Fin ID'd the necklace/amulet; something about divination 3 times max.
He has both Dex and Int of 19 and is willing to look at opening the fluid filled crystal globe without destroying himself and everything around him. He'd start by seeing if there's a way to drain the fluid; it got in there somehow, and maybe there's a plugged drain hole that could be unplugged. If that won't work, there're other things to consider.
The twisted silver horn is the Horn of Asheron; summons an unspecified number of warriors of undetermined ability for an unknown period of time.
We also have something like 12 unidentified potions.

Paavo will ask for a list of additional services the Astral Guide provides with details as to how they work, how often they work and if there are any limitation or side effects. Paavo will ask how does it learn. Does it need to be provided with facts to "learn"? Does it do passive learning? Paavo will ask if the facts are in some way indexed. Can it provide a high level categorization of the information it has stored? Can we get a visual representation of the information - maybe projected on a wall or seen in one's mind? Then we could use that to select items we want to find out more about. Can you post answers to these questions? Regarding the identification of magic items: -the liquid with the gem will combust as soon as the glass is opened unless it is done somewhere without oxygen. -gem in tripod is a soul gem -broadsword is a holy weapon of Mitra -footman's lance is more powerful than +2 -the soapstone dish does Create Food twice a day and Heroes' Feast once a week. At what level are these done? -the vestments act as full plate, maximize healing spells, give +3 on saves versus death magic and cause the wearer double damage for any damage he inflicts - is that correct? -we have 35 = (17x1 + 6x3) identifies over the course of the 23 day trip, that is plenty to completely identify everything except the potions. can you update the spreadsheet or the above list with identified items? I am not keen on trying to salvage the liquid that holds the gem. To that end Youssef will work with Haddiq. 1. Haddiq will create water in a container that easily holds the glass 2. Youssef will create an unseen servant 3. The servant will submerge the glass 4. The servant will break the glass using a rock 5. The servant will bring the gem to Youssef 6. The servant will slowly pour out the water into the desert sands This will all be done a safe distance from the Ship. He will then identify the gem. Youssef gets a new spell at 9th level. There are a ton of 5th level spells that are earth magic. Not so many air magic. We already have airy water. How would the Conclave feel about Cloudkill? Another option is elemental turning. Or a lower level spell like Phantasmal Force. Thoughts? Dan will start training at the temple of Thoth. He will pay any extra costs for training from an out of plan provider. When his training is complete he would like to create some scrolls - raise dead seems appropriate.

Liquid water still has oxygen dissolved in it, thought, right?
We could use There/Not There to isolate the gem from the container if someone wants to take a trip to the Barb-el-Shay vault. Maybe we could use Wall of Force to fashion a workspace and an Air Elemental to suck the air out of it? Would purify water work to turn the liquid into water?

At worst the liquid would burn on the surface of the water. The gem should be safe underwater until the fire burns out.

Another option would be to bury it in sand and then use something to break the container. The liquid should mix with the sand and greatly reduce its efficacy. We could use a couple of auguries to determine whether water or sand would be less harmful.
Paavo will use dispel magic repeatedly to see if he can neutralize the liquid as if it were a potion.

Assuming that we can eventually get the caravan to Istantar, are there additional pearls available? We need at least 2 for the ruby and the gold spear. Once that gets taken care of, we can consider item distribution.
According to character sheets posted 5/15, here's how everyone is currently kitted out. I'll note where someone is using something that doesn't properly belong to them.
Friedrich: Battle Axe of Mitra +1, +2 vs evil, +3 vs Set followers; dwarf plate +1; +3 shield brooch Mary: Bracers AC8; +1 ring of protection Paavo: Lawgiver; Chain (Damage warding); shield +3 Dan: +3 rod of flailing; ultralight plate +1; shield +1 Youssef: ring of protection +1; Colby: Frostbrand +3; Bracers AC6 (on loan from Party treasure); ring of protection +1 Haddiq: +2 flail; ringmail (MR); shield +1 Heart of Law: +3 khopesh; studded leather +3 Nordel: longbow; longsword +1 of bravery; ultralight plate +1; tower shield Haidar: mace of Mitra +1, +2 vs evil, +3 vs Set followers; chain; shield Finnious: longsword +2 Dragonslayer; elfin chain; ring of protection +4/+2 (on loan from Party treasure)
It looks like we have to distribute:
AC 1: Plate +2, golden vestments AC 2: Plate +1; plate +1 (dwarf/gnome); chain +3 AC 3: chain +2
1 shields +3 3 shields +2 shields +2
broadsword +1/+2 vs evil/+3 vs minions of Set? footman's lance, Dragonslayer Merth's serpent broadsword +2 Tarshigid's battleaxe +2
This is in addition to Basmadoos's, Mamnoon's, and Trommer's stuff, as well as several items sitting unclaimed from previous adventures.

We also need to outfit Grimstone, Tirian, Brindelbrow(?) and whoever Lee chooses to play.
Youssef is carrying Shadrach's staff but that should still be considered party treasure.
Dan would like to trade his +1 shield for a +2 shield. I am not sure if he wants to wear the vestments all of the time. The damage restriction is fairly severe. Maybe it is better to just pull it on when we need to cast a Lesser Orison. It seems unlikely that Haddiq or Haidar would want to wear them as their primary armor.
Youssef would really appreciate the +4/+2 ring of protection since right now he is AC 9.

