I wanted to create something in a different section so it'll stay current but be on a parallel track from our usual discussion. We should have a running list of questions for Commune so we won't waste them when we get another chance. Here's off the top of my head.
Circlet 1) If we give the circlet to the undead warrior who seeks it, will he still try to kill us? 2) Should we request the undead warrior who seeks the circlet to assist us in a task before we give him the circlet?
Kay-Tarn 1) Should we enter the evil that dwells in Kay-Tarn's lair? 2) Is the undead warrior who seeks the circlet an enemy of Kay Tarn?
Black Domes 1) Should we enter the black dome in Loftwick to rescue those trapped within it?
The Hole 1) Should we enter the Hole in the Crystalmists/Jotens?
Scottis 1) Is the King's daughter trying to over-throw the King? 2) Can we trust Sir Highrider with the information that King Scotti's daughter is conspiring with Thomas Louvain, etc. to over-through the King?
Silent One 1) Is the Silent One who dwelt in Longspear still in his octahedron? 2) Is he dead in there? 3) Can we survive his protections if we enter his house to rescue him?
Revenge 1) Does San have Winthrop's stolen spell books? 2) Are our ioun stones with those who stole them? 3) Should we attempt to track our stolen ioun stones?

I think we need to make the communes more specific. Decide what we're going to do, then make all the questions about that thing. Splitting up the questions provides much less help.
Given the nature of the goddess we'll be questioning, some of the answers will be obvious. Cedrus's goddess will always want us to protect nature - finding the druid ties into that. Once Hugh gets commune, the answers will favor tracking down those who have wronged us.

I agree. But since we don't know what we're doing next, we should list everything.

Listing everything will only make us sad. Here's my top 5 list of issues we should pursue.
1. Snurre. 2. Groorg 3. The Banner 4. The Hole 5. Kay-Tarn
Killing giants is one of our core strengths, and I think we should focus on them. We have rough locations for all of these as well. We can focus our questions on things like troop strength, magic power, and the like. Plus, they've had lots of treasure.
I don't include the circlet because that will pretty much solve itself. I put on the circlet, we stay in one spot, he shows up and we kill him and take his stuff.

The plan, as stated in an earlier thread: Go through the gate, give back the circlet, find the banner, kill the Fire Giants. As I understand it, we're allowed one Commune spell per adventure. Each of these seems to be an adventure. We've already used our "go through the gate" spell, so the next is "give back the circlet."
We should try to find out exactly what the motives of Sir Stern are, verify that it is him, and see if he can help us in some way. Maybe Kay Tarn is the evil creature who made him into a skeleton warrior? Maybe he'll accompany us into Kay Tarn's lair to slay him? I'd love to send a creature with 90% magic resistance against a lich. If he has a grudge against a bad guy, we should try to use that.

We should try to find out exactly what the motives of Sir Stern are, verify that it is him, and see if he can help us in some way. You can put on the circlet and ask him yourself. Commune shouldn't be needed.

Will Dell give Raven the circlet? Maybe to Jasper? He's resistant to ESP. That should help. As the leader, I'm happy to take that burden.

Maybe to Jasper? He's resistant to ESP. That should help. That sounds like a bad idea. I really don't think giving back the circlet constitutes "an adventure" for the purposes of using the Commune spell. It's pretty straightforward. We can keep avoiding him or we can go meet him. He's intelligent enough, he can answer these questions for us. If we put the circlet in the chest and confront him he'll have to either bargain for it or try to kill us. If he succeeds, he'll never get the circlet back. It seems reasonable that we can ask some service of him in exchange for the circlet. 4) Should I be wasting a diety's time with these trivialities? The Black Domes, Kay-Tarn and The Hole all seem like good questions. The Scottis and The Silent One seem lower priority. The King probably has more to worry about than being overthrown, seeing as how he's a prisoner in some Dark Dome Dimension. The other, finer script holds the more dread information. It directs that the fall of Port Toli marks the Hold of the Sea Princes aligning with them; that Tharizdun’s blessing should be given to the fallen in Sterich; that Hargid should hold the attention of the Yeomanry until the Spine passage is secured; that any necessary force should be used to prevent access to the west, the Sea of Dust, including Symbayans and Thri. This section is punctuated with the threat that if Martek is freed, “your souls will pay.” "Should we quest to 'free Martek?'" Let's get some perspective guys. The amulet has been sitting down there undisturbed for hundreds of years. We poked and prodded it a bit almost a year ago. I think it's extremely unlikely that anything that hasn't happened in the past year (let alone the past 400 years) is going to happen in the immediate future. Let's take care of that thing when we're in the area dealing with the Fire Giants or The Hole or Martek or whatever else is in that area.

Should I be wasting a diety's time with these trivialities? I'm sorry, I forgot that we should be asking her if Eve is ok. Regarding our vengeance, we can scry for that ourselves probably. I do think it's important stuff, however. An ioun stone that grants 250,000+ experience points is extremely valuable. If we're worried about bothering Ehlonna too much, I think the check on that is that Cedrus just won't ask if he give him stupid questions. Presumably when trained, he learned what the rules are for asking Ehlonna. BTB, you can commune once per adventure, once per week, or once per month, depending on the DM's discretion. Since Cedrus is a tool of the DM, he'll know.

We should ask about the large flaming object that passed overhead while we were in the Oytwood- that's an adventure right there.
Something along the lines of:
"Should we begin an Expedition to the Barrier Peaks?"

To ask Ehlonna: 1. Can we find the great druid using one of the portals on this world? 2. Should we attempt to fix the large gate in the courtyard? 3. Can we fix the large courtyard gate without using a wish? 4. Can we fix the large courtyard gate using the ring of wishes? 5. Will the guild be able to help us find the great druid? 6. Will we be able to rescue the great druid without regrouping to the Prime Material Plane? 7. Is there a way out of the castle without venturing to the top? 8. Is the GD on the Oerth? 9. Is the GD in the weird platform realm we entered when we passed through the Gate in Little Boy Mountain?

Is there any way to escape this castle without going through the gate?
Will going through the gate when it is purple lead us back to the Oerth?
Will going through the gate when it is purple lead us to the Great Druid?
Will going through the gate when it is light blue lead us back to the Oerth?
Will going through the gate when it is light blue lead us to the Great Druid?
Will going through the gate when it is dark blue lead us back to the Oerth?
Will going through the gate when it is dark blue lead us to the Great Druid?
Will going through the gate when it is white lead us back to the Oerth?
Will going through the gate when it is white lead us to the Great Druid?

If we use combine, then we get 13 questions. Since we get to ask them in order, we should do "Does it matter what color this gate is when you go through it?" and have a different list of successive questions if the answer is no. I think we could rephrase questions to something more like "Will it best advance our quest to find the great druid to go through the gate when it's white"
