XP 10/23/11: Paavo: 35765 (-33000) >>Dan Danbury: 7868 Friedrich 34149 (-34000) >>Mary Tanner: 5197 {3rd level } Trommer: 38516 (-30000) Colby: 51630|10746 (-17500) Danakes: 17691 Bolo: 18535 Finnious: 12966/17996 Marcus: 36784 Epicaste: 22657 Danaus: 21684 Ingrid: 13001/17788 I assumed that when we were talking about what spells to get for the wand that was out of character. In character Paavo has no special knowledge as to what spells are available. Come to think of it, I guess I assumed that too. Bolo doesn't know squat about spells either. Finnious can choose any 4 second level spells that *he* wants in trade for the wand. If he wants to change the 4 he picked next session or on the board, I'm fine with that since neither Bolo nor Paavo had any understanding of what magic-user spells he was copying and Colby was otherwise occupied. I am certain that Danakes had no idea that this was an option. If he had, he might indeed have chosen spear rather than longsword. This goes to my point about the loot distribution system being unclear, whether or not it's ultimately fair. As a ranger Danakes can train dagger, spear or sword (any). He can retrain a weapon proficiency, so if he wants something else at this point there is time and available tutelage for him to learn his preference. Things we didn't do. -look at Benasarion's scrolls -investigate the quantum box (is this a good way to hold a lot of heavy stuff?). Maybe we could use it transport around the silver chest we found under the church. we should at least get rid of the spider in it. -acquire any other spells from Sherlane -make additional copies of any spells in each others books -get more protective salts from the church -thoroughly investigate how the Colby's armband and Danakes' box work. -mend armor? -decide what we are doing next -identify studded leather armor -identify fiery orange sphere -sell unwanted magic weapons -sell/give some rockets to the alchemist. see if he can make something that is less loud and more destructive. -sell charisma brush? I am sure some Lord's wife will pay good money for it. -sell ice beads? -retrain Danakes in spear -create more spell ink with the help of the alchemist and Mary and/or Colby -see if the alchemist and/or church sell any poison antidotes. -see if the alchemist has any surplus potions for sale. Anything we can take care of on the board? -Bensarion's scrolls turn out to actually be Dread Patriach Nialghas' scrolls: - a map to the Temple of Zargon
- notes on the Tarterus System, the "prison outside of Time" with diagrams and rituals similar to those on that scroll found in the Tomb of High Kings.
- a dark prayer to Arawn with the cleric spells: Slay Living & Poison.
- A list--
a unicorn's horn, the Lineage of Kings (Red Tam), the Viper-Circled Mirror (snakes leering in the void), the Ring of Eibon, the Sword of Sylaire (Denolas?),
-if you are opening the quantum box that is something we'll need to do in session. -you'll have to wait until Sherlane returns to trade spells. -if you have the ink you can copy/trade whatever spells you like amongst one another -the Church gives out holy salts to its believers to ward off wicked spirits and the like from their homes. How much are you looking to acquire and what sort of donation are you considering in return? (consider the price equivalent to holy water) -experimentation with the strange armband and the box will have to be done in session. -you have mend spells, consider your armor mended -what are you doing next? - we'll mark off two pearls: the studded leather is heavily enchanted, its wearer protected as if they were wearing splintmail. The fiery orange sphere is a rare Ioun stone which grants its user vitality (+10HP). There's also a magic bag containing magic beans and a green potion as yet unidentified. -what weapons are you attempting to sell and to whom? -the alchemist Darokin understands the principles behind the rockets but is loathe to experiment with dangerous explosives unless he was well compensated. -whoever is carrying the ice beads and the magic brush would have to consent to sell them, then you would need to determine to whom you are selling them -Danakes can retrain any weapon of his choosing allowable by his class -We established that the alchemist can create for you 6 alliquots of ink per week*, at a cost of 150gp per. *If you pay him more he can make more. -the Church has no need to deal in poison antidotes because they have ready access to Slow Poison and Neutralize Poison. You can purchase antidotes for specific poisons from the alchemist, but a cure-all would take special ingredients: specifically a pinch of ground-up unicorn horn. -the alchemist has several potions of poison (200gp), a couple philter of loves (300GP) and a potion of waterbreathing (900GP). Questions for DM: -How does Marcus's anti-magic shield work? -Is this something that is the party's or his personal item? He's actually gotten no noticeable functionality out of it so he couldn't tell you for sure. The only magic items he considers personal property are his "lucky" broadsword, the dancing dagger, the demon mask you traded him for the helm of telepathy and a skin of healing water or two.

