With a certain amount of luck, it seems likely that Kazan can fly into the warehouse, hide behind a crate, transform into a nisse, cast invisibility, sneak to the corridor, sneak into the doorway, cast sleep, and transform into a small creature again to get under a door. Before leaving the room he will cast Fly. He will listen at the door to make sure no one overheard him. Then he will proceed with this plan using flying to move about slowly and quietly in nisse form. Kazan turns back into a skulking animal and slips into the ledger room. There, he turns back into something approximating himself. The room is as he left it, and now that he is looking for it, the lantern hanging from the ceiling beam is plain to see. It must have been lit earlier in the day, as no windows exit the room and all could see when he met with Thurnas. Crossing the room to get as far from the door as possible, he speaks words of enchantment, raising his feet off the ground. Carefully, he creeps back to the door and listens through it. It is ominously quiet. Kazan gnaws a thumbnail. "Was I heard?" he frets. Kazan is not built for skulking about, and the strain is visible in his face. Committing himself, he again transforms into a spider and creeps under the door. Nothing occludes the light, and he crawls out and again becomes a small bird. The men still work in the warehouse and dice in the smaller room. Kazan flits over to the near corner of the warehouse, where several crates stand stacked upon each other. Growing into the spitting image of Flim, he speaks words of power and becomes invisible. Floating off his feet, he quickly leaves his hiding spot and wafts toward the corridor. If someone is coming to investigate, he wants to be far away from the crates. His preparation is for naught as the men in the warehouse continue their tasks. A moment later, Kazan floats inside the doorway of the room. He raises his hand and strews sand through the air, chanting words of power as hammering commences. Power erupts from Kazan soothing the senses and lulling the mind into deep sleep. The man on the left slumps over, insensate. The man on the right does not! The man on the right stares in shock at the floating fae, his jaw agape.

"Should I use the wand or cast a spell?" thinks the shrunken, floating mage. "Definitely spell." Throwing another handful of sand into the air, Kazan tries to lull the dervish to sleep. The dervish is too stunned to even rise to his feet. His eyes glaze over and his jaw remains agape as he slumps to one side, sound asleep. Kazan darts across the room to the door and prepares to transform into another skulking creature to fit between the door and its frame. Which door does Kazan head to (see attached map)? Attachments:

The door straight across.
I should have used the shape of a sandman. That certainly would have confused things.

Basil will spend his night(s) watching the hidden door to the monolith in the inconspicuous form of a night creature common to the oasis trying to see who uses it. Once Kazan has left, Basil turns himself into a desert vulture and perches in the nearby palms. He has a fine view of most of the monolith, and with a little bit of flapping can move to see the other side as well. Basil arrives at his perch several hours after sunset. About ten minutes later, a single figure walks up to the monolith and begins pacing in the palms near its base. Basil flaps from tree to tree trying to get a good view of who this might be. The moon illuminates the waiting man's face. It is Korus. While you are initially surprised, you harken back to the conversation that Zinc, Morvan, and Kazan relayed to you. Korus claimed that he would provide you all with an additional reward of magical weaponry if you brought the missing woman to him and allowed him to accompany you to the sheik. As part of that arrangement, you were to meet him after dark at the monolith. It appears Korus is keeping his part of the bargain. You continue your perch and wait for anyone else to arrive.

The door straight across. I should have used the shape of a sandman. That certainly would have confused things. The door here appears to have more use than the others, as the stones are worn beneath it. The opening is larger than to the room with the ledger, and Kazan is able to worm through as a vole. The twenty foot square room beyond is dim and musty, lit only by the coals of an open cooking fire. The serving woman that provided food and beverages to Kazan, Basil, and Thurnas struggles with cleaning a wide array of bowls. The remains of lentil soup still cling to the inside of a large pot that sits near the fire. A narrow opening in the ceiling allows the smoke to rise up and out of the room.

Kazan will scuttle to the door on the right. As he moves across the room he will look to see if the door into this room can be barred from the inside. Also if any exits in this room appear to have locks.

"Bring the girl straight to me and I will provide you this reward before the sheik does," he says. "I will wait for you after dark by the monolith in the oasis." The moon illuminates the waiting man's face. I guess I misunderstood that part when I initially read it, I thought he meant that we would bring the girl to meet him there when we found her. If we haven't found the girl yet, a meeting seems unhelpful. I guess we should go to meet with him and say that other members of our party are searching as we speak. We have ways of covertly contacting him and will definitely make him learn before the sheik when we have the girl.

Until Basil returns no one else knows that Korus is waiting by the monolith.
We can tell him that we will bring the girl to him but once we have the girl we would take her straight to the sheik. Right?

I didn't recall the meeting myself. I just wanted to find out who might be using the hidden door that Rensslaer found with the star gem. I think it is definately something to check out.

