Brilliant!
Do you think we can bring Olganni too? She weighs around 15,000 pounds. Anymore Polymorph potion she could use to take a smaller shape? Or maybe she could just meet us there. Can't they can fly?

Brilliant! Do you think we can bring Olganni too? I doubt it. I doubt she wants to come, too.

From a strategic perspective, Olganni returning to the Storm Giants with a map of the bad guy's supply lines is probably better. It'll also be good for her to let them all know that Grugnir and Nosrna are dead, and that the Hill Giants are conspiring with the Ice Elves.

She already said that she was going to return home and we could travel with her if we were going after the Fire Giants. We could try her patience by asking her if she had any interest in smiting some Hill Giants and Orcs in Longspear. Perhaps talking with her with a Tongues spell of two might help but since she doesn't think much of us that probably wouldn't help change her mind. Maybe if we let he keep the giant mace and go after the ice elves to get the other hill giants she'll come with us?

You really want to get those Ice Elves, don't you?

Oh yes. Once I heard that they had a spell caster. That translates into an opportunity for new spell books and spells. Of course we shouldn't leave any evil loose ends.

There are plenty of enemies with spellbooks in warmer places. What about that (former) Nerullite wizard that keeps getting away from us? He's got a book that lets you make Golems. Don't you want a golem of your own?

You know who'll probably have great spellbooks? Elsie.

If we go for the Ice Elves we will still have Oaklock along. The Nerullite, Rocoba, Elsie and San are all on the list.

Didn't we go down some tunnels in the Temple of Tritherion when we used the evil scroll on Al? You went into some side meeting rooms to meet with Arthurus. The write up from that week is Even so, you imagine they must have catacombs beneath the temple. Longspear has extensive sewers that you've been in, and you know that you saw many different styles of architecture. It's likely that the sewers evolved rather than were built. The write up is a little different from the way I recall it happening. That's why I ask for corrections, so that we can all agree on a history of the events that occured. Alternatively, does Oaklock think he can get permission from the to come with us if we take him back to Geoff? Oaklock is still with you for another half year or so, assuming my timeline is correct. I've emailed the calendar out. If there's a temporal error, update me and I'll update the calendar. Do we think we can be of any aid against an army of giants and orcs? What sort of numbers are we talking about? Are we talking 10 giants or 100 giants? Did we get any idea from Frank's men? Is the Silent One helping to repel them? Frank and his boys counted upwards of a hundred hill giants and several thousand orcs. At least 30 orc clan banners are present. The giants come and go, so getting a good count on them is hard, and they are supported by ogres and the occasional troll and other things. The combined horde is spread out over several square miles, with pickets and riders. They appear to be well led, in Frank's estimation. Frank cursed the Silent One. When the boulders came down, the cityfolk expected the Silent One would come out swinging. Instead, his animated servants ejected all those nearby, striking down and killing those that resisted, and his gateway sealed with a visible glowing rune. The area inside the walls, before the strange shaped house, filled with obscuring smoke and strange sounds echoed from within. Since then, the Silent One has not been seen. But we have the Reduce spell. Winthrop can bring someone to a quarter of their height, which would reduce them to... 1/64th their volume? So each person would weigh a little less than 4 pounds? I am not certain that this logic is true. A 72 inch man weighs 200 lbs. A man inches 18 tall doesn't weigh 4 lbs. See shortest man ever weighed 37 lbs. Enlarge/Reduce works strictly by weight, and not by volume, and will only reduce someone to 1/3 his weight. I'm not certain where this is stated, but it would make calculations simpler. If the casters polymorph into mice, will they still have their original weight? I think they still do. Unlike polymorph other, where you are altered into the new form, polymorph self doesn't allow you any of the benefits except movement. I'd read this as an intentional weakening of polymorph self relative to the more dangerous polymorph other and to the more powerful shape change. I'm open to interpretation here though. Featherfall states that "When this spell is cast, the creature(s) or objects affected immediately assumes the mass of a feathery piece of down." So we cast Featherfall, we can all teleport - because down isn't very heavy - and as a happy side effect we don't have to worry about coming in high. This is a novel idea. I read the teleport spell as the caster being required to touch the object or person teleporting with him, so this limits the total number of objects that come along. It is unclear to me how daisy-chaining might work, or if it should, given the greater weight range of the higher level spell. I've posted at Dragonsfoot for some opinions and will get back to you on this one. As an aside, Olganni could come along as well if this works out, though she'd have to be sitting.

What I meant for Enlarge/Reduce was that weight is reduced to 1/3, whereas density is not necessarily reduced accordingly. It seems like something's volume and weight are set to 1/3 and the density is reduced or increased as needed.
So a caster can polymorph into a 500 pound bird and land on a branch without snapping it?

But an 18 inch baby weighs approximately 7 lbs. I think a baby is better scaling of the size than a full grown short man. I would think locomotion, especially flying, would be impossible if the caster kept his original weight. How could small bird wings carry anything that weight? Also the description says "Naturally, the strength of the new form must be sufficient to allow normal movement" which I would interpret as meaning you have the muscle strength to move the mass of the new form. If you would agree that teleporting a container teleports the contents of the container then we could accomplish this by building a large crate. Winthrop would need only touch the crate and all of its contents would be teleported assuming they were under the limit. And with the help of featherfall the weight limit could easily be met. As an aside, Olganni could come along as well if this works out, though she'd have to be sitting. We could use a potion of diminution on her. That could shrink her to less than 2 feet.

Do we need to destroy all the bodies in case some of the evil cleric types show up and animate dead like they did at the giant steading? Or does that fall under the melting the glacier effort?

Yes, we should make sure that all of the bodies are sufficiently dismembered such that they can't be raised. I'm sure Olganni would enjoy the task.