In my opinion I think the +3 studded leather should be worn by Danakes. It is 1 less protective than plate mail but it gives a +3 to saving throws against effects that cause damage (lightning bolt, fireball, breath weapons). He will also be able to move quicker - 12" vs. 6". Also it is easier for studded leather to fit his 6'8" frame. Paavo would like the vitality stone since he stands in the front and doesn't have Friedrich's or Trommer's high constitution. Paavo would also like the +1 plate that Marcus is wearing since he is in front and can't use a shield with his two-handed sword. I hope that doesn't seem too greedy. I think we should identify the last bag and the potion. If the bag of beans is in fact a Bag of Beans then I say we run through them while we are in town and see if there is anything useful in them. If we have a pearl remaining then we should identify the anti-magic shield to see how it works exactly. It might be better in Trommer's hand since he is in the front of the party.

That's a total of four pearls now. The green potion is an elixir of health and the bag contains magic beans; you plant one and see what happens! If we have a pearl remaining then we should identify the anti-magic shield to see how it works exactly. It might be better in Trommer's hand since he is in the front of the party. It is not magical and has previously defied attempts at identification. Is Paavo trading armor with Marcus or are you putting him in regular plate? He'll give up the anti-magic shield and the plate +1 but he wants a future consideration of magical treasure. **re: Danakes weapon proficiencies-- Don't forget he has that strange katana-longsword found in Ulshamaran that he might want to use.

I agree Paavo should have the +1 plate and the Ioun stone, and that Danakes should use the +3 studded leather. Other than the obvious advantages, it's also a very ranger-y thing to wear leathers.
Colby would like to spend a day experimenting with Fire Wings and with Word of Ioun. With Fire Wings, he'll stand in a suitably remote area before playing with fire and cast it for the first time. With Word of Ioun, he'll try enchanting different pebbles, gemstones, etc and see if they have any effect.

With Word of Ioun, he'll try enchanting different pebbles, gemstones, etc and see if they have any effect. Word of Ioun: causes three stones to take up synchronous, elliptical orbits around the Colby. They last a good long time but he cannot determine what effect they might have... he thinks maybe they shield him from incoming attacks, or increase his chance of avoiding spell effects, or potentially absorb/store spells? It's not evident from this experiment. Fire Wings: transforms Colby's arms into "phoenix-like wings of brilliant fire". He suffers no damage from this, nor do his items catch fire, but the flames are real and cause the surrounding brush to smolder. His bracers and any rings he is wearing remain. With his arms thus transformed he cannot wield items or cast spells requiring a somatic/material component. The wings cast light to a radius of 6". They allow him to fly at a rate of 24". Although they are ill-suited for combat, they can be used to batter opponents for a fair amount of damage.

Paavo: I don’t have a problem with you taking the ioun stone and armor. As a frontline fighter without a big con or dex bonus it sounds reasonable to me.
I know there is a lot of stuff to take care of during the week. So I’ll just put Mary Tanner and (later) Friedrich’s stuff here so you can get to it when you have time.
Mary: She will sleep for 8 hours and level up.
1. What types of costs are associated with training to cast 2nd level spells? Is this something that Colby or Fin can train her in ?
2. Can she attempt to use the tome that grants 5k XP again? I know Sherlane is gone to the tournament. As his former apprentice and given that he gave her permission to use it, would his library be available for training while he is away? If so she would like to try again. Maybe you could roll for Mary using the invisible caster.
3. For he new spell would Tasha’s Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter be available?

