Did you get much further after taking out the three guys behind the barred door? Find any children? The "leave nobody alive" policy of the company makes it difficult to garner information. We found some valuables which a few of the less scrupulous members of the party tried to pocket- failing that they squabbled over them like children. It was disheartening. Are these new characters we made PCs or NPCs for the purposes of the wikiBoard?

We found a naga figurine on one of the bad guy's desk, so our expert sleuthing skills tell us "The Mistress" is likely a naga.

That was my guess when I started think about it. The harpy didn't really seem powerful enough to be called the Mistress. My guess is that she is down the other passageway in the room with the lake. The guy who opened the secret door was likely running to get her.
How many Protection from Evil 10' radius spells does Hugh have? How long do they last? We need to make sure Otto, Hugh and Pfiffwin remain in them when we encounter it. The rest of the team can act as distractions. I have started to think about illusions that Pfiffwin can use and there is always the option of collapsing the roof using the dig wand.

Hugh has one POE 10' and one Monster Summoning II.

Protection from Evil cast on the charmed villagers will break the charm as long as the protection lasts.
They could maybe provide valuable intel.

Protection from Evil cast on the charmed villagers will break the charm as long as the protection lasts. They could maybe provide valuable intel. I thought the consensus view was that since the Monster Charm would not be dispelled by the circle of protection it wouldn't help in this situation. It would merely mean the naga could no longer give additional mental commands while they were protected.

It's a good thing Raven isn't on this adventure. He would have reverted to his true nature in serving his "Mistress" and be waiting to ambush us once we find her.
Monster Charm Power:Mental communication between charmer and charmee extends only to sight range or up to a 60' radius if not in sight range. Magic circles of protection (spells or specially drawn) will break the communication link and seemingly cause the charm to be broken, but unless magically dispelled, or until the power of the magic wears off, the effect is again evident when the charmee is outside such protection. As it reads to me you would still be charmed until the effect is dispelled or wears off, the 'charmer' just could not mentally communicate with you at that range. The magical circles of protection part seems like a separate clause. It will "break the communication link AND seemingly cause the charm to be broken." emphasis added
I guess I read the "and" more like an "and therefore" but you're probably right. ...

Here are some suggestions for Pfiffwin's Improved Phantasmal Forces -6 1st level archers that can act as decoys -2 giant weasels or crocodiles to go along with the real ones -6 hit dice black dragon (without an egg). not sure how effective illusory acid is. -the ceiling collapsing, marsh pouring in -6 hit dice fireball with no heat, less believable but you may get lucky
Pfiffwin has a Fear spell which might be effective against the naga. It runs away and Otto chases after it. He has one chromatic orb left which he can use as a stinking cloud or the magnetism one which does 2-16 in damage. And he has the wands of enemy detection and dig/passwall. And he has a plethora of continual darkness stones which I assume if the naga cannot see you it cannot charm you. (Otto would take that -4 to hit with no problem.) He has Invisibility and Wraithform if you need him to scout ahead though those are is preferred escape spells.
If you do get a chance to sleep he should make 7th level in thief. Go ahead and roll his hit points.

I think an illusory web is the way to go. The thing I'm most worried about is the naga attacking us from the air where Otto can't get it. The web doesn't need to be real and sticky, the naga just needs to see that the upper end of the room is filled with web so it can't hide up there and cast spells.

Then Hugh will hit the naga with Snake Charm. No save (d4+4 rounds minimum) for 32-40 hp worth of snake. Game over as long as it/they can be hit and the naga is 7 hd or under. Otherwise Snake Charm won't work.

Check the spell explanation in the DMG (page 41). It includes nagas. Of course there is still the magic resistance and how many hit points it has to get by.
You still have much to learn, apprentice.

Probably not. The spell isn't specific on it but you never know til you try. However Hugh would only have a 40% of success if it gets through the magic resistance.

Perhaps we could repeatedly strike it with something until it stops moving? If by "we" you mean "Otto" then sure, that's a great plan. However, I think that the naga will be too smart for that. I know that if I were a flying creature, I would be out of sword reach during the whole fight, and without either of our bow-specialist Lords, we'll have trouble shooting it.

