Colby is hale and hearty, thanks to the Green Man on the island of the druids.
The entire party agreed to go on a long term quest to free the world from the Demonspore being grown by an evil cult. We have no idea where it is or how to stop it, but if we ever affirmatively give up on it, we'll be struck dead by a geas. So remember, everything we do is ultimately towards that goal.
Marcus drank from a magic fountain, and decided to stay in the Green Man's garden. He gave us all of his items save the sword of Spartusia and his armor. Little Red Ridinghood also remained in the garden.
We got to the island via the ship in a bottle. It worked as expected, and we took it to the island, and then down river to the ocean. At the ocean we found a fabulous city guarded by a tough guard, who cheerily thrashed us. We left with our tails between our legs. At the base, we met a cool pirate lord, who offered to have one of his men take us to the sunset isles to find the rain bird.

The only clue he gave us for finding the Demonspore was to go to the bottom of the deepest dungeon and then go even deeper. It is not clear what path we are to follow to find this dungeon, or how actively we need to pursue this goal. Do we wander around having adventures looking for a deep dungeon? Is going after the rainbird on the Sunset Isles clearly a dead end and so we shouldn't be doing this? Do we need to consult sages? Is there any reason to go back to the Forest Kingdom? This sort of puts us at loose ends.

I think we can draw some conclusions. If we need to go deep to the center of the earth, that suggests we need to be on earth, i.e. on the prime material plane and not the ethereal. I think we can also conclude that Colby will have some helpful new locating spells when he gets 9th level, which will be made much easier after getting his lost levels restored by the rain bird.

Is ultra light magic armor 1/2 or 1/4 of normal encumbrance? I've been counting it as 1/2.
We determined the long sword with the ivory hilt is +1.
The green frog skin boots allowed Trommer to leap 30' forward when he dared to put them on. They are likely Boots of Striding a Leaping but haven't been fully tested.
Is it worth the risk to actually wear the blue lobster armor in order to see if it is magical? I would think we could find out after a combat based on the encumbrance. Trommer would be game. What is the normal AC of a lobster?
The iron helmet didn't do anything noticeable to to Friedrich (can Paavo detect evil on him?) when he put it on. I know that since he is a dwarf it might be hard to tell if he changed gender. Given that it is the most non descript helm of the five we found would it be worth checking for inscriptions inside it or testing it rather than wait to identify it?
Does anyone without a magic shield want to use one of the three shields we picked up? Tommer is willing to use one for fights without archers. - square shield with a lightning bolt on it - steel shield with a lone tower - painted white shield with a crown

Ultralight is 1/4 encumbrance.
The long sword may have additional properties.
Certainly boots of leaping or hopping (given the frog skin). Maybe not striding. No one has tried move quickly in them. Maybe they are hopping and climbing.
The only people who can wear the armor are Trommer, Paavo, Danakes and Dan. Paavo and Dan will stick with the armor they have for now.
Detect Evil doesn't work in the Ethereal Plane.
Paavo picked up one of the shields but he typically fights two-handed. Ingrid should use a new shield since her shield is non-magical. Friedrich should also grab another shield when he doesn't want to use the shield brooch. Also Danakes could trade his tower shield.

So I was wondering if we should try to trade some magic items with Captain Morgan. I am sure he has plundered plenty of stuff over the years. Here are some items I thought we are unlikely to use: -ring of swimming (requires you not to be wearing armor) -barbed whip -gold demon mask -gold hookah (magic?) -Lemarchand puzzle box -love potions -morningstar (Dead Sun Rising) -cauldron of alchemy? (needs additional identification) -scimitar from dragon horde that shocks non-chaotic alignments.
Also if he has any magic users in his band, maybe they would be interested in trading spells. We could even try to sell them some of our surplus books.
We could also try selling him some stuff, like the ivory horse, that we don't want to carry.

Friedrich - check the Captain's thoughts. Make sure he doesn't mean to do us any harm or double cross us.
We could also use the helm when trading with him to make sure he isn't robbing us blind. Giving us fake gems or faulty magic items.

I'm hesitant to trade away the swords, since we know they're cursed. Only if we disclose that to a potential buyer, and he still agrees to be permanently pursued by an evil death knight, will Colby be ok.
Since they're indestructible, we can't sacrifice them for training purposes, alas.

It doesn't have any plusses, but it's a magical morningstar which curses enemies hit with a natural 20 with a -1 to hit and -1 to AC. Not the greatest weapon, but useful for fighting creatures only susceptible to crushing damage.