We can roll hit points and % dice at the session. Finnious or Colby can train her. 2d6+3 days, (1d6+1x100GPx3)/2 cost. She can certainly attempt to read the book at 3rd level. I'll let you roll it at the start of the session. Cannot specify any "named" spells or spells from the Unearthed Arcana to learn. You can always pull the wild card and tell me what you're after and see what random new spell I come up with.

So Friedrich will put his share of the spoils to pay for Mary Tanner's training (he does get a share right?)
Do you want to roll for training costs/time on the board or handle that on Sunday as well? I'n the interest of saving time I'm fine with doing it now if Colby or Finnious will agree to train her.
I would like a second level spell similar to Tasha’s Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter so I guess I'll take my chances and see what you come up with. So go ahead and "pull the wild card"...

You can roll it all on Sunday when you roll your HP, % dice and intelligence check to read the book.
The tedious stuff we can accomplish online is figuring out what each of you want to: identify, buy, sell, steal, train, learn, find out from the DM, etc.; and deciding collectively what you want to do next*.
Lists like Josh posted are very helpful to tie up loose ends.
*Here's some adventures to consider:
Palace of the Silver Princess (rescue princess, strike against evil forces of Denagoth)
Tears of the Rainbird (restoration of lost experience, lands of faerie, fantastic adventures)
Temple of Death (deadite apocalypse, zargon)
The Shadow-Weaver (displacer beast cloaks, friedrich's shadow, travel)
The Vernal House (red tam's bones, the lineage of kings, friedrich's shadow, abbot of cinderham, land of faerie)
The Tower of the Shadowlord (defeat the big bad, recover the elven star)
City of the Gods (unravel the mysteries of the ancients, claim the seat of immortal power)

I think we can hold off on the Shadow Lord. Restoring lost levels seems very worthwhile. Rescuing the princess also seems nice.

Danakes says:
Yes, he wants the magic studded leather armor.
He appreciates the offer of the magic spear. He's glad to know that it's an option. But he's going to stick with the longsword/katana. Are katana and regular longsword a single proficiency, or does he need to train specifically for katana? We already determined that the katana is not magical. (Right?) Can his trainer determine what special characteristics the katana has versus a regular longsword? Extra damage? Less likely to break? Bonus coolness points?
He votes for the land of faeries as our next mission.
Shopping list:
(1) A spetum. He knows he'll have a nonproficiency penalty with this, but he'd like to have one anyway, for disarming with.
(2) A set of three handbells of different pitches. He believes these will be useful when dealing with faeries.

Fin will:
-- keep the 4 spells he got from Gremmin. I didn't understand we weren't out of character when discussing them. So lesson learned for me. -- remind all that Danakes has the Charisma brush. Up to him, he thinks, if we want to sell it. -- get some more spell ink, depending on how much the party thinks we can afford. 4 more aliquots? -- he will offer to train Mary Tanner if that's still an option.
He asks the party to consider: -- letting him have the Ioun Stone of +10 HP. He only has 20 HP, but is frequently well ahead of even Paavo and the other fighters (usually while invisible, true) scouting things out as well as working to get around behind various beasties in order to backstab them. -- he is now curious about the magic studded leather. How significant would the penalties be if were to wear it? If not too severe to his sneaking around abilities, would the party consider letting him have it as well? Or, if not both, then perhaps just the Ioun Stone mentioned above? -- he would like the party to consider letting him have the next magic longsword found. He argues he'd be that much more an effective back-stabber with one. -- should any magic leather armor or other rings of protection be found, he'd like to have either (or both) as well. Bottom line: he doesn't mind scouting or being out front with his current gear, he just thinks he'd be that much more effective for the party with better stuff. -- he votes for either the Rainbird shindig or going after the Princess. Presumably, she's not only young, good-looking and rich, she'll also be ready to show appropriate gratitude to exotic-looking elves who help rescue her....

