Pillage, then burn. It's a well known rule. Well known to everyone except for Winthrop, that is.
The "fight" was really more of a "slaughter" - Winthrop polymorphed into a bird, then flew in to do some recon. Finding the leaders, with their valuable jewels and magical items, all in the main tent arguing about what to do next - sort of like we do. So he decides to fly away, morph back into a person, cast protection from missiles and minor globe, and then turns back into a bird, flies over their tent, turns into a human, levitates with his boots, and nukes them from orbit.
Nothing survived inside the tent.
Meanwhile, we realize that Winthrop has sent us the signal, and are rushing to join the fight. Winthrop throws magic around like a madman, the enemy dies in waves, and no one on our side gets hurt except for Diego, who caught an arrow while we were charging at the peasant militia guarding the gate.
All the maps, notes, and other information is lost, as the main tent (and all the other tents near it) go up in flames. The magic items they might have are likewise destroyed - except for three.
The people flee, and we allow them to run away. The surviviors give us some information, most of which is very boring. Cedrus interrogates the corpses for some vague information, which is slightly less boring. And we take 70 horses and 100 prisoners back to the keep, where we sell them off.
Jasper has a war horse now. He still won't ride it, but it gives him a friend to talk to that's roughly on the same intellectual level. Also, the horse is a better fighter than he is right now.
Anyway, to make a long story shory, we're back in Longspear. The money we got was spent to provide training for everyone that needed it. That's Max, Hugo, Winthrop, and Dell.
As far as magic items that survived Winthrop's blasts of fire and lightning... we have three. Max, realizing that survival is more important than fashion, is wearing a new and badly scorched set of platemail. Cedrus is rocking a shield which held an emblem of some kind. Said emblem is now burnt off. And a Bastard Sword which has not been distributed. No one in the group is proficient with this weapon. Dell thinks we should see if Frank wants to buy it.
Our next order of business is to find Dredd and Elsie, and take our stuff back from them, assuming they still have any of it. At least, that's what I understand the leader wants us to do.
