I don't like the idea of resting yet, especially in this room. The magnetic wall limits our tactical mobility. The gnolls are too numerous to contain, and too chaotic to be controlled by the two or three people we would leave on guard duty.
I say we keep moving. We're bound to encounter drow at some point. Hopefully the battle with the drow will get all the Gnolls killed off, and we can upgrade to a drow prisoner or two.
If we do rest, then put the gnolls on one side, the party on the other, and the people on guard stay in the center.

I think we should press on one more room. We have too many prisoners to make resting feasible. We also have our bone statuettes which will likely not last 10 hours of rest.
If we do rest, we should have gnolls in one room, the party in the other, with both statuettes and a rider in the middle. With their exceptionally high movement rate, they'll be able to chase down anyone who comes in.

I think we should press on one more room. Any particular room in mind? If we're planning on resting, the stables are probably a good choice. Going to one of the execution chambers might let us rescue someone, or get a captive, but I doubt that a room full of fire or man-eating spiders would be comfortable locations to sleep for 8 hours.

The stables probably have a stable master who may also act as a guide. Do we think the stables are full of horses or nightmares?
Pfiffwin could make an illusion of drow and horses that we could use to gain entry into the stables. We could have everyone else invisible and have them enter at the same time as the illusions. Winthrop could remain polymorphed as a drow to bluff his way in. Or maybe Dell polymorphs into a gnoll and does the actual talking in gnollish since Winthrop doesn't speak either drow or gnollish. Do you think we can impersonate the gnoll shaman? I guess Raven also can still polymorph as long as the potion lasts.
Question for the DM: when the door to a room is closed can you hear anything from the other side of the door? we will check in both directions.

Invisibility doesn't work right in the Abyss. The souls in the floor scream to alert people that there's an invisible person there.
If the horses there are Nightmares, those can travel through the planes, right?

If the horses there are Nightmares, those can travel through the planes, right? How about if we all get on a Tenser's floating disc? Or we could be flying one foot off the ground. I think they can travel into the astral and ethereal planes. Not sure if they can get back to the prime material plane. Also they like taking good characters to Hades and leaving them there. I doubt we could use them without a charm monster spell.

Probably the way to do it is for Winthrop and Raven to go in, pretending to be drow and Winthrop will charm whoever's in there before they knows what's what.
If Adrienne will loan us the Bone Statuette of War, I doubt anyone will question us.

I think using multiple spells to help 30 people gain a slight advantage over a hypothetical stablehand is a bit excessive. Honestly, unless it's a stable for Dragonriders, I say business as usual - kick in the door waving the sword.

While Pfiffwin is experimenting with hearing noises through the door, Otto will see if he can fly higher in the confines of the room than he could on the walkway.
I am trying to think of ways Pfiffwin can be useful with his illusions in this environment. Here are some thoughts: -have an illusion of the mist rolling in to cover the walkway and obscuring the vision of someone trying to attack us. -have an illusion of the walkway turning right when it actually turns left with the party seeming to depart along the illusory walkway. maybe someone would walk over the edge. -an illusion of a hole appearing in the walkway dropping the person into the oblivion. (I don't suppose the dig wand will work here.) -giants bugs floating out of the sky. -create an illusory party in front of a door and use knock to open it. let whoever is inside attack the illusions drawing them out onto the walkway where the actual party is waiting. -a magic user holding an Egg of Lolth while riding a type I demon. :)

An honor guard of illusionary dark elves, along with our polymorphed dark elves, might make it look like we belonged here more.

I'll obviously endorse any egg-centric illusion.
From what the gnolls said, it seems like they frequently escort groups of adventurers to their deaths in the various execution chambers. If we double the number of escorts, it might make us look normal to someone who casually comes upon us.
I like the idea of an illusionary mist, but I'm not sure how that would work. Even if we know it's illusionary, it's still opaque, right?

I'm for binding wounds, healing up, and moving on. We should consider binding the Gnolls wounds as well since it will increase their loyalty while they last.
