Does Paavo get half off training because one of the clerics can do it? Sure. I'll cut the price of those pre-paid training costs in half. Mudship questions are all sort of "try and find out," but some of them I will answer. Is the ship's movement rate affected by terrain? For instance, would hills slow it? Yes. Like rough seas. How fast does it move through a swamp? Stands to reason somewhere in between water and land... 4m/h on land 5.5m/h in mud 7m/h in water I assume it can't pass through a dense forest, right? Correct. How long can Paavo maintain emergency speed? As many rounds as points of constitution. Can you use it for ramming? At sea, against other ships, it could be pretty effective. What would happen if you plowed into a mass of orcs? This one is a try and find out. How much damage do you take from being run over by a mudship? Maybe you can get Friedrich to volunteer.

In the list of treasure there is a Blue metal box we took from Tzila. Is there anything special about this box? It certainly is light. What are its dimensions? Or rather how much does it hold? Can we determine what kind of metal it is made from? Are there straps for holding it? Is it open at the top or does it have a lid?
Paavo is thinking of placing it inside his backpack as an additional layer of protection for valuable items.

Kinda like this but no ornamentation or mirror. Tacky red lining, yes.

Got it. Thanks. Nothing special but still some place to store small things so they don't fall to the bottom of the backpack. Paavo will take it. He will put Fizzi tablet into it.

I suppose that since ther are two mace's, Trommer will use his new proficiency slot to train in its use. I can't think of anything else to do with his time at the moment so he will search for bind wounds treatments after training.
He will also give up the two two-handed swords for others to use or placed into storage.
If we are traveling by sea we might want to bring the blue plate mail along.
Can a Helm of Telepathy be used through a cystal ball?
Should we purchased the Oil of Disenchantment to use on a cursed item to get the raw materials? Can the alchemist make more? If not what special ingredients does he need? We have a bunch of cursed and evil items to get raw materials from. Should we stop and visit Kandrii?
If you are wearing a Helm of Midshielding while using a crystal ball, can you be personally identified if detected?
Can the Pearl of Fire Resistance be recharged/repaired?

After the stoning incident, Mamnoon is really going to try to limit his role more to carrying stuff/bodyguarding Youssef and less anything else. He would decline these items and he understands if the party thinks the powerfully enchanted +4 scimitar would be better off with someone else. Exactly what I was thinking (and why I have been pushing for him to get stronger). If Basmadoos wants the +4 scimitar, Mamnoon will trade. Paavo will go back to using the +10 hp Ioun Stone.

Storage is either on the ship or in the qbox or sent to Devonshire. No sea travel. That would expose the ship to the notice of Olhydra. The Oil of Disenchantment is one of the potions we got from Tomb. I had the alchemist identify them. I think item creation is on hold again. Also it appears that the main cost of fabricating magic weapons and armor is not the smithing or the raw materials, but rather the enchanting. Trommer has time to visit Kandrii while the others are busy. Or we can all go together when heading south.

I suppose that since ther are two mace's, Trommer will use his new proficiency slot to train in its use. I can't think of anything else to do with his time at the moment so he will search for bind wounds treatments after training. Trommer can learn mace in the 28 day span. He can also search for and assemble bind wounds treatments. He is able to find 12If he's also visiting that eccentric alchemist on the coast let me know. Can a Helm of Telepathy be used through a cystal ball? No, unless the crystal ball possesses telepathy... which this one does not. There are only two spells that can be cast through a crystal ball per the DMG, Detect Magic and Detect Good/Evil, and those only with a 5% chance per level of success. ...Oil of Disenchantment... Can the alchemist make more? If not what special ingredients does he need? An alchemist, given a potion and enough time, can usually work out the formula. Special ingredients for Oil of Disenchantment: the only thing that pops into my mind is the central eye of a Beholder or a Disenchanter from the Fiend Folio. ...If you are wearing a Helm of Midshielding while using a crystal ball, can you be personally identified if detected? No. Though that answer would be the same if you weren't wearing a Helm of Mindshielding. I don't think that detection of scrying reveals anything about the scryer. ...Can the Pearl of Fire Resistance be recharged/repaired? The pearl is actually Protection from Fire, which is total immunity to fire damage up to a certain hit point threshold. The party needs to propose the means by which they are recharging this unique, never-before-seen magic item which is imbued with powerful DRAGON magic from the Far East. Asking the DM is not going to get you anywhere.

It seems similar to the druidic Protection from Fire spell, so I suspect that once we find a druid to train Trommer, he can take a look at recharging the pearl.

And I will remind you that he referred to the nearby mountains and their immediate vicinity as dangerous "dragon territory". You could also try to find a dragon who was willing to provide you the information you are looking for. Acornelius -venture to Drachentrog and recover an Orb of Dragonkind in exchange for advanced magic-user training And there is Acornelius.

