I figured putting it in poll form would be fun.
Options that didn't make the list:
Starting up in the Pomarj. Starting 20 years in the future to play the children of our characters. Starting a new game with no continuity ties to this one.
Those were rejected as being unsatisfying, although I totally want to play Clift's half-ogre son.

Playing the "spin-off" in the same campaign would be nerve-wracking. We'd be trying to advance quickly so we could finish the work our other PCs started. All the backstory we know and such would be annoying out-of-character knowledge: we'd be meeting NPCs we've already met, going places we've already gone, etc.

Well, I don't think we should have much say in how our new campaign starts. We go where the DM wants us to go and decide what we want to do from that frame of reference.

Thirded. I haven't seen Lee chime in yet, but I know he's been thinking about retiring Winthrop for a while now.

I agree.

Sounds like a consensus. Although I still stand by my vote that we could play as drow slaves. I think we put too much emphasis on the "Dragons" and not enough of the "Dungeons." I think Raven has the stats to dual class to a Prisoner. And Prisoners probably have a very speedy XP advancement table.
So, what characters are people going to go with? I think James should continue his tradition of screwing up the party with unhelpful behavior by playing a Paladin.
My inclination is to be a cleric if I have mediocre stats, and to be a Thief and dual class to a magic user if I have good stats.

I am thinking of dual classing as well. Probably fighter to start to get the good h.p. then maybe cleric, thief or magic user. We could do lots of low level adventuring where everyone gets a chance to dual class. And then we pick a class to build up to high levels.

I guess it's a good time to think about any house rules that we want to revisit. This is the time to overturn some of our precedents since we're starting a new campaign. Nothing comes to mind at the moment, but someone might think of something.

I made a chart.
dual-class / req. stats cleric/magic-user / 15 WIS, 17 INT druid/magic-user / 15 WIS, 15 CHA, 17 INT fighter/magic-user / 15 STR, 17 INT ranger/magic-user / 15 STR, 15 WIS, 15 CON, 17 INT paladin/magic-user / 15 STR, 15 WIS, 15 CON, 17 CHA, 17 INT illusionist/magic-user / 15 DEX, 17 INT thief/magic-user / 15 DEX, 17 INT
Good luck!

Average with
3d6: 10.5 3d6 no 1: 12 4d6 top 3: ~12.2 4d6 top 3, no 1: ~13.4
Chance of rolling 15 or higher
3d6: ~9.3% 3d6 no 1: 16% 4d6 top 3: ~23.1% 4d6 top 3, no 1: 35.2%
On average two score should be above 15. So it shouldn't be too hard to roll a character that can dual class if you spend your level increases correctly. In fact there is 51.2% chance of having a roll of 14 or better. So dual classing a second time shouldn't be that hard.

Good luck, Rose! Always remember, a battle-axe does 1d8 damage. : )
And if you talk to Bill let him know we all died!

Don't forget to look in on the bulletin board. The campaign journals just started including Samantha!