We should have Otto hang back. After it handily trounces all us noobs it'll be lulled into a false sense of security and will be completely unsuspecting of the high-level cuisinart that is Otto.

Otherwise Snake Charm won't work. Note that the spell is based on hit points and not hit dice. I think you can game it a little by casting Aid on Hugh beforehand, giving him additional hit points and hitting the Naga with an arrow or two to soften it up.

I don't think Aid would work. The number of hit die or hit points that hugh can affect is based on his level. Aid doesn't increase his level. At least that's how I read it. Hugh could use his Spiritual Hammer, though I have to check to see if he prayed for it already.

I disagree. I'll have to double check the exact wording, but it never mentions levels or hit dice except as examples of averages. It says stuff like, "a first level cleric will be able to charm on average 5-8 hit points of snakes." I don't think that means that a cleric of 8th level would charm between 32 and 40 hp of snakes, but that he would charm a snake that has hit points equal to or greater than his.

I have lots of free time at work until this afternoon, and since James, David, and Josh were all absent, I'll share the detailed story.
The mistress still hasn't been found yet. A thorough search of nearby caverns and passageways yields a respectable quantity of copper and silver coinage and two frogs, quickly dispatched. A storage room is also discovered, and Clift also takes a collection of spikes found within. The party heads back towards the weasel hole and explores a different, unexplored path. While walking along a corridor, they are ambushed by troglodytes, who put scratches on a few of the party members before fleeing and being hunted down by Otto.
The party follows in the direction of the fleeing troglodytes, which is toward a somewhat watery chamber with stepping stones leading in multiple directions. They encounter a zombie, which is slain without consequence. The party ascends the right-hand path towards a room. Then, while scouting ahead, Otto and Florin encounter another zombie hiding behind a large support pillar. Florin says something like, "I can take care of this." Otto obliges Florin's request, and Florin indeed strikes down the foul undead.
A few minutes later, the zombie rises up again, sending all but Otto, Hugh and someone (Wendolain?) into throes of panic. The rest of the party scatters, heading back to the watery chamber with multiple paths. While Hugh and assistant deal with the zombie, Otto races to corral the frightened party. He first tackles Claude, who is lumbering behind in plate mail. He then heads down an unexplored passage to find a Samantha-shaped outline and an unconscious Frippy stuck in mud, the latter being eaten by centipedes. Otto slays all the centipedes in one seemingly continuous motion, but Frippy, despite his halfling constitution, ultimately succumbs to the venom of the centipedes. Otto hauls Frippy's body and the invisible Samantha back to the party. Hugh casts Slow Poison on Frippy, who begins breathing again, but remains on the verge of death.
Beyond the zombie room is a holding area containing three prisoners: an older merchant from Hookhill named Parsons and two teenagers, Mina and Darren. These prisoners had met with the Mistress, but apparently did not succumb to her charms. It seems they were going to be made into zombies. The merchant offers $100 gp per person to be brought to freedom immediately. Clift is quite enamored of the offer. Pfiffwin considers going with Clift, being the only party member capable of talking to the giant weasel, but ultimately stays with the party.
While Clift guards the prisoners and Frippi's body, the rest of the party presses onward and discovers a temple with a statue of a naga. A priest and a shadowy figure are in the room. Otto slays the priest while other party members engage the shaded creature. Suddenly, another priest emerges from behind the altar and holds Otto in the embrace of his dark god. The statue animates (but is not the naga) and charges Pfiffwin. The shadowy creature, Hugh realizes, is a wight.
With Otto held, the battle is protracted and difficult. While Pfiffwin engages in a duel with the animated statue, Hugh, Florin and Claude attempt to engage the wight, and the remainder of the party (except for the invisible Sam) engages the priest. Pfiffwin disarms the statue with a chromatic orb. He then launches a lightning bolt at the statue, which catches Florin as well, knocking him unconscious. Claude is struck by the wight and feels weakened. The priest seems nigh untouchable, given the limited fighting prowess of the remaining party members. Adler falls to a wounding touch by the priest. Wendolain moves to heal Florin, but immediately after, she and Claude are also held by the will of the priest. The priest cries to the wight, "Attack the paralyzed prisoners!" The wight obeys and drains Wendolain, causing her to fall unconscious. Otto seeths and froths, unable to aid his faithful followers.
Meanwhile, Pfiffwin is having a hard time with the statue. The snake-like creature dodges pits and resists a second lightning bolt. Suddenly, 5 copies of Sam appear in the room, launching darts at the statue. Some darts strike home, but the statue, undeterred, continues its relentless assault on Pfiffwin. The gnome attemts mirror images of his own, but a lucky strike by the snake statue finds the true Pfiffwin, and he and his two images fall unconscious. The statue turns to face Sam.
The wight and Hugh return to exchanging blows. The wight is clearly weakened by Hugh's earlier strikes, but the priest of Trithereon seems unable to land the killing blow. The devious priest attempts to hold Otto again, but fails. He tries yet a third time, and fails again. Otto, at last free to act, quickly slays the priest, at the same time Hugh destroys the wight and Sam's darts finish the weakened statue creature. The party claims victory, but at great cost - Wendolain has been slain, Claude has been drained by the wight, Pfiffwin is gravely injured, and the party is low on magics.