Having read the Devonshire thread, do you think this trip counts as a solo adventure? This is definitely in the vicinity of Pentadastion, so no. Trommer finds that the alchemist lives in an old stone tower bespattered with bird droppings down by the seashore, the outside of which is littered with flasks, pots and receptacles of every description. Kandirii is an odd, bespectacled human and from his outlandish speech patterns and coloration (a shade of purple) it is obvious he hails from the distant south. He has about him a "luminous feculence." He explains that he must peddle crude alchemies so that he might afford to continue his work on the "transcendence of materiality." He offers some potions & enchanted oils: Potion of Waterbreathing - 300GP/dose (minimum 4) Potion of Firebreath - 1200GP/draught (minimum 4) Oil of Slipperiness - 200GP/application (minimum 4) Oil of Impact - 1800/application (minimum of 3) Oil of Fiery Burning - 4500GP/flask He also sells some "combustibles" & ...weirder stuff: A dozen " Brimstone Grenadoes:" iron spheres which he claims will explode with "appalling force and smoke and shrapnel." 1200GP/each "Three gold and purple striped Incendiary Battle-Rockets" which he explains will unleash "shrieking purple hell-fire" on your enemies. 500GP/each "An Aqueous Humour of potent corrosive virtue in a stoneware jar sealed with resin and marked with a glyph of impenetrability." He claims it is a universal solvent that "melts most things." 8000/GP The Nereid Clyster which he claims will grant a permanent ability to breathe water, though states that "imbuing the entity is a painful and bizarre ordeal" and it will manifests itself in the host "as green turbulence behind the eyes and the stink of brine and kelp", promoting characteristics of "fickle indifference. " (10000GP) And finally the Russet Glimme which he rapturously describes as "an excoriating cinderflicker entropy of the passage of aeons glimmering in a fragment of moment, a thing that burns though vision like the sun, staining magenta and turquoise afterimages onto the retina." (10000GP) Seeing Trommer's confused look, he clarifies that it is "a little man of rust living in a lead box."

If Youssef still has free days then he will continue to identify the staff and the earth gem (assuming he can as an Air Elementalist).
Does Honapo's khopesh retain the ability to turn individuals to stone on a natural 20?
Is it possible to remove the gems from the girdle? What would they be worth?

If Youssef still has free days then he will continue to identify the staff and the earth gem (assuming he can as an Air Elementalist). I'm going to say "no" on the Earth Gem, being what it is. Youssef has 5 days free, assuming he will write those spells after day 28. 5 pearls used: gnarled oak staff w/ elemental runes (" Staff of the Elements") (moderately enchanted) Tier 1| (no charges) (1/day affect normal fires, create water, feather fall, fist of stone) Tier 2| (1 charge*) (MU only) fire: (flaming sphere, pyrotechnics) air: (gust of wind, wind wall) water: (water-breating, water walk) earth: (shatter, meld into stone) Tier 3| (2 charges*) (Elementalist only) fire: (more, more), air: (more, more) water: (more, more) earth: (more, more) (more*) (more) 6 more Identifications required. Is it possible to remove the gems from the girdle? What would they be worth? After some consideration, I don't like this item in the campaign as described in the DMG. It was in the module so I went with it. But I don't want to deal with complicated gender issues while we're killing orcs... The girdle will grant +2 charisma to its wearer when dealing with the opposite sex (max 18). It looks like its worth 7000GP. Does Honapo's khopesh retain the ability to turn individuals to stone on a natural 20? It only grants immunity to the petrifaction now. Some DM comments about the module we just played: As written, the module is arbitrarily stingy. So much so, the DM had to make a few changes.
The Tzila encounter states: "Tzila's robes and mace lose their dweomer when she is slain."
What a crock. Averted by her going to 0 instead of death.
And: "Beneath Tzila's body is a secret compartment (found on a roll of 1 in 4, 2 in 4 by an elf) that holds a locked iron box (2'x1'x1/2'). The box is filled with 125 pebbles that appear to be 100GP gems (tourmalines, pearls, and aquamarines) and five larger rocks that appear to be 10,000GP emeralds. Though a gem of seeing will reveal this ruse, the true nature of the box's contents will become apparent to all when it is taken 20 miles from the tomb." That's just rude.
The gauntlets were actually gauntlets of fumbling, but I couldn't take away the joy actual gauntlets of ogre power would bring to the players.
The super-powered Guardian was supposed to turn back to marble, leaving only the oval stone.
The oval stone that the Guardian used on the party to cast some of his Earth effects (Wall of Stone, Passwall, ???) "acts as a key for the party to escape the tomb, though it will not reproduce the aforementioned powers."
Tzolo's vault held "nine locked iron chests against the east wall, each containing 1,200 cp ensorcelled so as to appear as gold. This effect will be nullified when the coins have been out of the tomb for 24 hours."
And hilariously most of the items found "scattered about the floor" of the final vault were worthless and "[had] Nystul's magic aura cast on them." (the quiver, the wands, the staff, the javelins, the axes, etc.)

