Never. Of course it isn't in any of our spell books.

What do we need with Monster Summoning? We've got Animate Dead now!

Evil abominations. I am sure Zinc will destroy any more undead created. If not I will will incinerate them (and anyone standing to close) with a fireball.
A golem (non-flesh) would be a nice soulless construct that Kazan could get behind. Or a figurine of wondrous power. Or dead heroes that are summoned from the afterlife at the blowing of a horn. Or a sentient creature that freely chooses to join the party.
There are plenty of "meat shields" out there that we don't need to compel creatures against their will or contact the Negative Energy Plane, the Abyss or the 9 Levels of Hell.

You guys went up north and got all wussy. What happened to the Kazan that would tie up hobgoblins and leave them for dead?

Aw, now I'm going to start reminiscing about our super awesome bone demon statues. Those were amazing!

So I won't be there the next two sessions - 11/1 and 11/15. Here are some thoughts for what to do with Kazan.
If he makes 7th level then he can use all of the fighter and monk abilities without penalty. If not he will stick to being a magic user only. Of course dire circumstances may require him to fight for his life or flee as quickly as possible.
If he can use his thief abilities without penalty he can try finding and removing traps. His percentages are around 60% in each. This assumes that there is a slow/neutralize poison available. Also he will borrow the lens of minute seeing.
Here are spells he will normally take -magic missile (x4) -sleep (x2) -web -knock -stinking cloud -mirror image -fireball (x2) -slow
If he makes 7th level he will take an additional mirror image which he will use before entering melee.
Optimally he would like to make 7th level, train, manufacture spell ink and write out spells. He could even try to make some potions if we have some ingredients. His top spells to discover for reaching 6th level would be fly, clairvoyance and protection from normal missiles. His top spells to discover for reaching 7th level (after training) would be polymorph self, minor globe, wall of ice and wall of fire. This all depends on what Morvan chooses and what is in the books we found.
When investigating the books we found I would like to -remove surplus magic items and valuables he is carrying (keeping magic protection, armor and arms) -check with find traps -have protection from evil 10' up -if trapped cast dispel magic (preferably by Zinc) (make sure out of range of spell so that find traps and pfe are not dispelled) -any non-trapped books can be removed and read later. -if traps cannot be removed (after several attempts) handle books one at a time. -make sure company is outside 6" but close by to help with any problems.
You guys will have to decide what the party does next. I assume the top priority is returning the horn to Kerava. After that I guess training for those who need it. If Viggo hasn't returned then it is probably too late to stop the forces of Her Dark Majesty. We should probably leave the Land of Song. If the Northmen can't manage to recover a single horn then there is no hope actually fighting an army nor are there any leads on where the last horn is. It would be nice to go after Halakyrie if circumstances allow it. I guess we could also try to raise the terracotta army.

The northmen did manage to recover one of the horns, it was just the Marten clan that did it. =(
I'll detect traps and detect evil on magic books, that should be sufficient.

Necessary reading!! wondermark.com/566/A webcomic which lists the plurals for supernatural creatures!! Examples: a host of angels; a prominence of bugbears; a rally of hobgoblins; a torment of ogres; a drudge of skeletons And if you don't already read Wondermark regularly, you should.

We will need someone else to write up some of the adventures in Black Towen. I was doing some write up in my current slack time at work. I am guessing that I was hit by a pickpocket (I missed a roll there) while on the metro. When I got home I found my bag half open and the only thing missing was my notebook.
I was able to get the first two weeks done and made it up to the major battle with the Black watch just before the haste spell was used. I will have them posted soon. My new notebook is from November 1st after we left Black Towen. So feel free to give a go. I won't be able to rember the details.
Jenn has been ordered to stay home for complete bed rest so no pot luck party.
Happy Thanksgiving!