I would think we could find out after a combat based on the encumbrance. Trommer would be game. What is the normal AC of a lobster? I would disagree as there is no frame of reference, none of you having ever worn the carapace of a giant crustacean as armor, magical or nonmagical. checking for inscriptions inside it There are no inscriptions on the helmets. Figure out what shields you're carrying and we'll figure out which one you're using at the start of the encounter. So I was wondering if we should try to trade some magic items with Captain Morgan. I am sure he has plundered plenty of stuff over the years. He'll trade gems, jewelry & objet d'art for coin and vice versa, he has these in abundance, though he'll take 10% off the top. Also he has weapons galore, armor not as much. Unless something is demonstrably magic, he won't offer more than its material worth. Also if he has any magic users in his band, maybe they would be interested in trading spells. We could even try to sell them some of our surplus books. There's a heavily-tattooed, blue-lipped wizard named Momo'lazu who will not even discuss a trade of spells unless first given a magical item as consideration. We could also try selling him some stuff, like the ivory horse, that we don't want to carry. The ivory horse was left in the dragon lair along with all the coins. Friedrich - check the Captain's thoughts. Make sure he doesn't mean to do us any harm or double cross us. We could also use the helm when trading with him to make sure he isn't robbing us blind. Giving us fake gems or faulty magic items. He is thinking about doing all these things. He is also drunk. It doesn't have any plusses, but it's a magical morningstar which curses enemies hit with a natural 20 with a -1 to hit and -1 to AC. Not the greatest weapon, but useful for fighting creatures only susceptible to crushing damage. This is not correct. It curses on any successful roll to-hit.

We specifically reshuffled encumbrance by dropping rope, etc. to carry the horse, which we then wasted a pearl identifying on the island.
I'm glad Dead Sun Rising is better than I recall.
I think we have a magic tea cup with Momo'lazu's name on it. He'll need to have ink to sell us first, though.

You identified the horse and the cauldron in the dragon's cave. I have the sheets of the dragon hoard with the notations made as to what was taken and what was left. You did not take the horse or the maiden figurehead. You did take the brazier.

Between the skeletons and the strength spells, we also managed to carry the brazier.
The teacup is either in the quantum box or in Devonshire. You could offer him one of the 3 love potions. Finn does have 3 aliquots of spell ink. A fly spell might be really useful to catching a rain bird.

Between the skeletons and the strength spells, we also managed to carry the brazier. The skeletons carried sacks of gold. The ivory horse was left behind, there is no question of this. You could offer him one of the 3 love potions. Those are Bolo's, he picked them up at the Harvest Tournament from some charlatan. They are not magical. Needless to say, this magic-user has no interest in them.

Correction**
You identified the hand axe (non magical), a ring (non magical) and the horse (non magical).
I have the sheets with the checkmarks on them for what you took from the dragon's lair, with all the notes you made for who was carrying what and what items did what, and the horse is not checked off.

I'm pretty positive that the second round of identifications was done on the island, which is why I was sure we brought the horse with us. We clearly identified three things in a single day, which only could have been done if Colby was alive, which only could have been done on the island, after we'd left the dragon's cave.

I honestly don't remember what you took, we spent a lot of time in session working on this. That's why I made a spreadsheet with every item and its encumbrance and all those calculations.
Every item on the treasure list is checked off except for the coins, the oaken chest, the maiden figurehead and the ivory horse.
There's a notation in the margin indicating 1000GP as taken.
We'll look at the sheet on Sunday. If you feel you have the horse, you can have the horse. In the future, whatever is listed on the Inventory sheets at the end of the session will be what you have, period, end of discussion.

It is my fault if the horse didn't get checked. The process kind of broke down with people volunteering to drop mundane items. If you want to recalculate the party carrying capacity moving at a 6" with strength spells for Ingrid and Danakes and the skeletons carrying some stuff, then you can figure out whether we could have carried it. Either way I am fine saying we don't have it.

Given that he will only trade something that is demonstrably magic, that pretty much leaves the ring of swimming as the only magic item we could trade. I think the only additional things to trade are the coins that we are carrying and the horse (?).
I am going under the theory that once we get to the Sunset Isle we are going to leave the bulk of the dragon treasure on the ship. And there is a good possibility that the boat won't be there when we get back from searching for the rainbird unless we leave lots of guards. So I would suggest people take what they absolutely want and leave behind what they can do without. That may mean leaving behind some books and taking some of the nice armor.
One option would be to use pearls to identify the heaviest items (armor, brazier, shields) and leave anything that is not magical. I don't know how long of a trip it is to the sunset isle. But we may have a couple of fairly uneventful days on the sea that could be used for identification. We should see if the Captain has any 100 gp pearls to purchase.
