Could you determine which god the priest worshiped? Some weird naga god, or was he a convert to the dead god? The cleric wielded a mace with a serpent head, his shield was engraved with the image of a naga. A few addendums to the story: We found a bunch of gems in one of the chests too. Also we found two additional chests which remain unopened- presumably the temple treasure. Claude was drained to man-at-arms status and then held. Wendolain was held and then drained to nothing. She is unrevivable. Florin saved vs. spell thanks to a bless and a prayer. The first lightning bolt of Pffifwin's was illusionary. The second lightning bolt didn't pass magic resistance.

Well, hitting the zombie a second time after it got up seemed to work nicely. It wasn't a strong one since it went down the first time taking about seven hit points of damage and a similar amount when it got up.

Cavaliers are immune to fear - we'll play an all cavalier party!

Anyone who "sees" the zombie stand back up is subject to a fear, unless they save vs. spell or something.
We should probably stop killing them with conventional weapons if we want to stop having to chase down our fleeing comrades.
Can't our high level clerics turn them to dust immediately?

Hugh would have had the Appr...Florin not called dibs first. As I recall Hugh did end up turning the zombie which, instead of crumbling to dust, attempted to flee down the hallway. The whole rising up / fear effect is not typical of normal zombies. Tharzidun's unholy influence is, I'm guessing, what causes that. So either we don't kill the zombies or we don't look at them after we kill them. Or we destroy them outright in one shot.

If we were all Cavaliers then it would be a comical mad rush to claim the most powerful creature to fight. We wouldn't have that problem with barbarians. Now the barbarians probably would be happy to have a cavalier along just for that reason.

If we were all cavaliers we'd be immune to fear, magical or otherwise, and projecting 1" radius auras of fear immunity.... That would be sweet.

Beyond the zombie room is a holding area containing three prisoners: an older merchant from Hookhill named Parsons and two teenagers, Mina and Darren. These prisoners had met with the Mistress, but apparently did not succumb to her charms. Did they confirm that the Mistress is in fact a naga? Did they have any information about the other children or who kidnapped them? If you need reinforcements you should get Ledonia and Eats Salmon. Also Hugh has Fido which should be helpful in finding the naga or the children. Was the snake-like creature really a statue? Pfiffwin probably wouldn't use illusions against an animated statue, it is basically the same thing as animated dead - mindless and hence impervious to illusions. If Pfiffwin is out of commission then someone should take his wands. They aren't class specific so anyone could use them if the need arose. The wand of enemy detection might be useful with Fido's tracking. You should be able to make a half move while employing it so you can tell if you are getting close.

They did confirm the naga. They said they were taken blindfolded to her. They said that she coiled around them for a while then had them taken back to their cells. They also said that the ones taken from the celss afterward never came back.
The serpent turned back into shattered stone after it was slayed.
We haven't taken an acconting of the injury situation yet. Hugh has some spells left.

They also said that the ones taken from the celss afterward never came back. Some/most/all? of the population of Orlane have been charmed by the naga. They are abducting their own people and dragging them into the swamp to be charmed or, failing that, killed. Diabolical... It's imperative we kill this vile naga and release these innocents from its thrall.

It will release Raven too. Though I don't think he qualifies as an innocent. That way he will be trustworthy until his next possession.

What's our sense of the timeline? Did people start disappearing from Orlane soon after the third naga escaped us? One way to know for sure is if we see Al's missing axe.
Don't worry about Raven, you know where his true allegiances lie. No snake creature could ever compare to the sweet embrace of unlife. Why do you think Raven is so keen on attacking King Groorg's temple? We have to destroy the big T to clear the way for the big N.

It's gotta be the same naga. The same evil cleric who escaped us at Castle Crag was there.
Claude, Wendolain and Lydonia were about a week into the swamp when we met them on our way back from Hochoch. The impression I got was that the "children" were recently missing at this time.
That month we spent training and reading yoga manuals the naga spent charming more villagers.

My guess is that she is down the other passageway in the room with the lake. The guy who opened the secret door was likely running to get her. Am I correct that we still haven't been down this way? It's not clear from the two summaries, but it seems like we explored a different way.

That month we spent training and reading yoga manuals the naga spent charming more villagers. It was not a yoga manual, and it didn't take a month to read it. It took 3 days to read it and a month of intensive exercise to develop my attribute. More importantly, I'm somewhat shocked at the firepower Castle Crag had. If one naga can apparently take over an entire town, three nagas and two rakshashas should have been able to enslave a country.