In character, we were told to meet Korus tonight, so it's not really using out of character knowledge to know that he's there. But yeah, Basil should come get us to remind us. While he's at it, he could use the opportunity to chat with Korus's elf servant.
I think what we do with the girl depends on how we find her and what she says. If she thinks Korus is in cahoots with her kidnappers, we should definitely not inform him first. If not, I don't necessarily see the harm. He is the sheik's son, and we were told that he would work with us.

Kazan will scuttle to the door on the right. As he moves across the room he will look to see if the door into this room can be barred from the inside. Also if any exits in this room appear to have locks. Kazan skulks back under the door and sidles over to the other exit from the room. As he sails over the floor a torrent of sound boils over him! Freezing in place, he looks wildly around. One of the dervishes from the warehouse stands in the doorway, tulwar in hand, and is chastising the two sleeping men! Kazan takes advantage of the man's distraction to finish his flight to the door. The armed man, a look of concern spreading across his face, begins prodding and shaking one of the sleeping men while speaking to him with greater care. This door has a large lock built into it, something you don't remember seeing before. With the men behind you being awakened, you squeeze under the locked door. Beyond the door is a 30-foot by 20-foot room. The room is unlit. You cautiously transform into a nisse and hold your cupped glowing stone in one fist. With the meager light, more details become obvious. Comfortable, expensive furniture stand in various locations. A large bed mounted on castors stands at the left end of the room and a desk with a plain stool at the right end. A medium-sized, red book lies open on the desk. A wicker basket with clothes in it and a pillow on top are against one wall. Cautiously approaching the desk, you look over the book. It has some markings on the cover, which you piece together as meaning "Notes." Sensing that your holy vision has expired, you hesitate to open the book after your last experience with newly discovered tomes. Marks on the floor show that the bed is moved fairly often. The castors are worn and shallow grooves on the floor mark where the bed rolls into the room and back. Sliding down to your stomach, you fly under the bed. As you expected, a large trap door is under the bed in the corner of the building. Attachments:

Basil continues his watch over the monolith. After about an hour and a half of restless waiting, Korus hikes up to the monolith, says something unintelligible, and then enters the monolith! Basil flaps over to get a better view, but the door closes in the monolith again. Basil is a bit shocked, but he settles down to wait again.
Over the next hour, four groups of people walk in from various parts of the oasis, predominantly from the tents, to the monolith. They stop outside of the monolith and recite, "Open in the name of the Great One!" The secret door opens. They enter, and then the secret door closes. About a dozen individuals enter the monolith in this way. Basil doesn't recognize any of them.
Three hours then pass by uneventfully. The secret door opens again, and Korus leaves in silence followed by about a dozen individuals. The last one to leave calls out, "Close in the name of the Great One!" and the secret door closes. As Korus strides off toward the tents, the others pick up palm fronds and sweep the ground, obscuring their tracks. Then, they also depart.
The rest of the night goes without incident, and, as dawn breaks, Basil flies back to the compound and the others.

Kazan will listen for noises from the outer room before taking a look at the book. If while reading the book it sounds like they are opening the door he will fly under the bed, transform into a gray ooze to get through the trapdoor. Otherwise he will take 5 minutes to read the book before preceding to the trapdoor.

What if we'd seen one of the small groups heading to the monolith when we went to meet Korus? Hmm.

Otherwise he will take 5 minutes to read the book before preceding to the trapdoor. Even through the door, Kazan can hear the loud voices jabbering through the door. Multiple voices can be heard with both angry and fearful voices rising above the others. It sounds like more people are in the room than the original two and that the number of people is possibly increasing. Kazan heads back over to the red book and flips it open, wincing. The book appears to be a ledger similar to the other one. The dates in the red book are not contiguous, with large gaps in time appearing between the dates. Tracing the flow of materials being sold, it seems that it provides a high per unit price and is very profitable, though infrequent. Most recently, the flow of materials is more constant, occurring on a more frequent basis and at a higher volume. Kazan thinks back to the other ledger, trying to remember the details. It seems to him that the most recent dates in the red book overlap very closely to the time of low profits in the other ledger. Kazan closes the red book and flies under the bed. The sounds from outside the door have grown more subdued and now cannot be heard from a distance.

Korus showed up a few hours after dark and then waited for several hours. He then entered the monolith. Basil estimates that Korus entered the monolith around 11 PM. The people arrived in small groups from 11 PM to 12 AM. Everyone departed some time between 3 AM and 4 AM.

When I first saw this thread had jumped to 10 pages I thought I had missed about 3 sessions. Alfred needs to role for % and HP. Could someone pelase roll for me. I did pretty bad last time so I'm feeling like somone else might do better.
So whoever sees this post and wants to roll d10 for hp and % for attributes do so now and post. (except for the DM, sorry Dana but I'm not feeling that)
And make sure you roll really well too......

Kazan will proceed through the trapdoor in gray ooze form. Once on the other side he will transform into a bird so that he can survey the area. If the coast is clear he will descend further. If it is completely dark he will turn back to near Kazan form and pull out a shielded light stone and proceed via flying. As he moves downward he will try to keep an accurate idea of the depth he has gone. The dimension door has a range of 21" so he doesn't want to go too deep.
By my count it has been roughly 45 minutes since he first polymorphed and 15 minutes since he cast fly. He should still have an hour or more left on these spells.