Bolo wants to hold on to the ice beads. He thinks they have been useful, and now that he has a bit of experience with how they work, he thinks he will be able to use them even more effectively. Besides, IIRC there are only two left. That said, based on Bolo's emerging understanding of the party's Loot Ownership Policy (LOP), he is open to finding out what cool and useful items we could trade them for, and perhaps reconsidering his views if their trade value is sufficiently enticing.
Bolo also has a shopping list:
1. He wants to consult with an alchemist about replenishing his supply of paralytic arrows, or even better, obtaining a shelf-stable supply of paralysis goop with which to make his own paralytic arrows as needed. He also wishes to ask the alchemist to concoct a paste containing holy salts to smear on arrows for use against undead. And he has some other questions for the alchemist that he will ask privately. For the DM: Can you please provide (privately) a cost estimate for all this?
2. He wants to consult with Gremmin about what useful magic items Gremmin might be willing to trade for some of our excess magical weapons. (He takes the point about edged versus blunt weapons, but he thinks there may still be a few extras that we could trade to maximize our capabilities as a party.) He doesn't know enough about what Gremmin might have available to be specific here, but he's heard stories in thief circles about of all sorts of cool things: potion of flying, oil of slipperiness, ring of invisibility, jewel of flawlessness, the elusive magical short sword. He figures it's likely that none of these specific items are available, though hope springs eternal in the halfling breast. This is more like a request for a catalog than a shopping list per se.
3. He wants a nice loud whistle that he can hang on a thong around his neck, for signaling to the rest of the party if we split up for any reason. Make that two whistles, so the other half of the party can signal back.
4. He wants to buy a share of an inn in Aldagmor. We can stay free with Lord Sherlane when we're in Devonshire, but this would give us a free home in Aldagmor, not to mention a source of regular cash income. He reckons 1,000gp would be enough to buy a share of a place, and we could invest more over time to bump up our ownership fraction.
5. He's been carrying around four blowguns that he can't really imagine being useful for anyone in the party. Perhaps a curio collector would like to buy them from us?

The penalties are on page 22 of Unearthed Arcana, and they're steep if you're switching from unarmored to studded leather. -40 Climb Walls, -30 Move Silently, etc. *Edit: It's even worse! You also lose the bonuses for a high DEX. I now think you should give it to Danakes and just stay in the back with Colby.
That said, I definitely think Fin should get the studded leather if he wants it. I'd say Paavo gets the armor Marcus currently has and Danakes gets the armor Paavo is wearing now. That would give Fin an AC of 0, which is pretty awesome.
Fin can also take the +1 bastard sword from Daneus, since it counts as a longsword when used one-handed.

-- he would like the party to consider letting him have the next magic longsword found. He argues he'd be that much more an effective back-stabber with one. Bolo strongly supports Fin in this proposal, on the understanding that Bolo should get the next magic shortsword. -- should any magic leather armor or other rings of protection be found, he'd like to have either (or both) as well. Bolo suggests we toss a coin for this, if and when the question arises. (Note to DM: please add a weighted coin to Bolo's shopping list.) (Note to everyone else: just kidding.) -- he votes for either the Rainbird shindig or going after the Princess. Presumably, she's not only young, good-looking and rich, she'll also be ready to show appropriate gratitude to exotic-looking elves who help rescue her.... Dream on. Silver princesses are well known to have a thing for halflings.

Danakes is excited to be getting the magic studded leather. He's fine with selling or trading the charisma brush.
Bolo is less certain that this is the right move for the party. He notes that Paavo, our designated persuader, is particularly effective in that role because of his high charisma. Surely an item that can enhance this is a useful tool, not just a cosmetic indulgence. Of course, as usual, Bolo is interested to find out what the trade-in options are, in case they turn out to be more enticing than he expects.