If one naga can apparently take over an entire town, three nagas and two rakshashas should have been able to enslave a country. Once they handled those pesky, 90% charm-resistant elves I think they were going to... nice work team. But... We didn't (couldn't?) interrogate Hanuman's corpse(s). And as I recall the nagas were reluctant... So we learned nothing from Castle Crag, aside from how the Frost Giants are seeking allies in the swamp. We didn't interrogate Mother Gird, that hag from the swamp who may or may not have been Kahluda. She was paralyzed but someone decided to just kill her. So we learned nothing from our trip to the swamp, aside from how nasty will'o'the-wisps are. We need to be more diligent in this regard. There is a conspiracy involving The Crown and The Dead God's followers and all sorts of horrible monsters.

How many of Otto's followers did you manage to kill this week?

Happily, nobody else died. In fact, the party slayed the naga! Well, it was more like Otto and Hugh killed the naga, because when we lost initiative, most of the low-level characters fell victim to a single fireball. Otto had to plunk the naga with his bow, though, because she was flying, and he actually went down once, before Hugh healed him back up. The naga was, in fact, the same naga from Castle Crag.
A bunch of troglodytes took the treasure, though. The party decided not to pursue them, over Hugh's objections.

I'm just now regretting not going after the treasure. The treasure was probably the same treasure that was taken out of Castle Crag combined with additional treasure from the area.

Al is going to be upset that we didn't recover his axe.
So does this mean you have left the swamp or just that the troglodytes have a head start? If Otto can get close enough to start killing them in melee combat he should restore to full hit points pretty quickly.

I believe we are still at the naga place so there is still the opportunity to go after the treasure that got away. We missed finding the secret door in temple when we were there which led directly to the naga. I admit I didn't recognize the sudden appearance of the second priest as him coming out from behind the secret door. The trogs made off with four heavy bags of loot which contained the valuable treasure including Al's axe.
Otto was able to nail the Naga with his hammer for twenty six points of damage. After the fireball, the naga webbed us which hugh burned with his sword. The damage was a bit much for Pfiffwin after the fireball so he opted not to pursue. Otto followed the retreating naga and used his expertise with the seldom used bow. The naga magic missiled otto a number of times which eventually took Otto to zero. Hugh healed Otto and then the naga cast hold person which Otto failed against. Hugh then cast Tritheron's Mark on Otto and Otto was able to overcome the hold. The naga was trapped in the room because the exit back was blocked by Hugh and the other way out was on ten feet high and it knew that Otto would run it down and easily kill it. THe naga healed itself but otto arrows fianlly took it down. Then Hugh's army of rats that he summoned earlier was able to swarm over the dead naga.

There was an earlier encouter with eight troglodytes where tehy trew mud vipers at us. Two of the party we thus poisoned an went down. Pfiffwin cast fear and Hugh tried snake charm. Almost all the trogs and snakes fled and those that saved floowed. One of the snakes was charmed. We also found a corridor full of little mud vipers. Hugh used his five flask of of oil to clear the corridor.
I probably missing some of the other bits. Florin converted to Celestian because he got healed. Hugh strated to give him a very hard time about that. I should add that we brought Eatssalmon along. He helped as well, killing the character Janes was playing after he shot the bear with an arrow. The townfolk we fine after the naga was dead. It was very apparent that it was a good thing Raven was not there. He would have definately helped his mistress out.

True, Clift was mostly dead because Frippy stopped his bleeding after deciding not to be between the bear and the Trogs. Clift was wisely trailing the party by 30 feet which saved hi from being in the naga's fireball. He had fun with a couple of the unconcious bodies afterwards by putting them in the boat and trying to row to the itreasure sland of the naga.

Importantly- we rescued all the people of Orlane from the naga and now we have to take them back to their homes.
We found lots of treasure.
Elves love the stars, thank you.

I presume that we're playing this weekend and not wussing out for Memorial Day? I haven't killed anything (with tabletop miniatures) in two weeks so I'm itching for a fight (with tabletop miniatures).

Dana has said that we are playing. No soccer game for me this Sunday so I too am looking forward to killing something (with tabletop miniatures). Hopefully we can wrap up the swamp, head down to Longspear and strike out for the mountains with minimal administrative details.

After we drop the people off at Orlane we can go back to the lair and get the four bags of loot that the trogs took (Al's axe) on our way back to Castle Hildago.
