I noticed that the extra attack action that gives certain classes an additional attack only functions on their actual turn. So when a fighter with two attacks readies an action to attack something that comes near or takes an attack of opportunity on a retreating creature that did not disengage, they would only get one attack and not the extra attack.
It makes readying an attack a little less advantageous all time and retreating from a fighter a little more survivable.