- A list--
a unicorn's horn, the Lineage of Kings (Red Tam), the Viper-Circled Mirror (snakes leering in the void), the Ring of Eibon, the Sword of Sylaire (Denolas?),
To clarify, does the map provide directions to the Temple, or is it a map of the Temple? We can hold onto the dark prayers and use them to defray training costs of Ingrid or Dan. if you are opening the quantum box that is something we'll need to do in session. Here is my thought on getting rid of the last phase spider. We enlist Lord Sherlane's help with the offer of some suitable recompense. A little adventure to get the juices flowing. Sherlane memorizes Wraithform, and Magic Missile x 5. We take the box somewhere we have room to manouver. Sherlane goes wraithform which allows him to attack out of phase creatures. He floats off the ground a good distance. The box is opened. Sherlane hits the spider with magic missiles or his favorite damage dealing spell which we won't mention to the church. If the spider comes in phase we hit with magic missiles or some arrows or swords. -the Church gives out holy salts to its believers to ward off wicked spirits and the like from their homes. How much are you looking to acquire and what sort of donation are you considering in return? (consider the price equivalent to holy water) -We established that the alchemist can create for you 6 alliquots of ink per week*, at a cost of 150gp per. Paavo would like to acquire 4 additional salts for the party's use. We should wait for Sherlane to return to get more inks. He seems to be able to get them at cost. Did we bring back the phase spider we killed? If the alchemist could use its venom to make a super strong spider antidote that would be great. What is the time and costs for that? We would want to keep the rest of the spider for use in making oil of etherealness at some later point. Is Paavo trading armor with Marcus or are you putting him in regular plate? He'll give up the anti-magic shield and the plate +1 but he wants a future consideration of magical treasure. Paavo will trade armor with Marcus so Marcus can still move about at full speed. Marcus will be in consideration for future magical treasure. Colby can't use a shield. Yes. That was more me volunteering to fire magic missiles at someone using the shield. ;D Or I guess I can try to web them, but that's much less fun. Paavo will volunteer to be a guinea pig. The green potion is an elixir of health and the bag contains magic beans; you plant one and see what happens! The green potion is an example of a shared magic item. Anyone can carry it but it will be used on whoever needs it. Currently Danakes is in possession of it. Does the armor fit both Fin (~ 5') and Danakes (6'8")? According to the PHB p 19, theives are not allowed the use of bastard swords. Do our house rules allow it? Considering that the sword is 4 1/2' long, a 5' elf seems unlikely to be able to use it (for backstabbing). Fin will: -- keep the 4 spells he got from Gremmin. Presumably, she's not only young, good-looking and rich, she'll also be ready to show appropriate gratitude to exotic-looking elves who help rescue her.... Paavo is excited about the fact that Finnious has gotten Strength and Continual Light. If Fin (or Colby) will provide Paavo with a daily Strength spell then he is willing to let Fin use the Ioun stone. We will certainly keep Fin in mind if magic long swords, leather armor or other items are found. Note if we find a long sword then I think Trommer should get first dibs since he is a front line fighter who is double specialized in long sword. But if it is no better than Trommer's current weapon then I think Finn should get it. I also lean towards saving the Silver Princess and the Rainbird. I think Benesarion suggested that saving the Silver Princess would be helpful for investigating the fairy lands. Question for DM: In this one of those adventures where we don't keep any treasure because everything in the Palace belongs to the Silver Princess? Or has the Silver Princess been taken from her Palace and is held someone where we get to keep what we find? Another thing to add to the list. Paavo will ask Ingrid to cast Detect Charm and Dispel Magic on everyone who is found to be charmed (after removing all potions, healing waters and continual light stones). We will do this as needed until no one appears to be charmed. We will do this on the people at the tourney when they come back. We will also use Remove Curse on Paavo and Trommer who were cursed after handling the statue in the Deadite temple.

