Can't someone just recognize his own spell books? It is not like all books are exactly the same. Are you worried that some extra protections have been added to the spell books that might affect the original owners?

Can't someone just recognize his own spell books? It is not like all books are exactly the same. Are you worried that some extra protections have been added to the spell books that might affect the original owners? These are three magical tomes that look identical to our spellbooks. They alter and shift their appearance to disguise themselves among other books so that they can't be told apart just by looking at them. Usually such books are class or alignment specific and can do terrible things to the uninitated reader. They aren't just copies of our books.

Since there are three extra books you should at least be able to pull out the books that don't have duplicates.

I think the point is that they are constantly shifting to look like other books. Any book selected from the collection could be one of these three extra books. It is a kind of Russian Roulette.
This being said how do we know it was Pfiffwin's spell book that was destroyed instead of one of these extra books.

That's what Unseen Servants are for.

This being said how do we know it was Pfiffwin's spell book that was destroyed instead of one of these extra books. In character, we have no idea. Out of character, because the DM said "Roll to save for Pfiffwin's spell books" and I rolled a one for one of the books.

I have an interesting thought. Now that Cedrus is 9th Level and can Plane Shift, we could head into the black globes of death surrounding the leaders of Keoland, Geoff, etc. Isn't there one in Longspear? We could experiment with that one.

No changing the plan! Besides, some people may be willing to follow Raven into hell, but I doubt Cedrus is one of them.

Just to save time, I decided who gets what magical book. Tome of leadership and Influence: Raven Antonus has a better charisma. It would be of more benefit to him.

It's kind of silly discussing such things prematurely, but it's probably best giving him the CHA boost. If I have +5 reaction adjustment, that doesn't matter much, but if we give Antonus +15, we'd just designate him to do all the talking. We blame him for enough stuff as it is, so we might as well make it official. If only those ghostly soldiers had made a reaction check when he shook his staff at them.

Of course that's the sensible choice - it's just that when I see the word "Leadership," I naturally think of Raven.

Besides, some people may be willing to follow Raven into hell, but I doubt Cedrus is one of them. We're going there after the D series. This is probably just a minorly evil dimension. No problem.

I'm not too worried about the D series because I figure we'll be so torn up after G-3 that we won't be able to face it.
