barus Broadblade, has also disappeared since the Prince's fiance was taken, though he was seen on the day of and following. Hmm...

Alfred has: +1 Plate mail (from Rensslaer) Hjortors dagger(sp?) +1/+4 VS undead +2 shield(also from Rensslaer) +1 dagger(from Kazan)
I had a +1 shield (also from Rensslaer) but I gave it somebody. (maybe Zinc?), and the blue +2 scale mail which Rensslaer is carrying with his 18.00 str which is basically junk as far as I am concerned so we can sell it or give it away for good will to somebody in the oasis.
Thas is it as far as magic items go for Alfred.

Thas is it as far as magic items go for Alfred. The dagger is Teodor's. Hjortor had a spear, which Kazan uses. I certainly don't have your +1 shield, I think we tithed it to Yngvar. The blue +2 scale is just surplus, as is a +1/+4 shield Rennslaer is carrying, right? Should we try to do some weapon swapping with the Sheik? I think we've got scale +2, a scimitar +2 and a mace +1 that we could trade with him. If we're spending more than a few days here, I can just swap proficiencies and learn scimitar, which is fine.

The shield +1/+4 vs. missiles was given to Yngvar to aid the clans in their struggle against Her Dark Majesty.
Let's see if the Sheikh can trade a weapon Zinc is proficient in. The less time we spend here the better. When Korus extricates himself from his situation, he'll still be the Sheikh's son and we'll still be foreign dogs.
I think after a full round of rest/memorize/heal/rest/memorize and we should set out.

Basil has the fire amulet as well. Basil makes 12th level. Alfred makes 6th level. Woo-hoo!! Alfred will inquire as to whether there might be a special longbow of some kind that he could buy/trade for. If nothing is available Alfred would still like to get 40 silver arrows to replace a whole bunch that he lost. Also, when Dana told us that we saw foot prints in the dust leading down that stair case that Alfred almost fell into, I believe that was a clear sign that somebody had just been there. None of us have any tracking skills or skills underground yet Dana specifically made it clear that we could see tracks. I believe that it is quite possible that whoever left those tracks is either in the pit or got the star gem. It's probably not a bad idea to do a detect magic and locate object in that room but my guess is we missed a good chance.

Aside from the Star Gem which we aren't keeping and the staff of smiting which he can't even use, all he has is plate +1, sword +1 and a fairly kick-ass shield.

We are all pretty low on magic items given our levels. Of course we have lost at least as many items as we currently have. We make up for it with all of the extra class abilities. It is the lack of henchmen which still surprises me. In the current campaign we are unlikely to attract any until we are back in the Land of Song or maybe the City State.

You are all triple-classed, all 18s killing machines. In case you've forgotten. I agree with Alfred that we should definitely try a few locate object/detect magic spells in the bottom of the temple. Maybe check out the above ground temple near the sandvoyager's guild also.

We're going tomb-raiding. Let's buy some camels and hire some guys. We're hauling like 50,000GP in treasure. (gems, platinum, etc) Rensslaer's got at least 20k on his character sheet. I have no doubt we can find a couple dudes looking for work.
And if they don't all die maybe we'll have some henchmen.

Basil can't wear normal chain mail, only magic chain. The elven chain is in Kerava. He doesn't have a +2 short sword. He has 13 +1 sling bullets. The Periapt of Wound Closure is with Flam.
What level do you think Flam is at this point?
Should we have a go at the other jackal-on-a-throne to get the gems in its eyes?

Morvan is willing to give up his elven chain. He can either get some non-magical plate mail or leather, depending on whether you want him to tank.
Flam is in elven chain, with a +1 dagger and maybe a +1 shield? He also has the periapt of wound closure, as a condition from his leader.
Basil can wield a dagger +1 off hand. He did for a long time when he didn't have a magical bastard sword and was going Dodenben/Teodor's Knife. What happened to Dodenben?