Friedrich: 1. Is there any money available to purchase field plate or even full plate. I know everybody wants something and there is only so much to go around. But he is also one of the original members of the party and has certainly done his part in contributing to the party’s survival and taken a beating in the process.
In character: Friedrich points out that he has put himself in harm’s way plenty of times for the good of the team (as have other members) and is hardly asking for an unreasonable portion of the party spoils. He understands that, like Paavo and Trommer , he is expected to be in the middle of every fight and draw a large percentage of enemy attacks so he needs to be protected.
Out of character: I get that there is only so much to go around and Friedrich has a 19 con a 16 (almost 17) dex, plus dwarf resistances to boot so he is quite durable as is but maybe if we sell off some items we can find somebody to make a dwarf size suite of better armor.
I am wearing the same armor I have had since the second session. We’re at a huge tournament so you would think that if something like field or full plate is available in this land this might be the time/place to get it.
Friedrich will inquire as to the availability and prices of full plate or field plate and how long it would take to be fitted for one his size.

Are katana and regular longsword a single proficiency, or does he need to train specifically for katana? We already determined that the katana is not magical. (Right?) Can his trainer determine what special characteristics the katana has versus a regular longsword? Extra damage? Less likely to break? Bonus coolness points? The longsword proficiency will be enough. The sword is not magical. The katana is a single-edged slightly curved sword ending in a chisel point. It evolved gradually from the normal sword and is noted for its superior construction and design. It is perhaps one of the finest types of swords made. Great care is taken in making the katana and the forging and construction of it is considered a rare and valuable art. The weapon-smith must labor long hours to achieve the correct temper of the blade. When correctly made the blade is light, well-balanced and combines great strength with flexibility and resilience. (+1 to hit) The quality of the metal and the forging allows the blade to be ground toa razor-sharp edge. (1d10/1d12 damage) In addition such blades are ofen beautifully decovered with etched designs, prayers or family lineage. Equal attention is given to the hilt, guard and scabbard of the weapon. (+200GP value) Katanas often have individual names, reflecting deeds of glory in which it has been used. (this sword is as yet unnamed) (1) A spetum. He knows he'll have a nonproficiency penalty with this, but he'd like to have one anyway, for disarming with. Any purchases from the Player's Handbook we can do expediently in session. The pole-arm dealer inquires if you've seen the latest model of ranseur, with similar disarming functionality and added double damage feature when set to receive an opponent's charge. (2) A set of three handbells of different pitches. He believes these will be useful when dealing with faeries. These are not difficult to obtain and the cost is minimal. We'll do that in session. For the DM: Can you please provide (privately) a cost estimate for all this? Private message incoming. 2. He wants to consult with Gremmin Bolo has travelled to Castle Aldagmor to participate in the Harvest Tournament's archery competition and cannot consult with Stringer Bell's contact Gremmin. There are many more people at Castle Aldagmor than in Devonshire, as throngs of people fill the marketplace during this time of celebration. Costs for room and board are exorbitant at the few inns, sleeping space in the common rooms is at a premium. Some residents of the township of Aldagmor are quartering visitors for financial renumeration. Most everyone else is staying in a tent city which has formed up about the castle walls. Despite the Church's recent sanctions on magecraft, there are still a good number of hedgewizards and witches hawking their wares. Mostly charms to ward off spirits and ointments to ease discomfort, Bolo does find a shifty-looking, moustachio'd man who offers to sell him a magic dagger for 100GP. Interested? 3. He wants a nice loud whistle that he can hang on a thong around his neck, for signaling to the rest of the party if we split up for any reason. Make that two whistles, so the other half of the party can signal back. 10 silver per whistle. 