Answer this: What happens if a character no longer has the prerequisites of their class, stat-wise? Lot of people on Dragonsfoot think they can't rise in experience levels in that class until they regain the minimum stats. BOO to that.

Jasper was below the minimum CON to be a monk for a while. After he was killed in the Abyss the first time, his CON fell to 10. I don't remember if the minimum for a monk is 13 or 11, but he was definitely below during his life between his last raising and his reincarnation.

It is not clear that the fountain will have any positive effect on a Ranger. Kazan received no benefit even though he rolled the same as Rensslaer. The explanation was that Monks do not have a single prime requisite - requiring a minimum of 15 in STR, WIS and DEX. The same thing could be argued for Rangers who require 14 or better in WIS and CON and at least 13 is STR and INT. For the Basil and Rensslaer there was no problem determining the primary requisite. I am not sure what would have happened for Morvan if he had rolled higher.
Also we only tried drinking when the sky reflected in the pool was clear. Not sure if that makes a difference but another variable to consider.

I would say that since there was the negative result losing a point in each stat on an 1, that there probably be a similar opposite effect on an 8. I rolled a 7 and got an increase of two points in my prime requisite. So I would say that the higher the roll the better. So if a ranger doesn't have a single prime requisite the roll would be to try and get an 8 to increase all stats by 1.

I agree that a 1 or an 8 is probably to lower or raise each statistic. I wonder if the fountain would work differently for monks than for rangers, because monks have no primary stat (and thus no xp bonus ever) and rangers have 3. I think you'll just have to drink it and see!