I have tried to do more work on the magic item distribution. This is just a proposal. The clerics didn't fare as well this time around. I indicated who was giving up certain items. I mainly only spoke for my characters. Others may have some trades to suggest. I would suggest giving Basmadoos the +3 shield brooch and Friedrich retaining the +1 shield. Friedrich is getting the +1 DEX ioun stone. Basmadoos will be spending more time in the front and his AC and hp aren't so great. This is something Friedrich will have to agree to. Character | From | Item | Comments | Azhbar | Bolo | potions of Extra Healing (sealed metal vial / deep rose-colored) | good to have. left behind by Bolo | Azhbar | | +3 elephant spirit's khopesh sword, immunity to petrifaction | melee weapon when crossbow doesn't work | Azhbar | | 2, javelins of piercing | distance weapon when crossbow doesn't work | Basmadoos | Friedrich | +1 shield | trade up | Basmadoos | Mamnoon | +4 scimitar | Mamnoon no longer front line, gets more attacks | Basmadoos | | +2 khopesh sword set w/ tourmaline | not really needed now | Basmadoos | | potions of Extra Healing (sealed metal vial / deep rose-colored) | good to have | Nordel | | 2, javelins of piercing | has good DEX | Colby | Bolo | Potion of Sweet-water (porcelain vial) | good against poison and acid, can you purchase a syringe? While Colby made out pretty well, he'd really like the Ring of Elemental Command. I'm thinking of learning Transmute Rock To Mud to take advantage of it's ability to Transmute Mud to Rock. Colby will give up the Ring of Lesser Time Reversal in its place.
Otherwise, my only other fix is that Friedrich doesn't need both +2 axes of throwing. While he can throw multiple axes per round, it returns in time for him to only need one. The other can go to whoever wants it.

HA!!! +5 actually for Friedrich's save bonus for being a dwarf actually. Since when did I have a ring of spell turning? If somebody else wants it they can take it. I know I had a ring that had some spells stored in it on my character sheet but I certainly made no claim to that. I guess I could give it to Mary though. It's good to keep the henchman happy.

:'( Axe of wounding is and has always been +1 and prevents magical healing and does extra bleeding damage. Friedrich has been carrying it since Demogorgon's shrine... It doesn't change the fact that the weapon is not particularly good. I've crunched the numbers. It sucks, bleeding damage and all. It's a classic gimmick item that in some instances could be of use. Say what you want about the bardiche. It's not a weapon he's double specialized in. Regarding this dwarven size chain mail that was +1 or +2 that actually existed; great. It would have actually lowered his AC...not exactly the goal. Bottom line is a 9th level fighter who's been at almost every, session has a +1 shield, +0 armor and an assortment of junky axes, none of which aggregate more expected damage than the +2 that the black iron axe does (sometimes). There are many more powerful weapons floating around the party. I know you said we missed a room with a "magic axe" once. Oh well. It was probably right before we found the disrupter blade and right after we found the holy avenger I'm guessing. +0 armor +1 gimmick axe, + 1 magic axe, +0/+2 axe +1 shield Lord Friedrich.

I can't even go there anymore. The DM is more than generous with magic items, weapons and armor. Woe is Friedrich with his -4 AC, THAC0 of 6, 100+HP, 18(99) STR, 18 CON (used to be 19), 18 WIS and now an 18 DEX courtesy of the Ioun stone the party just found. Not to mention the castle that he owns or the 9th level magic-user henchman who probably should have deserted months ago. You're free to roll up a new character if you think this one is unplayable. I will note that the party is soon descending into the depths of the earth and that they'll possibly be fighting the dark dwarves of the Adamantine Tower. I don't know though, pretty unlikely any of them would have magic axes or magical dwarf-sized armor. ::) [/li][li] The denizens of the underworld are numerous. The Jezulein subjugated the weaker and less organized tribes of subterranean humanoids they encountered (goblins, bugbears, trolls, etc.) and were forced to ally with their nearest neighbors, the dwarves of the Adamantine Tower. I'm completely with you brotha! I love playing in your games (plural) and MOST certainly appreciate the time and effort you put forth to make this all happen.
The near impossible task of juggling 5,6 or 7 different PC's (and their personalities) and keeping the game enjoyable without making it too easy has got to be an extremely difficult task; at least I would imagine so. That's not lost on me.
So, I'll just keep playing and if cool stuff shows up that Friedrich can use great. If not, oh well.