1GP for two. Inn-keeping is a fairly lucrative business in this age, most inns are kept in the family, passed down by inheritance. If you're looking for real estate in Devonshire, Lord Sherlane can make some inquiries. 5. He's been carrying around four blowguns that he can't really imagine being useful for anyone in the party. Perhaps a curio collector would like to buy them from us? Bolo finds a buyer who would pay 10GP apiece. To clarify, does the map provide directions to the Temple, or is it a map of the Temple? It is a map to a specific peak in an unnamed mountain range south of the Great Eastern Forest. It is not otherwise helpful. Sherlane memorizes Wraithform Colby is intelligent enough to recall the last time he broached Sherlane on the subject of the necromancer's book it didn't go well and he was advised to burn it. Paavo would like to acquire 4 additional salts for the party's use. A 100GP donation is expected from a party of your means. Did we bring back the phase spider we killed? If the alchemist could use its venom to make a super strong spider antidote that would be great. What is the time and costs for that? We would want to keep the rest of the spider for use in making oil of etherealness at some later point. 500GP and it would occupy him for 5 additional days. He'd cut that price in half if you gave him the spider corpse. He's already busy the week of the tournament with making those 6 inks. Paavo will trade armor with Marcus so Marcus can still move about at full speed. Marcus will be in consideration for future magical treasure. We'll do that in session with Post-its. Paavo will volunteer to be a guinea pig. The shield does nothing against the Web spell. It does however deflect the magic missiles. Does the armor fit both Fin (~ 5') and Danakes (6'8":)? +3 studded leather will fit any medium-sized humanoid. According to the PHB p 19, theives are not allowed the use of bastard swords. Do our house rules allow it? Considering that the sword is 4 1/2' long, a 5' elf seems unlikely to be able to use it (for backstabbing). He cannot use it as a thief, nor would he receive his elven +1 bonus as it is not a longsword. Question for DM: In this one of those adventures where we don't keep any treasure because everything in the Palace belongs to the Silver Princess? Or has the Silver Princess been taken from her Palace and is held someone where we get to keep what we find? Unless you plan on looting the princess herself its fair to say whatever you find you can keep. Let's recap what we know: Some time ago the dark elf traitor Camla stole the Elven Star and delivered it to the Shadowlord. Without this relic of power, the elves were unable to withstand the armies of Denagoth. The forests of Lothenar were despoiled and the Palace of the Silver Princess overrun. The Shadowlord, allied with the Troll-king and the witch of Pohjola, has amassed a great host of beastmen, barbarians, mercenaries and monsters with which to invade the human lands. Another thing to add to the list. Paavo will ask Ingrid to cast Detect Charm and Dispel Magic on everyone who is found to be charmed Dispel Magic spell description specifically states: "...that this spell can be very effective when used upon charmed and similarly beguiled creatures." I'm just going to rule that in the "out-of-dungeon" setting it is automatically successful and everyone is uncharmed. We will also use Remove Curse on Paavo and Trommer who were cursed after handling the statue in the Deadite temple. We'll have to roll these. Friedrich will inquire as to the availability and prices of full plate or field plate and how long it would take to be fitted for one his size. Some of the finest armourers in the land are on hand for this tournament. Field plate and full plate can be purchased at standard UA costs (2000GP & 4000GP respectively), inclusive of custom-fitting, deliverable in 4 days. For a 10% surcharge they'll rush the order and have it done in 2 days.

I agree that field plate for Friedrich is a great idea. He doesn't need the mobility bonus, since he moves at a 6 anyway. Do we have 2000 GP, though? Colby can train Mary in 2nd level spells at cost, but that still won't be all that cheap. How much did we get for selling the vampire's non-magical jewelry?

I don't know if Trommer or Friedrich took large sums of money/valuables with them to the tourney. Maybe Sherlane can draw them a letter of credit. Otherwise they will need to wait until they return to Devonshire. Of course if they win something then it shouldn't be an issue.
We didn't sell the vampire jewelry. It would certainly cover that and more. We did get 3000 gp for selling the ultralight chain mail. Can Rodrigo make field and/or full plate?

