If he wants a magical weapon he'll have to get Dell to part with one of his daggers or Diego to loan his new whip. Druids get two weapon proficiencies... I assume he already has scimitar, don't know what his other could be. The whip could be good for him - it's good for animal training and all that. He could use my Thunder/Lightning staff, but I'm not parting with it just yet. Also, in unrelated news for the DM: Adrienne is going to learn proficiency in Pick. Dell is going to learn proficiency in Sling. Also, if an arrow or sling bullet is enchanted with Continual Light, then does it count as magical for striking things that are only hit with magical weapons, as long as a specific amount of plusses isn't mentioned? For instance, will a thrown glowing rock get through a Protection from Normal Missiles?

Maybe we can use the Mithril Circlet to control Kay-Tarn and if he is controlling all of the undead then we can have him cause the undead to kill the humanoids. Who has the best Wisdom and Intelligence? I neglected to ask his name when we chatted last. I'll get right on that, though - he should be on his way, but it will likely take him a while. On the bright side, he probably won't get tired. I think we need you to elaborate on this. When did you try on the circlet? What exactly happened when you did? How do you know he is on his way?

I think we need you to elaborate on this. When did you try on the circlet? What exactly happened when you did? How do you know he is on his way? Meeting with Sir HighriderRaven, Diego, Otto, and Dell meet with Killain Anvilsplitter when the prisoner is to be released. The Keepers of the Peace take many precautions against the casting of unholy prayers and surround the statue of the man. Raven warns them that if he is killed, his spirit is unreachable for questioning. Dell takes out the cold-forged mithril circlet dug up out of the ancient tomb and places it on his brow. He stiffens and begins to glance around the room, taking in the look of each person there. He takes the circlet off, and says, “Ready.”

I read that at the time but it was very much a non sequitur and I didn't really know what to make of it.
You should feel free to expand on the DM's accounting of the event. Have you worn it again since then? That was like two months ago now - any idea how soon he is arriving?

You should feel free to expand on the DM's accounting of the event. But that would spoil the surprise! Surely Dell has shown that he can be trusted with all the evil magical items... The circlet lets me see through the eyes of some undead warrior. He was in a crypt of some kind. Putting it on seemed to awaken him. He said he was coming for the circlet, and either I would give it to him or he would take it. I figure that I can control him like a puppet - like in Being John Malkovich - while I'm wearing the circlet. I assume that the vision property of the circlet works both ways - so the undead warrior guy knows what you look like. I'll try it on some more to see if I can tell where this guy is at, and try to clairvoyance the room that I first saw when I put it on to see if there's anything of interest there.

Since Dell and Raven has special insight and experience in dealing with evil items which affect ones personality, we've discussed the circlet. We still concur with the original conclusion that the creature is a skeleton warrior. We presume that the creature came from Kay-Tarn's lair, but is not Kay-Tarn, who is likely a lich.

So as far as I can tell, we're going to gather as much intel as we can, then head upriver to Flen. Then cross over into Sterich and head towards Oytkeep pass, through the Stark Mounds (checking in at the tower) and up to Gorna. There we drop off Oaklock (probably) buy spells, etcetera. Then head down to Kay-Tarn's undead generator, enter the Jotens in search of Groorg, then hit Loftwick for resupply. Then down to the old outpost of Clan Mumatandin to get the remaining Mithril ore and evil amulet. Then into the Hellfurnaces to find Snurre.
This plan is exquisite, and like all things of beauty it cannot last.

According the calendar we have about 3 months of Oaklock's service left. If we get to Gorna before that time is done we can then head to the ice elves with reinforcements before swinging down to Kay-Tarn.

Do we think the Ice Elves are "the allies to the north?"

My level of interest in going back on the glacier is even lower than the temperature on said glacier. It's out of the way, and with the power of the frost giants broken they're not likely to be an immediate threat.

"Once I hear back from Grugnir, we, and our ally to the north, will close off Geoff from all aid."
Who is the ally to the north? The Ice Elves? Toola? It's possible that they were counting on that alliance with the Ogre Magi, which presumably won't happen since we've mucked it up.