Maybe he was planning to invite us to some type of meeting? Or introduce us to his group of co-conspirators? Any secret society that meets under an ancient monolith and is headed by a lawful evil person is up to no good. I still contend that Korus has ulterior motives for working with us. Also one twin betraying the other is a classic trope.

Kazan transforms into an oozing mass and slides through the spaces around the trapdoor. He is again blind, but feels gravity pulling him around. Rather than plummet the full depth of shaft, he arrests his fall and hovers in the air. Strange odors and vibrations assail Kazan's form. Kazan takes the shape of a small bird to gain perspective and finds himself in a 20 by 30 foot room. The room is lit by candles. The far end of the room is piled high with crates and chests. An open passageway exits through the right wall. A smaller, rough-hewn tunnel exits through the wall behind you. Loose dirt and rubble are visible at its entrance. You take all of this in at a glance because three seven-and-a-half-foot-tall humanoid creatures charge at you, screeching and screaming war cries! The humanoids are pale yellow with shaggy brick red hair growing over most of their body. Red pupils glare at you from greenish-white eyes. With long ape-like arms they flail at you, swinging morning stars in dangerous arcs. You dart underneath one swing, but their blows are surprisingly accurate. The other two swings strike home, even against your small size and magical protections. (I have your lowest possible AC at the moment as -3, from Bracers AC 5, Ring Protection +2, Dex 18, and Protection from Evil 10' r. Their swings both hit AC -5.) You squawk as you take 14 HP of damage. You assess that with their great height, arm length, and weapon length, they can strike at objects up to and including on the ceiling. Also, they are making a sufficient amount of noise to alert nearby creatures. You are uncertain whether the noise could be heard by the humans above in the adjacent room.

Kazan will attempt to evade their blows while transforming back into himself (gaining the d12 in hp). He will try to position himself with a wall to his back so that he can limit the flank attacks and see anything else coming from the exits. He will then attack them with Hjortor's spear (+8/+11) splitting his attacks. The next round he will draw a +1 dagger (+3/+7) and continue to split attacks but concentrating on injured creatures.
Kazan only has the +1 ring of protection.

He will then attack them with Hjortor's spear (+8/+11) splitting his attacks. The next round he will draw a +1 dagger (+3/+7) and continue to split attacks but concentrating on injured creatures. Kazan only has the +1 ring of protection. Kazan winces from the heavy blows, his small form being surprisingly resilient. Seeing only three opponents, Kazan decides the best defense is a good offense. He begins the transformation back into himself. As his body transmutes, the humanoids attack! One staggers to one side, bouncing off the wall, crowded off balance by the others. He screams loudly, cursing in some unknown tongue. The other two let out wild war cries as they try to pulverize the transmuting mass before them. With wild eyes they swing at Kazan. Kazan, relying on his magical armors as he transforms, is again soundly thrashed by two massive blows. (12 HP, down 26 total) His transformation complete, Kazan feels himself again, a slightly healthier version than he could be (4 HP recovery, down 22 total). In the horrible din of battle, Kazan feels whole. Placing his back to the corner, he whips out Hjortur's spear and thrusts it at the towering humanoid on his flank. The spear punches through the chest of the creature, and its lifeblood pours out in a great torrent (17 HP). The two remaining humanoids both strike at Kazan. The one recovering his step swings with a slight delay relative to its partner, but both have a horrid glint in their greenish-white eye. Kazan sidesteps the first blow, but the second comes straight at his face. At the last moment, Kazan hears a faint whinnying sound and the spiked ball sails aside inches from his ear. Not being in the least shy, Kazan repays the compliment by driving the butt of Hjortur's spear into the throat of the humanoid, crushing it (12 HP). The humanoid struggles and fails to breathe, and then collapses to the ground. Faced with a single opponent, Kazan smiles until he hears the sound of a banging gong from the tunnel in the right wall. The humanoid's eyes go wide as it realizes both of its compatriots are dead. Before it has an opportunity to take a step in flight, Kazan is already in motion (Initiative -1 vs. 4). He thrusts Hjortur's spear forward while reaching for his enchanted dagger. Hjortur's spear glides in through the humanoid's abdomen, spilling entrails (17 HP), but Kazan thrusts the dagger through its eye, just to be certain (9 HP). Kazan breathes heavily for a moment, covered in gore. The gonging sound still continues from the finished corridor, and he now can hear some thudding from overhead. No one has yet come, but who knows what enemies may be around the corner? (Kazan's down 22 HP.) Attachments:

I'm not sure we nailed down a contingency plan in the event Kazan was captured/killed/incapacitated.
If he isn't back before dawn, Rensslaer will go in after him through the secret door while it's still dark. Hopefully Morvan and Zinc will go with him.