Can Rodrigo make field and/or full plate? To settle his 1500GP IOU Rodrigo can provide you with a suit of refurbished field plate armor without the damage absorption. Otherwise it'll be an additional 500GP.

All:
Fin, realizing his effectiveness would be severely degraded while wearing the studded leather, thinks Paavo et al are right and that Danakes should have it.
He knew all along he couldn't use a bastard sword. The mighty god DM told him that before he went on his side trip to Afghanistan...but he is grateful for the suggestion.
He is more than willing to cast Strength on Paavo once per day, provided he gets a little study time thereafter as well to top up his active spell list. He's excited about the Ioun Stone.
He thinks Bolo's idea of the whistles is brilliant! We should have thought of that before.
He does a huge facepalm when he recalls from his elven childhood more than 600 years ago the legends of the Silver Princess...he believes we DEFINITELY need to help her out. He also recalls quite clearly that Her Highness finds hobbits diverting and amusing but hardly arousing.
Lastly, he's a little tired of all the "front line fighter" stuff being tossed around as a justification for the choicest arms & armor loot.
As he's pointed out before, he's frequently ahead of even the front line guys, snooping around -- get him an invisibility ring and he'll be out front 24/7. He's also behind the bad guys, out on a limb on his own, pretty often during melee. He can't compete with Colby for spell power, but no one can match Fin for sneaking around and dealing death and destruction from behind. Having a back-up MU is nothing to sneeze at, either.
Think how much more of the above-mentioned assorted mayhem he could deal out with a decent magic longsword and better AC.
So enough already with the "I'm a front line fighter" stuff. We all have contributions to make the success of the party, and so should we all share in it equally...or, at least more equally than hobbits or dwarves (again, I'm in character!).

Danakes thinks the katana sounds excellent. Danakes thanks the pole arm dealer for his advice and accepts his offer of a ranseur. Danakes will continue carrying the green potion of health, for the use of whoever needs it.
Bolo suspects that buying a magic dagger for 100gp from a shifty-looking, moustachio'd man at a tournament is a bit like buying a genuine Rolex watch for $100 from a shifty-looking, moustachio'd man on the street in Times Square. He expresses scepticism and offers 15gp. How does the man respond to that?
Two whistles for 1gp ... consider them bought. Four blowguns at 10gp each ... consider them sold.
By the time Bolo gets back from the tournament, perhaps some of the folk who stayed in Devonshire will already have asked Gremmin what goodies he might be willing to trade for the surplus magic weapons.
Bolo will keep his eyes and ears open for innkeepers in Aldagmor (or wherever else he finds himself over the coming months) who might need a little financial assistance in exchange for a sleeping partner in their family business. Surely some inn, somewhere, must be in the hands of an elderly couple with exorbitant medical bills and no heirs. At this time he is not interested in investing in straight real estate, but he thanks Lord Sherlane for the offer and will consider the idea for the future.
Can Bolo purchase an additional short sword in Aldagmor for the PHB price? If so, he will do that out of personal funds as it is a very modest sum.
This leaves only one item on Bolo's party-funds shopping list. He has consulted with an alchemist in Aldagmor. Sadly the alchemist didn't think much of his idea of smearing holy salt paste on arrows. Paralysis paste, however, is available. Bolo requests 275gp for this purpose. That will be enough to treat 20 arrows. (He can get enough for a dozen arrows for 200gp, but the family-size pack is a better deal.) There's not much point in getting more than this as the paste has a finite shelf life. Are Trommer and Friedrich carrying sufficient party funds to cover 275gp?

Given that we're looking for magic weapons for the party's thieves, I'll just ask Stringer directly. He knows we have coin to spend and that we're magic users who can tell the difference between the real deal and a fake. We'd like a long sword, and several daggers or short swords. We're happy to give him the commission or finders fee he'd like.
Also, while I'm doling out continual light stones, I'll assist anyone in rigging them up for hands-free use.
