After spending all of his Dragon loot, Dell's accounts are bare. This situation is not pleasing to him, so he calls his company together and briefs them on their next mission. Raven, Max, and Jasper are all suffering from some intestinal ailment that Cedrus is unable (or unwilling) to cure, so they will be unable to participate, but the rest of the party will be heading to the Hool marshes to try and find this lost dwarven stronghold.
So we load up the cart and head out to Loftwick, which is almost, but not quite on our way. Dropping off the mystery amulet, we head down south to the marsh. The sketchy marsh-dwelling people have been dealing with lizard-man attacks lately, but this is a problem too insignificant for the dragon-slaying Blue Sun company to bother with. So, after Cedrus communes with his deity, which gives him a vague idea of the direction towards twoadventures large treasure deposits in the marsh, we head into the muck on two boats.
After three days of poling the boats through muck and mire (and being nearly eaten alive by insects) we find the lost keep of... of whatever clan it was. Dell does a little recon, then confidently walks in the door (after Diego rips it off) and is immediately paralyzed by a ghoul. After killing the ghouls (and ghasts) the party waits for the paralyzed people to recover.
Dell once again leads the way, heading towards where the ghouls came from, and raiding their lair of all the treasure he can find. Finding a crumbling staircase, he nimbly climbs up towards the second floor, which in this crumbled building is now open to the air. He pilfers a few shiny things out of a large nest, and then searches the rest of the area. Finding a weak spot, he nimbly avoids it, and then nimbly falls as the floor collapses under him. Fortunately, he was prepared for such an eventuality, and drifts down like a feather, remaining unharmed.
Everyone is suitably impressed by Dell's dramatic entrance.
...stuff happens...
We encounter the ghost of the dead dwarven king, who commissioned us to slay some demon (or devil, we're still not sure) that had been summoned by some ancient evil wizard dude that they invited in for some reason.
Since he had two specters working for him, we figured it'd be best to do what he says. Although Winthrop is long overdue for a level-draining. Also, we have to return him to their ancestral home, wherever that is.
Oh yeah, there was a shambling mound, too. We whacked him. And Dell got paralyzed another time, from carrion crawlers.
As things stand now, we're going to swap out some spells, and then go after the devil (or demon). So we'll probably all die.
