So, let's analyse how we did in the Nerulite temple - what went right, what went wrong?
I think everything went pretty well - we got in, got out, there were no fatalities, and most importantly, we grabbed everything that wasn't nailed down. I think this may have been our most successful mission ever. It's certainly going to net us more cash and goodwill than anything else we've done.
What can we improve for next time? The party split up an awful lot, and we should try to avoid that - leaving people alone seems to end badly. Are there any new spells we should get? Old spells that we should use differently? Should we cut the medusa's head off and carry it around?
I still think we should hire an entourage of bearers to maintain our campsite. Hirelings are cheap, and we have cash, so why not? We could even buy another cart.
More clerical/healing support would increase the amount of time we could spend in a dungeon before retreating. One cleric isn't enough, I think.

What went right? We all lived though I am worse for the experience.
What went wrong? Fighter persons not immediately attacking the most dangeouros creature. Various party members running around doing their own thing. Fighter turning evil. We definately need to learn not to get into situations where we are attacked from three directions and monsters getting past the front line.
Having an additional medic will keep us in the field longer. That way we may be about to loot places rather than being forced to leave. Didn't that nature boy have that skill? He was pretty cheap.
Maintaining some logistical support might be worth a try. That sounds right up you alley.
There are always new spells to get. I need to get a new spell book first.
I don't think we could kill the medusa at this point. It is a prisoner though I'm not sure of the solution at the moment.

We must not forget to move all the supplies in the store room back to the House of the Blue Sun!

I think we should let the Medusa go - I mean, she hasn't done anything to us, has she? And it's just so mean to leave her there like that. Did you like it when you were in prison?
We should let her out before the Pelorites arrive - they'd kill her for sure, those bloodthirsty do-gooders.

Now I really worried. Just let her go you say. Let's see here. If we let here go then she is no longer a helpless prisoner. You would probably follow her will invisible then kill her on her front door step. Thus you have done good be destroying an evil monster. Am I getting close?

I can use the spell to turn HER invisible, so we can't see her face! I am a genius!!!
And following her to her home, well... that's just common sense. I mean, dude... treasure!!!

Good: 1. Raven didn't slay the rest of the company and use their animated corpses in his army of death. (Don't forget, there is no life but unlife!)
2. Loads of loot. Lots of gems, magical armor, magical shield, magical dagger (sort-of). And the stuff that Dell stole doesn't get shared with Garvin and Frank!
3. There's still lots of evidence to show the Pellorites, and they'll be glad that we destroyed such an evil place so close to their town. Maybe they'll lend us a priest if we go to the other big temples.
Bad: 1. Our battle positioning was very poor. We had no front line. Dell and Garvin were in hth combat for a long time, which is bad because they suck at it, but also because Garvin was missing chances to turn the undead. Raven would have been much better off behind the front line, using his bow on the non-skeletons. At least, if I was fighting in the front line, I could have had a strength spell.
2. We searched the temple in a disorganized manner, which very nearly led to disaster on several different occasions.
Lessons for next time: 1. Send an invisible Dell ahead of the party to scout. He can web/sleep groups of enemies before they can sound the alarm.
2. During combat, fall back to a more defensible position, even if it means sacrificing a round of attacks.
3. Go treasure hunting with a buddy.

First a comments. Dell, casting invisibilty on a medusa is a bad idea. Bad, bad, bad. A sack, no two sacks over her head would be much safer.
My general impression is that Dell scouting while invisible is a great idea. I doubt however that he would be willing to cast a spell while alone since that would make he be visible and seen but Dell does surprise us often. We used to have a locksmith that was very adept at scouting.
The detect alignment on the Medusa is good. We could also get Garvin to do an Augury to see if he could glean anything portents from such an outing as taking the medusa back in exchange for her treasure. With the expectation that she will try to betray us rather than give up here treasure.

So clearly, our biggest problem is positioning - we get stuck in spots where we have enemies coming from all sides. We need to be able to pick our battles better, so we can choose where and when to fight. With careful usage of Web, wizard lock, and other spells, we should be able to gain a little more control over the flow of battle.
We need some more cannon-fodder, I think - if only to have people to guard the cart and our horses. If they don't come into the dungeons with us, they don't deserve a share of the loot... but it would be nice to be able to rest with other people guarding us - or have people to carry out our treasure, dead bodies, etc. If there was a cleric in camp too, that would be great.
I don't think we should bring more people into danger with us, unless there's more clerics around, because low HP scrubs would dilute the healing - and the healing is for US, dammit.

The hirlings is a good idea. It would give extra eyes to stand watch as well. We would want to avoid having them die too often as it might make it harder to hire.