Then assume Dan started self-training as soon as he learned no one could train him. Double time/cost: 5600GP & 30 days. Can we assume that the Ship arrives in Istantar or do we need to play out some encounters? Arriving in Aegypt in the guise of noble and wealthy folk bent on seeing the wonders of this land, you have managed to progress to the metropolis of Istantar, the capitol city of the Lower Kingdom, seat of many temples of the deities of Aegypt and the Palace of the Dragon-Pharoah. In keeping with your roles, you have stayed in the finest inns, eaten in the most expensive restaurants, visited the most famous places and seen all the sights. Hunting, fishing, luxurious accomodations, entertainment, the grand barge and more will further deplete the party coffers during their stay in Istantar. The caravan arrives on Day 23, endless rock and sand eventually giving over to the verdant green of the Nylle. No matter how the Ship is disguised, it still draws attention. The dervish mercenaries deliver the caravan merchandise to the caravanserai. Does the party want its share in trade goods or cash? The martial-artist monk Verdonitii continues onward to Dakhla Amon. are there additional pearls available? Pearls are on my commodity list, they are available in quantity. Friedrich: Battle Axe of Mitra +1, +2 vs evil, +3 vs Set followers; dwarf plate +1; +3 shield brooch Mary: Bracers AC8; +1 ring of protection With heartfelt farewells, Friedrich and Mary will depart for Fenhold by Teleport after collecting their share of the treasure, making some purchases and copying a bunch of spells. They'll leave the following with the party: gold talisman (fire shield) +3 shield brooch deep red sphere ioun stone - +1 dexterity silver unicorn ring (limited teleport) (m) ring of protection +1 helm of telepathy petrified eye of Kor-Pul'Zat glowing crystal ball skull-topped staff of striking red clay ring - elemental command: mud Oil of Disenchantment scroll - protection from earth elemental scroll - gust of wind @ 20th rose colored potion* (healing) perfume bottle PfG (7 doses) We also need to outfit Grimstone, Tirian, Brindelbrow(?) Couple more... Grimstone: sword of Kroan, chainmail, shield Tirian of Asalbar: longsword, platemail, shield Brindlebrau: shortsword, leather Moram Infidelbane: scimitar, lance, chainmail, shield Vashalla of Uthommaos: flail, chainmail, shield

The party will take its share from the caravan in cash. We will also attempt to sell the furnishing from the manor.
We will take the potions to an alchemist and pay to have them identified. We will also ask about a potion of stone to flesh. We can offer various medusa parts if that is helpful.
We will purchase 50 pearls for later identifications.
Since Moram was raised by the Temple of Thoth, he is only required to fulfill their quest. He is welcome to continue with us after that.
Paavo and Dan will find appropriate charities for tithing. 600 gp for Paavo and 400 gp for Dan. When we get the 3000 gp from the Temple of Thoth they will donate an additional 300 gp each.

I will not share the various craziness that is the Heart of Law, but he would greatly benefit from the damage reducing chain, and not really benefit from the +2 plate, so if Paavo wants to upgrade to that, I fully support it. HoL will only need a mundane shield. He is happy to have either holy avenger.
Consider him half Dariel/half Lion of Mitra, with a few very weird surprises.
EDIT: I misunderstood something and deleted the first sentence. So ignore that if you read it in the 10 minutes it was posted.

Paavo will give HoL the damage reducing chain mail and take the +2 platemail. Paavo would rather hold onto Iskander, in part because he is already double specialized. So with Holomir's blessing, HoL can have Lawgiver.
Unless one of the PC would prefer any of the following items, we will lend these items: Moram: +4 scimitar, dragonslayer footman's lance, +1 Oph's plate Tirian: +3 golden chain, Merth's +2 (long?) sword Vashalla: Tzila's field plate +4 (female) Grimstone: Merth's serpent shield +2, the +3 studded leather
Dan will take the lion-shield of Mitra +2. Haddiq should take the lion-crest shield +3 and Avvarkris' +2 chain. Nordel should take Oph's shield (Wolf) +2. Haidar can take Dan's +1 shield

Once Youssef is trained he is planning on learning teleport and visiting Barb-el-Shay. He can retrieve whatever we want from the Vault. We can store it on the ship or give to party members. He is very familiar with his parents' home and should have no problem teleporting to that location. He will use clairvoyance to check it out beforehand.

Can a magic user hold the lucky spear without a penalty? I think we've done that before where there were magic items that gave bonuses unrelated to their combat plusses. Youssef should have it in his hand when he teleports.
While Colby is in Istantar he will commission 2 Deeppockets robes from a tailor. He will consult with the Superior Priest of Thoth about the Book of Unmortality to see if it will aid the temple's efforts to locate any of the phylacteries of Pneusset.

There are also the lich history books, the lich grimoire 2 and the lich scrolls which we will share with the Temple of Thoth.
We will use the astral guide's true seeing to look at the gloomy ladder. If that doesn't reveal anything then we will identify it.
Can we perform an exorcism to remove the Ship pendant from Paavo? Would that cause unwanted attention from certain evil elemental beings? Dan will consult the Temple of Thoth. He will also start taking suggestions for Commune. He will get 9 yes/no questions every so often.

None of these are written in stone. Just trying to move things along. There are still a bunch of potions left to be Identified and distributed. I am only guessing that Lee's new character is going to be a fighter type. Youssef is grabbing stuff that looks interesting out of the Vault. Let me know if there are additional items to retrieve.

Once Youssef has retrieved the yuan-ti armband and the instruction for repairing it from the Vault, he will look for someone in Istantar capable of creating the necessary crystal/gem.
Youssef will pay for an additional 6 months for the Vault from party funds.
If we want to store some treasure in the Vault that is currently in the Ship, Youssef can take that with him.

Dan will ask at the Temple of Thoth about purchasing potions of healing. We used up most of ours in the Dark Tower.