We shoud inquire with Oaklock if he'll continue to travel with us if we save Geoff. It's conceivable that the authorities there would think that our mission into the Jotens is of such a high priority that they'd spare an extra Gorna Guardsman or two to accompany us.

In the time available I will do the clairavoyance requested earlier in addition to the Silent Ones place. With observers in case someone notices and can Teleport back to me and cause me to have a bad day which would make me more annoyed.

With observers in case someone notices and can Teleport back to me and cause me to have a bad day which would make me more annoyed. We can all get together and have a big clairvoyance party! I'll handle the catering. Everyone will view the areas they can - Dell will check out Flen, and the crypt where the skeletal warrior was, Oaklock can view Gorna and its surroundings... it's only third level, so we can use it a few times a day. Our druidy friend can scry for things he hasn't seen before - he's just not likely to succeed. But we can always try.

Am I correct that the circlet does not radiate magic? Does it radiate evil? It radiates magic, but not evil. What are the tracking abilities of a bear? Do they have good senses of smell? A bear's sense of smell is 7 times greater than that of a bloodhound. Their tracking abilities are excellent for things they normally track, mainly food. Eats Salmon is not a trained animal (for that matter is not a trainable animal short of being enchanted), and as such is not well suited for the sorts of tracking that a bloodhound is, namely people. Can the DM provide us with any details of what is going on in Flen at the moment? Not really. You haven't heard anything about Flen, and it's over a week away. Sir Highrider had hoped for reinforcements from Flen, but, given the content of the letters you've shown him, doubts that he'll get any. Adrienne is going to learn proficiency in Pick. If the Company agrees to wait in Longspear for them to do so, and there are persons available to perform such training, and if you or the Company have sufficient funds, sure! Do it in game on Sunday. A glowing rock does not get through a protection from normal missiles. Magical weapons are those weapons that have a magical bonus to hit or damage. Those weapons that don't have an explicit bonus to hit or damage are calculated to have an implicit one, such as the Javelin of Piercing. In the time available I will do the clairavoyance requested earlier in addition to the Silent Ones place. Do it in game on Sunday.

I wasn't expecting him to follow a trail per se but if asked about what he smells can he tell what has passed by recently or what is close by? Could he alert us if he smells/hears something approaching? Also I assume he will learn the Company's smell and be able to find us if we are separated while he is out hunting. How closely does he need to be managed? Does he take direction from Otto and Herbert or does he just follow us around but act for the most part like a wild bear?

How's this for a plan: We stay around Longspear for 3 or 4 days so Adrienne, Oaklock, Herbert, Dell and whoever else wants to can get more proficiencies. We'll also thoroughly scry all of the places we've mentioned. Dell will use the circlet to learn more about the creature that's been hunting him down for 2 months in order to kill him. We can also write simple scrolls and make simple potions, since we don't have much time. Potions of regeneration might be good, as are potions of giant strength. We'll buy wagons, carts, animals, etc. so we can take a trip to Flen and beyond. We'll also send to the guy we're supposed to meet and tell him we won't take his mission.

Assuming he likes Jasper, he could probably tell him if something that frightened him or something he wanted to eat passed by recently. I imagine grizzly bears are pretty close to top predators, so by and large, Eats Salmon probably doesn't concern himself with most creatures. Eats Salmon is just a bright bear that thinks you are the bee's knees, at least as far as he's been told by Cedrus. He'll get into bearish trouble; he's not tame, trained, or particularly friendly. That said, he's smart for an animal, so if Herbert or Otto is paying attention to him, he won't wander over and eat a child, for example. Unless they are covered in honey.

Assuming he likes Jasper, How could anyone not like Jasper? The real question is whether Eats Salmon, who's smarter than the average bear, is smarter than Jasper.

I wouldn't worry about the bear in the long term. If we take it into combat it's gonna die. If we don't take it into combat, it won't be with us for us to worry about.
