It seems to me (and I am never wrong) that Winthrop has gotten the best stuff from the most recent adventures. From the underwater adventure, he got the Necton book, the magical lectern that it sits on, an awesomely powerful magical sword, and a spellbook. From the assassination attempt, he got two evil swords, levitation boots, a ring that lets him not eat or sleep, and a set of ring mail (for his new henchman).
That's nine items. Nine. Some of us don't even have nine magic items.
And of course, there is the matter of the training he needs. My feeling is that we should contribute all funds towards this end right now, and have the next few distributions of funds and items bypass him... so he would owe the group 10,000 gold and some amount of items - five or six, maybe? I dunno.
What does the leader think of all this?

I have no problem with that.

That's fine with me as well. I think that our distribution is pretty good, as things in general are going to those who can use them best.

I've always been an advocate of people getting the items they could best use - maximizing the party's capabilities is in everyone's interest. This is why Al gets a kick ass battle axe that he technically doesn't deserve. But some inefficiencies must be allowed in order to preserve fairness. In other words, I'm greedy and I want more stuff.

I think this is reasonable. Of course Winthrop isn't going to be turning tenth level anytime soon and hopefully by then he will have saved up the necessary money. Also if someone is not on an adventure they shouldn't expect much of anything that is recovered. I am not expecting anything while Otto is away in Farvale. There is a debt to 2000 gp for raising Al and the items that Winthrop got preference on that I am expecting recompense for when I return.

Don't worry Otto, we'll pick you up something shiny while you're away.

Excellent! I was thinking something like a +5 defender would be nice. But +3 shield would also do the trick. Anything to lower my AC while I stand in the front and get pounded on or something I can do more pounding with.

I was just thinking... if Addy were my henchman, he could have totally used one of those evil swords! Of course, then the sword would dominate his feeble mind and he'd try to kill us all...
Clearly, I need an evil henchman.

FYI, I'll be in Wisconsin this weekend. Raven and Jasper will certainly accompany the party where they go, as the company will collapse without leadership.

So Jasper will take care of Raven when his notoriously sensitive stomach acts up - gotcha.