Not quite but it was a draining experience for Otto's henchmen and Otto was immobile while it happened.
We did a lot of running around the place. Were set upon by eight Troglydites. Dug out a tunnel to find three chests. When we entered a room with a column a zombie came out from behind the pillar. Florin said 'I'll take care of this!" and honoring Company tradition set by Raven he was allowed to. He did strike it down but the fun was when it stood back up. That was when All but one of the loere level characters ran in Fear. Otto decided to run after them while hugh fnished off the zombie. Frippy the Tall ended up dead and poisoned by centipedes in his fearful flight. Otto was able to catch up and slay the 9 centipedes in one round to keep Frippy from being dead dead. We then found some cells with two children and an old man. Clift stay with them becasue the old man offere 100gp to be taken immediately out of the place. The rest of the party entered a temple where two figures stood. Otto ran up and quickly slew the priest. Hugh went after the cloaked figure which turned out to be a Wraith with the others following in. Then another priest stepped up and held Otto in place. The evil priest was eventually recognized as the the one that got away (no good dead goes unpunished). Then the serpent staute came alive and went after Pfiffwin with a vengance. Pfiffwin used his Chromatic Orb to magnetized the serpents sword to itself. Then when being attacked by it with it claws and bite used his wands by lightining bolt and trying to drop it in a hole. While the wraith was attacking Hugh, Hugh tried to Hold the priest which failed then tried to turn the wraith. That didn't work too well in its own temple. A Bless was cast and Claude and Florin went after the priest. The wraith eventually drained one the fighters down to a man-at-arms status. Hugh cast prayer and the evil priest held three other of Otto's follows. With hugh being very ineffective at hitting the Wriath he finally at the whisperings from Trithereon ignited hi flaming sword. THe Evil Priest however shouted at teh stupid wriath to drain the ones held. The wriath then looked at Otto who looked extermly tasty by with for the other hold character whose name I forget and drained to zero hit points and went into a coma. Meanwhile sam came to Pfiffwin's aid after casting mirror Image on herself and started showering the sepent with darts and striking it. Pfiffwin also cast Mirror Image but wasn't as lucky as Sam, who had two of her images struck down, and was struck down by the serpent. Sam was then able to hit the serpent again with her darts to finally slay. Meanwhile the evil priest knowing that his hold on Otto was going to wear off trien to hold him again and again failing both times. This lead to his immediate death as Ootto was frothing at the mouth over the indignity of being held and seeing his people be drained by the wraith chopped the priert up. Hugh was finally after many rounds of fighting the wriath was able to slay it. Thus ended the fight against Thirzadun.

Could you determine which god the priest worshiped? Some weird naga god, or was he a convert to the dead god?
These zombies which pop back to life and make everyone afraid should be studied. We found some in Sterich and we need to figure out how to hit them so they don't come back up.
