Okay, before the magical goods are identified and distributed, I just wanted to start an argument go over the system of magic-item distribution one more time. Many systems have been proposed, but none of them have actually been followed. Here's the new method:
First, the magic items are identified. Then everyone provides Dell with a prioritized listing of the items that they want. Dell and Raven (the leadership) decide who gets what, based on the person's abilities, their preference list, and the items they currently own.
A simple, yet fair methodology.

Hmmm, I don't remember where we decided that methodology of distribution.

Hmmm, I don't remember where we decided that methodology of distribution. It's been in place since the second Nerullite temple, which is when I officially took the reins of the organization. I decided the item split from the temple, and the cash split from the second mission. I decided you would keep the ioun stone and Raven would get the Jade Ring. I decided that you would get the Gem of Blinding Light that the Medusa gave us - you benefit more from it than I do, since many enemies can't even hit me with their eyes open. Essentially, it's an explicit statement of an already existing situation. The only decision I didn't personally make is Otto's getting the healing potion. I consider healing potions as almost group property - regardless of who owns them, they go towards whoever is both most injured and most useful. I also didn't decide that Liato would get those magical boots, but you know how these nature types chafe under regulation, which is why they spend so little time in civilized areas. If anyone has an alternative plan for the distribution of enchanted items, I'd love to see it.

After items are identified, we can all decide who gets them. The only sticking points will come when there are fewer magical items than people who get a full split. From this loot, we have a bag of holding, two potions, a ring and a scroll to split among Al, Dell, Otto, Raven and Winthrop. One per person shouldn't be difficult to split up once it's identified.

After items are identified, we can all decide who gets them. The only sticking points will come when there are fewer magical items than people who get a full split. Or when there are items that none of us can use, like cleric scrolls. Or when there are items that we have duplicates of - another +1 shield, or set of +1 platemail. Or when there are items that only a few of us can use. Or when Al complains because all he ever gets is potions. There are a lot of sticking points. The first priority is making sure that everyone is as well equipped as possible. Making sure that the distribution is "fair" is the second priority. No simple mechanical system is going to be effective at both these goals, so the best solution is to let me pick, since I am both fair and have the best interests of the group in mind. I do see your concern, and so I grant the group a "veto" ability. If the majority is unsatisfied, then I will revise my distribution.
